  1. The observant amongst you will have spotted the Premier Inn decor in the background…. I had to travel to Southend to grab this one.
  2. I must admit, I’m getting a bit obsessed now. Mrs Rayman just rolls her eyes when another one turns up.
  3. The next instalment….. I just picked up a very sorry looking red Mustang….. Filthy dirty fretboard and a pick guard that looks like it was left on a radiator. The neck is straight, so hopefully that wasn’t the case. New pick guard is ordered, and this time I’m going to build the new loom myself. There’s a set of LaBella flats waiting to go on it.
  4. For anyone who’s on Facebook, I’ve created a group called “Here Comes The Sunn”. Anyone who’s interested, please do join, and share your Sunn information and photos 👍🏻
  5. I’m also embracing the lower output pickups and going old school, with a mute. Works really well for the Motown vibes.
  6. I’m also pretty pleased with my fret job on this one….. like I say, they weren’t bad, but I’ve tidied up the ends and polished them. Super comfortable to play now, especially with flats. Also, note the fretboard has been treated with Monty’s relic wax, darkening it slightly, and then a coat of boiled linseed oil. Super comfortable neck now.
  7. Yeah the colour of the varnish on the neck of this one is really nice and golden. They do vary these basses, in terms of the way they are built, even the routing is slightly different. What I mean by that, is that I’ve upgraded the pots etc on all of them with CTS, Sprague Cap etc….. The black ones needed routing out because the pots wouldn’t fit into the existing channel (these basses were factory fitted with nasty cheap mini pots). This white one however, the new loom just dropped right in. Awesome basses in my opinion, for no money, once the electrics have been sorted out, and the frets in many cases, although non of mine have been too bad in that respect.
  8. Update….. So in addition to the two black ones…. I now have this white (ish) one……. Totally stripped it, dressed and polished the frets….. rebuilt and replaced the electrics…. Although the pickup, and everything else is stock. Fitted with flats…. it’s absolutely great, love it. The pickup is a bit low output, but the tone is lovely. Next…… is a red one, just bought on the bay. Details will follow.
  9. Very happy with the end result
  10. Thanks mate. Yes, another one of those “Never thought I’d sell these” occasions, but…. needs must.
  11. 37mm at the nut, exactly 10mm string spacing at the nut. absolutely love Warwick necks. C shape, very comfortable in the hands.
  12. So after massive deliberation, I have decided to sell my Warwick basses. Not an easy decision, but I want a Gibson Thunderbird, and this is the only way to fund it. So, unless you have a ‘bird you would like to trade, this is sale only. Red 1994 Fortress One, absolutely beautiful, plays amazingly, all original apart from an Aquilar OBP1 pre fitted, making it massively versatile. Lovely action, new strings, good to go, including Warwick gig bag AND the user kit - £700…….. next….. 1998 Amber FNA. Fitted with a 2001 Streamer LX Jazzman neck by the previous owner, who preferred the slightly wider neck on this bass. I agree, it’s super comfortable. A total joy to play, it’s fitted with an Aguilar Musicman pickup and a factory fitted Seymour Duncan pre with slap bias. This bass is utterly amazing, and comes in a Warwick gig bag - £700…….. finally, and maybe my favourite of the three… 2000 Streamer Standard, German, all original and fitted with flats. Love this bass. Lo-Fi, old school and super comfortable, I love the tone of this bass, again, comes with a Warwick gig bag - £400……. Priced to sell, I think these are bargains to be honest. Price includes me bringing the bass to you (within reason, depends how far away you are, I’m in Cheshire), or maybe meeting somewhere, I don’t like posting). The only trade option is for a Gibson Thunderbird. Thanks for looking 🙂 Russ
  13. Totally awesome basses. I sold a couple recently….. although I still have my IGB68 5er.
  14. I loved the music. Along with Sweet and others in a similar vein. It was the first music I can remember really taking notice of when I was at school, prior to eventually getting into heavy rock. Turned out Mr G was a c*** and in an ideal world should be completely forgotten ever existed in terms of his career. I do wonder though, what others in the industry are still yet to be uncovered. Posthumously or otherwise.
  15. I’ve been learning to do most of my own tech work down the years, and I’ve accumulated a fair amount of tools etc. Changing pots, and parts most of the time I really enjoy, but I’ve never really had a proper go at fret dressing and polishing. So today is my first attempt on one of my Sunn Mustangs….. Came out nice I reckon. An overnight soak of some Monty’s aging wax and lick of boiled linseed oil and we’re about there. New wiring loom next…
  16. 👆🏻that. We can all give our opinions, but we’re not choosing a bass, you are, and your requirements are very much down to you alone. Keep searching, take your time, and ask as many questions on the forum as you like.
  17. Are they all XL roughly? AHH didn’t read properly, I see the Harvests have already gone. Bugger.
  18. There’s a black Corvette for £500 on Reverb. It’s been there a while. The seller claims that it’s been serviced and restored to “like new”. You can clearly see that close up that is not the case, but it could be worth a look. Fortress is a good choice, I have one, great bass.
  19. “My original Jazz bass has a couple of dead spots, I just learnt to play around them” - Marcus Miller You could have a raised fret there somewhere…… is the note choking or buzzing?
  20. Ditto 👆🏻 If I had the funds I’d be all over this.
  21. Absolutely take your time. However German Warwick’s can be had on the used market for 500 quid. I would never go for a Rockbass when MIG basses are out there for that price. The “entry level” German made Streamer Standard is a great bass, I love mine as much as the more expensive models I have. Lower output, but fabulous tone. I would be all over one of those rather than a Chinese version all day long. A lot of folk turn their noses up at that particular model, claiming it to be inferior, basic, low output. It was the forerunner to the Rockbass line, but MIG, and is a great little bass IMO.
  22. I have 3 90s Warwicks….. and I’ve had a few others in the past. Fabulous bases…… but……. be careful of the Warwick neck twist….. it’s a thing. I’ve had experience of a couple of Warwick basses (not the current ones) with a twisted (not bowed/relief) neck (at the nut). I had a lovely $$ that was just unplayable because of it. Just something to watch out for.
  23. Same year as mine, classic era Warwick, awesome.
