1. Watts has no meaning without a ton of other specs supplied. They especially don't relate to volume or SPL.
2. When you say 'surge protector', what do you actually mean? Ones with a passive RCD in, or a plug in RVD are highly adviseable, it is the active current limiting 'power conditioner' jobs that do bad things.
3.
Did you buy the BC Rich Eagle on Ebay?
Yep.
4.
Cheers for the real-world perspective - most speaker reviews I can find are from people using higher powered solid state heads,. We probably have different standards of "loud" though - no Doom required here! I'm loud enough with my current 1x15, so the main thing is not to be less sensitive than that. As far as I can gather from playing around with WinISD, the Kappa 15 in my enclosure has pretty decent efficiency for a 1x15 (around 100dB 1w/1m IIRC), I'd just like it to weigh less. I'm also the only driver in the band, so if I had something like a 2x15", we'd have to rent a van for every gig rather than using a car. As it is, we can squeeze into an estate car. The only efficiency specs I can find for the cabs listed above are 95dB for the Laney NX115 and 100dB for the GK212MBE.
WinISD only tells you useful stuff below 200hz, lots of 'loudness' is above 200hz, so have to be cautious there. I think the Kappa is pretty close to a woofer driver and doesn't have much in the higher regions, so other stuff might seem a lot louder. DB rating on cabs are a bit dodge, sice htere are so many variables they don't mention.
5. Any have/find any pics of him playing a BC Rich Eagle bass? The live in tokyo vids have it, but want some pics, or decent res.
6.
wow, looks awesome - Mr Foxen would probably describe that as serious doom
Doom is serious. But that alone: not Doom. As per the Barefaced site, need other rigs for the mids and highs for distortion. Like this: I got the Super 15 so it would work standalone for my purpose, and just EQ the lows.
7. Excursion is no issue with a 100w head, it is the thing that matters if you puish power. All about sensitivity. A Barefaced Vintage or Super 15 will be really loud with 100w. I have a 100w Carlsbro and a S15, so could probably demo how loud. Reckon the fact my 70w Burman is loud enough is sufficient though.
8.
Hi mate. Not if you are happy to pay your max bid and no more. If you are outbid then it's someone elses problem and as long as you don't get caught up in bidding hysteria(which is the addictive aspect) then you are safe. This guy is using a sneaky way of fixing a feeless reserve. Maybe I'm wrong here and I'm not seeing things clearly or maybe it's because I'm the type of guy who roots for the bad guy in a movie. Either way I don't get what this guy is doing thats so terrible.
I'm less happy paying my max bid than paying less than my max bid. Especially when the bid I'm beating isn't genuine.
9. On Ebay, much cheaper BCer price still applies here: http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&SortOrder=ASCEND&GotoPage=2&SellingNext.Filter=All&View=SellingNext&Column=EndTime&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK:ME:PAGE&StoreCatFilter=0&SubmitAction.ChangePage=x&FormatFilter=AllFormat#GoTo315
10.
Buyers should look at the postage fees, if they don't they are dumb. This guy is a crook without a doubt, but he's up for crookin the big man not the little guy.
The dumb person not checking can still push up my bid, so he is trying to screw me too.
11. Reckon a cunning plan. Plenty of things there someone could convinced themself is a gem among a pile of tat, then get overexcited. I've had odd finds like that, a USA guitar among a pile of scrappers.
12. "Tokai": http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rockinbetter-RG-4003-Jetglo-Tokai-BEST-COPY-OUT-THERE-/190594272176?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c604dcbb0
13. The boots say punk, but the custom boutique rig and coffee table bass don't agree.
14. Kinda missing my TJ one, got made an offer I couldn't refuse on it. Still got my NJ, not had anything sound as good detuned to A.
15.
Like I say, I'm a great big fatty. Pogoing wouldn't be pretty!
Lip up, fatty.
16. I find artistic guidance in artistic terms is well accepted. For mine I asked for styling 'like it had been dragged, or possibly crawled, out of a swamp'. So he can dig the feel you are aiming for, maan.
17. I kind of want some Peavey stuff in my setup, but it has got to the point just about everything I have is better. The Max preamp and the IPR power amp are still sat in the making a whole new rig I don't need area though.
18. From the MM style pickups, is almost definitely a Probass one, so start price is a little high, guess he is happy to court email offers.
19.
I was under the impression that Ampeg had a really good heritage
This = not having to actually rely on a product, because they can rely on a name instead.
20.
Did no one else look at it and think. It's a Wish guitar
Nah, these are wish guitars:
21. At least make up a good excuse. Like the post office is coupla hours walk away with no transport, so I have to account for the time or something.
22. Might be goo to understand a bit more about how 'wattage' and speaker and amps and volume interact before trying to make cabs.
23. I've been up cashwise (not time though) on selling a bitsa bass once. Usually I've applied my by stuff at prices I can expect to recover upon sale policy, so if I no like, I can strip down and sell as parts. But I actually quite like my two bitsa basses, the third one got a bit overcomplicated and I never much liked the body. Think is any whole bass I've had will have been stripped own, reassembled and set up, so not even sure there is much difference.
