1. Looks like it was made by someone who had no understanding of the actual function of various things on a bass. The intonation in the bridge for a start.
2. The bass hanging up their is probably as much to show what they can do as to be a saleable item in itself. Kind of the point of trade shows.
3. Website for stuff like these is here: http://www.greasygroove.com/categories.php?cat=4
4. One but I think it got damp. When its a dry day out I've got to review my box pile. Shed roof trouble.
5. "You really think is good design? We copied of website making fun of silly looking basses [openes catalogue page showing mostly really shiny Wishbass tributes and that one made to look like a wang]."
6. Reckon he was like the guy in Kung Pow they taught wrong for a joke.
7. Don't need a luthier for a bent machine head. New machine head or a metalworker and a vice. Bit careful to not snap it right off. Pic would tell how to proceed.
8.
Lots of beautiful places in Wales but there's nothing I would say was a musical "must-see", historically or otherwise.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portmeirion cause cool stuff was filme there.
9. To keep all the other stuff the same, you need about the same number of windings, since that related to the amount they will 'magnetise' when current passes through. In practice, I dunno if that happens.

11. Two different ones, or two otherwise the same ones? If they are ifferent it can be everything, if they aer the same, its just the coil winding, which can affect other specs, usually in a fairly minor way.
12.
The Anderton's spiel gives the impression the speaker will handle the bass. Question is, will the amplifier deliver it? From investigating the circuitry of a Selmer Treble'n'Bass 50 - OK OK I know it's not the same thing but get this - the only difference between the bass side and the treble side is the former has a 0.47µF d.c. blocking cap between it's preamp and the phase splitter, whereas the latter has a 0.22µF cap. So if it really is that easy to voice an amplifier for bass vs. treble, then a cheap component from Maplins with a switch (so you can have it as per original, or modded) should be easy to fit and you've got yourself an amplifier that'll do both. The main problem with putting bass through a guitar amplifier is that it sounds somewhat lightweight. The above cap. mod. could well fix that for you. As you turn it up closer to max you may start to worry about what's happening in the o/p transformer too, but at "home" volumes I wouldn't have thought that was significant: the neighours will complain before the o/p transformer begins to suffer. See your friendly neighbourhood amp. tech., and if he contradicts me, then believe him not me!
Transformer is kind of the big deal, the size is proportional to how much low it can pass. Old amps tended toward big ones.
13.
Pup cavities, Rose wood board. Potting wax maybe? Cloth covered wires, the cloth wrap on pups. I'm not sure would the windings of a pup trap it? As said it stains or else nicotine yellow basses would not exist. It could be wiped off.
Screw holes, neck pocket, any damage, as soon as you have to adjsut the neck due to climate changes, you know there is moisture exchange happening.
14.
I've been told by three diff amp techs that it's safe with a valve amp so long as there's no signal received; ie. there's no input lead plugged in. Though it's not something I can ever thing of a worthy reason for doing
No signal maybe, but an unloaded amp can go into oscillation and then generate its own signal, plus preamp generated noise is signal.
15. Single 12 is going to be less directional than a 2x12, the difference is in the voicing.
16. Hre's one of our own with a very similar bass to the OP one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wFsry0JPpo
17.
This post isn't directed at you personally Ed, but let me make myself clear. I wanted to know if basses were damaged by ciggarette smoke because, short of the silks on the ends of strings, there's nothing pourous about any bass I've ever owned.
Only play those non-wooden basses? Think BigRedX is of the same mindset.
18. All standard sort of BS though. Star grounding in spite of all the earthed pots touching the screening, lack of active components within the shielding and such. Some of these people belieive that sort of stuff.
19. Stroud is good to gig in by all accounts, not much else for people to do that go to gigs and smoke weed. Strings are massively a personal choice, so you'll need to say a lot about your tone and playing style/technique, and budget. Elixir strings are expensive, but last ages if you are a fingers player what won't tear the coating off, so you save in the long run, but some people hate the feel. Then you have to figure guage. They are my favoured since I play fingerstyle, nee a bright tone without horrible finger squeak if I slide over them with loads of gain, may be a totally different situation to yours. As for cables, pick a length and message BCer OBBM, makes cables to order of good quality at a good price.
20. If there is a Japanese custom shop for the domestic market, you'll end up with a funny Engrish name as it says here. The "JCCS Certificate." should say its one if the place exists, and additonal work has been done, as necessitated by being a Fender. from the info given it seems to be fine, but the info given might be BS
21. This is how I learned valve amps: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/141102-sound-city-b120-mkiv-restoration/page__hl__restoration
22. Coil tap on a P bass? So you can turn off two of your strings? Sounds handy.
23. Just picturing the Orange Terror bass sat on top of this. Silly.
