I use a low powered head (2 KT77, so 70w in theory) with a Barefaced Super 15, that is two Kappalite 3015 drivers, but the amount of low end you get is a bit dependent on the transformer, my amp has big Partridge jobs, so it has significant lows. If you amp doesn't a higher tuned cab with a midbass hump might be better suited.

Super 2x15s, and stacking them. For manly men.
Mr. Foxen replied to Mr. Foxen's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've had to lug around ChiSeerkind's 4x15 before, as well as the folded horn 2x15 he built. Not an ideal feeling when you have lugged it up a flight of stairs, and then look at the door you have to get it through after, and realise how much narrower it than you noticed before Reckon I'm gonna build a BFM Xfire guitar cab next. Someone buy stuff off me to fund that. -

Lower cab is a BFM Omni 15 tallboy. I don't use them together as the Omni 15 gets on better with SS stuff, not very sensitive an goes much lower than valve amps will really do (although reckon my Matamp Slave will do it, is designed for such shenanigans). Here's the actual rig I use, except with a SC150 instead of a 120 now: The directional nature of side by side speakers means I can escape feedback by going off axis, giving me a degree more dynamic control. -
Please tell me that there is a big heavy valve amp that goes on top as well! Great stuff.
One? Are you calling me a jazz player? -

1x12s = not Doom Vertical stacking: good acoustic engineering. And no scruffy vegetarian hippys will be able to run off with them. Ah, balls:
Actually, looking at the pic below, the logo is in front of one of the ports. Will that not interfere with the airflow?
This pretty much sums up what happens when you let marketting at design.
Trade for a B120 MKIV one plus cash at my side? Also, how do you manage to keep it in such a clean condition? Especially its leather.
Lemme check my amp pile see if I need a B: Hmmm, reckon I'm good. Haven't had it for very long, the thick coral like crust of filth that was on it seems to have preserved it pretty well.

At the moment, I'm putting glue in and sanding over it, see how that turns out.

Splashy bit with the white spirit and danish oil I was using to harden up the bark shows the colours you get from maple, purpleheart mahogany and black walnut:

Probably gonna hang this on the wall in the local shop, but since can't get it there for a bit, giving BCers a chance. Also might sell the neck only so I can put a chunkier one on. Is a pretty nice copy, unsure of its origin, I've fixed the bridge and sorted the setup.

My Aguilar looked a lot like a home made. Specifically the BFM cab I have, same sort of handles, rat fur, grill.
Well, the tech said it was something of this particular preamp design, that most old fender bassmans had the same issue, no more volume from 3, so I believed him...
Doesn't sound very realistic. Can put different value pot in or anything to sort that sort of thing. Only the power stage is limiting on upper volume. You can tell when the power stage is maxing because your ears get a boner.
Wow! Nice amp! But I guess shipping to Spain would be quite expensive, and also I'm not comfortable about shipping valve amps, last time I bought one over the mail came with the valves destroyed. Like your band by the way!
I've just shipped an amp to France, bar the optimistic delivery time quote it arrived OK, trick is to whip out the valves and wrap them, tuck them back in the chassis. Alternatively, buy without valves and have it teched on delivery (which everyone should do really).

If you use one of these: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/158656-sound-city-bass-150-valve-amp/ With a Barefaced 2x15, when you engage a filter distortion, you can get a whole room of metallers to back up from the SPL.

Goddamn, thinking I shoulda overdrawn now.

These are pretty rare, so rare I only have two. This is the in better condition of the two, was merely neglected rather than beat, so it cleaned up well. I've loaded it with 6550 taken out of my Matamp (as put in by Matamp, which I guess is a recommendation), seems happy on these, although should have KT88, I assume it runs them pretty easy due to the 150w part. anyway, passive preamp, not the MKIV one with the undeserved bad rep, the other one is my favourite amp at current, which is a position with a lot of competition (Matamp doesn't have it due to being a slave). I've also replaced the electrolytic filter caps, and uprated them, for a bit more headroom in the lows. After £550 for it.

Figured a plan for hardening up the back part, been sanding around it. I have some Wilko own brand ‘danish oil’ but it is actually a wipe on varnish, leaving a satin plasticy coating. I used it for a door then got some proper stuff. Anyway, the sticky plasticyness seemed idea for purpose if I can get it to penetrate, mixed it 50/50 with white spirit an brushed it on, leaving it to pool in the crevices, and soak in. Will top up in a bit.
