1. Very very sad to let this bass go, but my money woes continue. It's a 50/50 choice between two Precisions to sell. This one's worth more, so here it is. 2008 USA Precision, in lovely condition, it plays like a dream with the lowest action I've ever had on a P bass, about 2mm at the 12th fret. It's currently fitted with a brand new and unplayed set of TI flats, so you won't need new strings for about 5 years It also comes with its proper SKB Fender hard case. I want £600 please. I can delivery it within reason, or meet you somewhere to make the trade. Post is possible, but will cost extra, and UK only please. Very sad day for me, but at least I'll still have my classic 50s P bass for now. Groan.....something good has to happen soon....surely..... GONE !!!!!
2. 200 quid for a K5??? That's a crazy low price....someone have his arm off quick!!

Gone

I concur, top bloke and a superb bass. Slightly surprised he's selling it to be honest, it's a cracker. Even nicer in the flesh.
4. I want to record songs at home. I'm thick when it comes to kit though, so I wondered if anyone has any pointers re: cheap interfaces etc via a modest laptop running Windows 7. Would a Line 6 guitarport be any good? I've read they may not work on Windows 7? I've had a dabble with Audacity, but not really got to grips with it at the time of writing. My mate uses Garageband, but obviously that's for Apple, which is no good to me. I've asked this before in the distant past, so sorry for repeating myself, but I can't find the original thread.
5. Since its conception (and also its predecessor Bass World), Bass Chat has been a constant source of information, equipment and many new friends for me. It's been an invaluable tool and resource for me personally, and I'd recommend (and regularly do) any bass player, no matter what standard, to get involved.
6. Purple Turtle have gone. Not altogether bothered. They never had anything I wanted. Forgot about Drew, good shout.
7. PMT Salford has a fair selection, Fender, Yamaha, Musicman etc, and plenty of amps. Sounds Great in Heald Green is a great shop, but expensive, and geared more for guitarists. My new fave is Promenade up in Morecambe, an hour north.
8. Get Ernie Ball Slinkys.
9. UPS here too. I've had very bad experiences with TNT who we (have to) use at work. To be fair to Parcelfarce, I've used them many many times with no problem whatsoever. Other people have been less lucky with them though.
10. Yeah, spot on that, cool as you like.
11. Good choice. It's worth more than you're asking. It's a beautiful bass.
12. Yes for me, the magic's in the fingers, not in the instrument itself. A Precision is capable of many tones if you play it right. Don't get me wrong, I love many many different models of basses, but if it came down to one, it'd be a nice and simple Precision, and a bit of imagination from the player. David Bailey once said, that if you can't take a decent picture with a Kodak Instamatic, then you can't take a decent picture with a Leica either.

14. I use Ritter bags, and love them. I had a dual bag until recently, but sold it with a couple of basses...wish I hadn't, so I'm on the lookout for one too. The top end Ritter bags are brilliant, never had a problem with mine, and I've used them for years. However the cheaper ones are a bit flimsy.
15. I've settled on TI flats. like putting on your favourite slippers. Lovely feel, low tension but not floppy, nice top end tone but with a nice thump too. Both my Precisions have them on now, anything else just feels wrong.
16. Try using Photobucket and upload them from there.
17. I have two Precisions, but only ever take one to gigs and rehearsals. I took a "backup" to gigs for years, but never, ever needed one, not once. To be honest a spare amp is more likely to be required. It's the only part of my kit that's ever let me down during gig.

19. That sir is a good start. Speaking of which, I need to arrange a trip to Nottingham sometime soon.
