First you need to figure this program: http://www.linearteam.dk/default.aspx?pageid=winisdpro It is a speaker cabinet simulator, you'll need to model some cabinets you know and like the sound of, and then model the speakers you have available and figure what is a suitable box by tweaking until the graphs come out about the same. It is useful from 200hz and below, for how the midrange 'looks' you need the graph that should come with the speaker. If you search 'WinISD' on here, there'll be a bunch of threads listing it. Some idea of the sound you are looking for will help, as well as listing the speakers that are possibles for yo, and the amp you use.

Sometimes the bridge doesn't agree so well, taperwound strings help with that. A setup is the thing it needs, the specifics are a bit dependent on too many variable factors.
Wouldn't bother, too much fiddling to realise the potential good there.

Someone was using this in the 70s:
I used to gig with an old Acoustic 360 1x18" it would only take about 150w max, but it was quite efficient, and extremely large and heavy!
Do you mean the 301? The 360 was a preamp and went with a powered W horn cab, think was 3 or 400w in the bottom of it. Acoustic were serious expensive toys in the UK then. Definitely more the cabs that weren't up to it than the amps, I'm rocking 70s amps now and they can do it with modern cabs.

That sort of grrr on a budget says Sansamp character epdals, maybe the Hiwatt one, but the VT bass is easier to get cheap and better known, can go pretty cheap on the power amp, and leave budget for a Barefaced cab. Kind of a cobbled together looking rig, but function over form. Peavey IPR is value for money and weight for power amp, a Peavey something else is much cheaper but heavy.
-
Have a bunch of spares for that left over from my project one, but concerned its a horrible Hondo underneath, and only fit for the likes of Peter Hook.
-
Give some sound examples that you are after. And hit up the for sale section. And get a Barefaced cab, if you can find one s/h so it won't eat too much budget.
-
Biggest criticism of the TB is you have to change out the valves to get a clean sound at volume. It has sounds good in the shop syndrome, similar deal with smart power cabs, isobaric alignment means you need twice as much power to get the equivalent volume of half the speakers you are carrying/paying for, the upside is the box is a little smaller. If you have the luxury of time, look out for the Matmap mini bass head that is coming soon; http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1495465 Always best to phone them about the latest, then post about it. And say I sent ya.

Preamp valves totally do wear out, but not in a regular amount of time. Some just die, others keep going forever, some just start sounding rubbish.

Tried shooting an offer to the email address? Will save them feees and they clearly aren't having much luck with ebay. Or make me an offer on my CMI, and I'll get on with sorting the nut out.

Anyone going to make an offer on this Wal?

Like the look of it, but no. -
As a guitarist I've had some lovely stuff...Marshall Bluesbreaker, Vox AC30, Fender Silverface Twin. I love vintage valve combos, portable and sound sweet. I don't like big bloated 70's stacks.
Bloated 70s stacks are the equivalent to those amps, fortunately, things have moved on, part of what has moved on is choice though, which is now huge. Pic out some players/tracks with tones that you are after, work from there.

Doing things correctly with someone who is trying to mess with the system might not work out great. -
Get the Sound City 120 in for sale, and possible the 2x15 that was with it, if I've connected the sellers right. Sort you right out. Edit: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166026-sound-city-b120-all-valve-amp/page__p__1565102__hl__sound%20city__fromsearch__1#entry1565102

Mr. Foxen replied to KiOgon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I just start stuff at what I want for it. I don't really see the point in a reserve, just frustrates people. I don't sell for less that I want, I don't pay for anything if unsold, if its worth loads more to people it will get bid up. -
If he refuses to sell it to the highest bid, he'll end up with a negative feedback from the buyer and will still have to pay the 9% final value fees. Could be expensive for him if it sells for £500 and he wanted nearer £1000. He should really have covered himself with a reserve price, so that he can walk away if the highest bid doesn't meet it.
http://www.e-sue.co.uk/recent_work.htm#
SALES ON EBAY ARE BINDING CONTRACTS ... ... as a seller found out to her cost when e-sue drafted proceedings for Loss of Bargain. Read less Our client won this French dining room table from an eBay seller for just £51.00, which was actually worth over ten times this amount. The seller refused to part with the table and refunded the £51.00 via PayPal, telling our client to sort his problem out with eBay. Instead e-sue drafted county court proceedings for the loss of bargain suffered, which the eBay seller defended vigorously. The court ruled that the winning bid created a binding contract between seller and buyer, and that the seller breached her contract by refusing to allow collection. Judgment for over £650.00 was awarded to our client for the loss of bargain suffered. However the eBay seller refused to pay, so e-sue then prepared to take a second charge over her home, resulting in an immediate bankers draft for the full amount.
-

Overwater/Tanglewood Aspiration bridge problem
Mr. Foxen replied to ead's topic in Repairs and Technical
Few bridges have blocks in like that, and one of same width will work. What is the width, see if the ones in the monorails I have will work. -

Matsumokus tend to have multi part necks, so not sure it is.
