Ramps
Does anyone know anyone know of any suitable luthiers or whoever in the north of England?
I took my Overwater Progress to er..........Overwater in Carlisle. Martin made me a beautiful ebony ramp which cost 80 quid. It was just stuck down with double sided tape. Further south Ged Green in Cheadle would make you one.
2. There you go Steve, that's exactly what I'm talking about, that's what I want.
3. If you'll take mine away, you can have the basses.
4. In a bid to try and get my old Kinal MK-5 back, I'll sell this whole package for £900, but I can't take a penny less. Tradewise it's all worth at least a grand. I know times are hard, but I think that's a great deal.
5.
Russ, why not track down that Kinal? Just checked FS threads and BC'er Mickb1773 traded it a few months back, so why not drop him a PM and do a bit of Clouseau work ... and see if you can get it back?
I know exactly where it is mate, but it's current owner doesn't fancy a trade, because I've asked. Mick moved it on a while ago, but I know where to. So if I want it back, which I do, I'll have to sell the G&Ls for cash, which in the current climate is difficult. I need to give it some thought though.
6.
Thing is, I get attached to things too easily, I've got three basses and I'd miss any one of them if I chose to sell it.
My problem is, I don't get attached to them at all. I have no problem in trading stuff in and out for a laugh. I really wish I could find a bass to fall in love with, and the one bass that did it for me, I let it go because I'm thick.
7.
I used to only have one bass.... then I signed up to basschat.
Nail on the head. I know what you mean Doc, I dunno, I just like the idea of having just one and really getting to know it's faults and characteristics. When I had the Kinal, I just loved every inch of it and didn't need anything else, then I got a GAS attack and like an utter pillock I sold it to get a Sadowsky, big mistake. So I'm after something along those lines once again.
8. Just fabulous, that's the best bass vid ever, love it. I'm selling everything and getting a Precision .
9.
I think you can spend 1000's on a custom bass that has a john east pre amp or whatever but it will never feel special as there is no character. Its like having a robot for a wife. Itl do everything you want it to but in the most boring and unsatisfying way.
Oh yes I agree 100%, I've played some dire "Expensive" basses, the right name on the headstock, but not one once of soul coming out of it. I've been left cold by some top end stuff, and I've been knocked out by basses that cost a couple of hundred quid.
10. I'm thinking of going back to having one, and one only bass. Just one bass that I can really bond with for gigs, home recording etc. I currently have 3, the two G&Ls in the for sale section and a Fleabass (which my daughter has her name on so that's staying), but I fancy getting rid of the lot for just one special bass. There seems to be so many BCers who have dozens of the bloody things. I haven't broken a string in years, so I don't need a back up for gigs. Anyone else just have the one?

WOW!! That's stunning!!
12. Didn't really think so mate. You're welcome around here of course, but the bag is potentially part of the deal with the G&Ls, so I'm not sure I can let it go until I know where I'm up to with a couple of offerings I'm waiting to hear about later. I damn sure your Overwater will go in the Ritter bag, maybe I could bring the bag round to you on it's own at some stage (although not today) so you could try. Of course there's every chance I'll keep these basses anyway if the right deal doesn't come along.
13. Take the two G&Ls in the Ritter bag and you've got a deal.
14. Leave your Overwater in the bag and you've got a deal Steve .
15. Cheers dubster, I may well hang on to them both, it just depends on what happens, I've got a couple of offers to think about.
16.
GAS Alert! I thought you were G&L to the core?
Yeah, they're fantastic, there's no doubting that, I might well change my mind if nothing happens, and I'll be happy to keep them and save up for another one maybe.
17. After a lot of thought, and some in depth discussion, I've decided to offer up my two G&Ls. I don't like the fact that I have to change between the two of them during gigs for different songs. I just want one bass for the whole set, just one bass that I can bond with and get all the tones I want from that one guitar. Fabulous bass. I've wanted one for some time, and in my favourite colour too, but I'm always skint. I'm sure someone will grab this off you before long.

SOLD
Not wanting to buy but just registering my appreciation for a beautiful bass - items like this really liven up the for sale section!
I agree 100%, I'd love this bass, but it's way out of my league.
20. I go to Wigan all the time with work mate, if you draw a blank elswhere let me know and I'll sort you out.
21. This thread is the future of selling basses. I wish everyone (me included) would make a video like that, first class job, and a first class bass.
22. I really wanted that red TRB6P that was available recently, yet another bass I've fancied for years but never had one. I really must get myself a nice 6er at some point.
23. That's utterly fabulous. The nicest looking Shuker I've seen in a while.
24. I just really don't like distorted lead bass solos. I've never forgiven Steve Lawson for dropping one into one of his tracks on Grace and Gratitude. It's a beautifully atmospheric track (forget the name) then his lobs in this horrendous fizzy bass solo like someone firing up a chainsaw in the middle of Barbers Adagio for Strings, and it's not played very well either. Awful. Lead bass can be good in the right place, but even when some of my favourite players like Adam Nitti or Stevie Williams do it, I'm not keen. I like the bass to groove within a song, while the guitarist or keyboard player takes the lead glory. Stu Hamm for instance, I love his playing within a band, but I hate that tapping thing he does.
25. The Jazz band; Poogie Bell - Drums Adam Nitti - Bass Bluey - Guitar Ronnie Jordan - Guitar The Haggis Horns - Brass Pat Kane - Vocals Sam Brown - Vocals Jamelia - Vocals Herbie Hancock - Keys The Rock band; Neil Peart - Drums Tony Levin - Bass John Petrucci - Guitar Jeff Beck - Guitar Rob Halford - Vocals Jordan Rudess - Keys Both lineups would be different again if I picked them tomorrow.
