1.
But aren't Eventide essentially delay pedals anyway..?
Curses, I've been rumbled! Thinking back, one song we did involved some intentionally freaky-deaky pitch shifting with the Pitchfactor and I could never get it to skip or waver even when playing at the limits of my ability. Which probably says more about the limits of my ability in all honesty...
2. Having played through multiple Eventide pedals for a number of years now I cannot say I've noticed any latency and when I've plugged in directly on other occasions there has been no revelation or increase in immediacy.
3. Easy to deal with and an all round good buyer. Would deal with him again in an instant!
4. Good communication and prompt payment, a good buyer and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again!
5. First 'proper' gig I went to (Motorhead supported by the Wildhearts) I saw a lad get punched by a skinhead who in turn was given a sound drubbing by some bikers. Also played in a pub where a fight broke out, a third man stepped in to break it up which prompted a fourth man to try and fight him! It's not the rule of gigs in the UK but it does happen and it's a bit of a downer when it does. I've also had my car vandalised by gig goers (I saw them doing it) so on balance I'm pleased to be without the aggro!
6. Gave up gigging last year after the originals band I was in broke up and I have to say I do not miss gigging at all. Whilst my situation most likely differs from others here, playing in an original heavy metal band on a small island that has one of the highest rates of alcoholism in Europe could often be a drag, especially as I no longer drink myself. Blue, as an example of the differences in our respective drinking cultures a friend of mine once travelled to the US to visit family. He went to a bar with one person where they tried to order a pitcher of beer each but were refused as pitchers had to be shared by law (I could be wrong but this could be a legal ruling over there?). He was shocked and so was I when he told me this story as we regularly enjoyed drinking steins of beer (35 oz) and on a Sunday night, no less! The two of us would drink probably 60 oz of strong lager an hour for 5-6 hours and we never really stood out as particularly reckless drinkers in even the nicer bars we frequented. So when people here talk about playing to drunk patrons, they can and tend to be extremely drunk!
7. Very nice indeed! You kind of lose yourself in it and almost forget it's on only to catch yourself listening to it later on. But then that's sort of the point of ambient music, right? Two thumbs up, while definitely keep an eye out for the next one.
8. My entry for the month; https://soundcloud.c...bathysphere-dub Think I've managed a bit of a personal record in terms of speed of completion (I partly attribute this to listening to a couple of versions on my iPod while walking home from work. Pros; I can make notes away from the PC. Cons; I feel a bit like a tit listening to my own stuff outside the house. This one's got extra instruments so it sounds like a real band now. It still has no vocals so it sounds like a real band that not many people will go and see.
9.
This is what I've been playing with this afternoon:
How do you find the Side Car works with the Boomerang? Does it add a great deal of functionality?
10. Oooh, swish! As a big fan of delay and someone possibly looking at getting into Strymon (currently own a timefactor) would be very interested to hear your thoughts.
11. Having been the member who couldn't make a gig and the band played on I don't see a problem with this either with or without the additional programming. Even if the programming doesn't work out right you can take the opportunity to play the songs with a new, one-off twist. Who wouldn't enjoy the bragging rights of being at that gig?
12. Hello all, Time for the occasional FX clearout, prices below include postage from Jersey in the Channel Islands. Any questions, just drop me a line! I am the original owner except where noted. As far as trades are concerned, I would mainly be looking at the Tronographic Rusty Box, 3leaf You're Doom, a nice delay pedal or MIJ ESP stuff with cash adjustments where required. Markbass Super Synth £150: This is the original issue and comes with the 12V power supply, used maybe 5 times since they originally came out (!) Source Audio MWBD Pro £100: Still has some of the plastic protectors on it. Source Audio BEF Pro £100: SOLD Still has some of the plastic protectors on it. Boomerang Phrase Sampler £100: SOLD Bought this used a while back to dip my toe into looping. A great pedal that has only been usurped by the Boomerang III. Comes with a US wall wart which can either be replaced with a Whammy psu or just use an American adaptor plug. Blackstar X-Distortion £55: Used maybe 3 times as an emergency backup to the Boss HM-2 which is where my filth needs truly lie. Comes with OEM psu. Zoom 607b £25: SOLD Bought many years ago after I heard 'Anaesthesia' and started a long love affair with little boxes that make my bass sound all strange.
13. I own and thoroughly enjoy the 3Leaf Wonderlove, Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe and Source Audio BEF Pro. If the Manta is anything like the first BEF I would give that the nod simply due to the crazy versatility and relatively low price (seriously, SA offer considerable bang-for-buck). Or maybe have a look, the first generation non-pro version should be out there for very little coin.
I'd you can afford it and don't mind having a massive pedal get the Lovetone Meatball in the classifieds, or go for a clone of it (Robot Factory Meatwad, 3Leaf Groove Regulator).
I had a Meatwad at one point and found it almost completely unusable, only slightly more impossible to dial in a decent sound than the Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk! That said I knew precisely eff-all about filters back when I had them and reflectively kick myself in the backside when I remember selling them!
14. We competed in that a couple of years ago. Well, I say we, I couldn't make the first heat due to being away on holiday so the band entered as a duo irrespective of the fact that if we won I wouldn't be able to make Bloodstock due to work commitments. So this is all second hand information but the other two had a good time playing in 2 heats and the band that eventually won enjoyed playing and seemed to be fairly warmly received. It is a bit of a popularity contest / battle of the bands setup but that's the nature of the beast, isn't it?
15. Wasn't expecting a picture like that, completely removed from what's happening outside my window that's for sure! Got a very rough idea, if I can get even remotely close to it...
16. Somehow managed to pick out a top three to vote for, a very high standard this month. Well done to all concerned!
17.
Where did you buy the Boomerang? There's also the new Ditto X4 from TC. Has midi as well.
I got it from Prymaxe in the US as they were running a 21% discount at the time. They generally will have at least 15% coupons active at any given time so they would be the people to go to. Shipping is fairly cheap as well. Ditto X4 looks cool but seems to lack several of the features that I'm really enjoying on the boomerang.
18. I posted a thread a while back and found this is indeed a bit of a niche request but took the plunge on a Boomerang III and for me it's probably the best on the market. Intuitive controls, the switches are great (the flat format works really well compared to standard switches) and brilliant sound quality. It doesn't store loops, it's expensive and there is a bit of a learning curve but as a live looping pedal it is without compare. IMO, YMMV and all that. Bassbus, you expressed an interest in my earlier thread and I would wholeheartedly recommend the 'Rang.
19.
I'm kind of GAS free at the moment. I've got a Boomerang III coming which I'm eager to play with. Depending on how composition goes I MIGHT grab a BeatBuddy for percussion and midi sync them.
Not long received the Boomerang iii I ordered, I suspect you won't be disappointed. Bit annoyed that the Ditto x4 was announced the following week but honestly I don't think anyone can beat Boomerang, this thing is pure quality! As for me, no real GAS bass-wise. Should an ESP horizon 5 string pop up I wouldn't be able to stop myself, mind.
20. Iron Ether Polytope here. An absolute smasher of a pedal!
21. Midnight tonight? No chance of making the deadline this month but will certainly vote and it will be interesting, as always, to see how the pictures have inspired everyone.
