1. Those tuners are really typical of Jap basses. Could easily have bought jap tuners though.
2. 1:13: That's you that is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gBEznBdFxM
3. I got picked up by the drummer and the driver from work on the way to a gig. Since I'm the reliable one, I carry backup most forgettable stuff, like leads and stuff (set in my pedal case, and a set in my gig bag). Stuck my head in the back, checked my amps and cabs and pedals were there, had my bass with me. On the journey, couldn't shake off an uncomfortable feeling, put it down to nerves, first gig outside the South West, and current lady plan was going to be there. Lugged all my stuff up the stairs, set up, sounding thunderously massive, fully felt better. Looked around at drummer stood by his carpet with his drum positions marked out looking about, I have to wait for him to do his thing to get proper levels. However there is no drum kit. "Statick, where are your drums?" "I forgot to put them in the van." "You should probably go an be really nice to that drummer to whom you refused to lend your drums."
4. Since I have a bit of an interest in Sound City amps at this point, a dude got in touch with me about selling his. He said he paid £500 for a full overhaul, that seemed loads, for an amp that might make that if you are lucky. Might have to start learning this amp fixing faster and better.
5. If you have the money, buy the amp, put the valves aside, and wait, tehy are an appreciating asset, and due to their broad international appeal, won't be so screwed in case of economy fun (I just shipped £500 worth of valves to Hong Kong, and aaaargh the tracking website is down).
6.
They ARE taking the piss... Right??
Their QC has been for years.

8. Don't think it will count as working without valves, it won't be right if you just put valves in, needs to be biased, which is a skilled job.
9. I think the lacquer cracks round the edge of the fret, and sweat is drawn underneath by capillary action.
10. He works out of Mickleburgh music in Stoles Croft, basically very close to the center. I'm in Greenbank/Easton. If it is dead simple, I can do it, Eltham is known as The Wizard though.
11. Thought he's spotted a hook hand lady at 1.47, but it was a sparkly bit on a black glove.
12. Various people in Bristol, depending on what wants doing. Eltham Jones is very good, and I'm going to be working with him shortly, so I can pass stuff on if you can't make the days when he is about (as he splits time between various places).
13. Not sure where to put this, but I won it on ebay, and the ebay forum should be where I've got most BC karma from posting all the goodies I can't buy myself. Anyway, won a valve head (I'm running short on them) but its collect only and he isn't up for a courier collecting. So can anyone nearby pick this up, pack it and have my courier pick it up? Or happen to be passing Bristol and want a cup of tea and bass nerding.
14. He pulled it himself (listing vanishes if ebay do it), meaning had to cancel all bids first. And most of the bids were a ton of shill bids by a 0 feedback bidder, and one by me, I bid right away so he couldn't edit his crappy listing. Maybe he got an off ebay offer, or found he couldn't edit it, so pulled it.
15. Well, I pretty much don't put 'selling for a friend' in my auctions, unless I want to say how great it is, to the extent I need to say why I'm not keeping it.
16.
Why do people sell things for their 'friends'? Why don't their 'friends' sell it for themselves?
I sell stuff for friends because my friends have dayjobs an can't be dealing with all the associated stuff. Plus I know more about everything than everyone, so makes it a lot easier for me to answer questions, unlike this guy.
17. Has the same tuners as my CMI one. Shouldn't last long with the R word in there. I also message telling him it wasn't a real one. Funny how he prefers believing the person who told him its a real one.
18. <div>
The advert that you have linked to is no longer available, please find similar adverts below.
boo. Edit: trying to lose all the duff tags.

20. No idea, they haven't given me my parcel. When they give me an itemised invoice, I'll see what they bothered doing.
21. Pretty damn sure that my administrator didn't ask him what he charged. I should really fire them. I think I got a bit of mates rate anyway, his website said he didn't do fretless, or bridges.
22. The £8 isn't a big deal compared to the 85 or so in actual tax. But I stand up to this sort of BS. I've asked for an invoice because that is how you pay a company to provide you a service. Then once they charge the admin fee, I can ask them to do some administration, since they are my paid administrator and sort out some other stuff with customs regarding this bass, like refunding the import duty on the value to the hardware I sent to Wishnevsky.
23. Well, someone bid past the reserve, so it will make more than the BIN. If you ask him, the BIN was £800, maybe he'll still honour it.
24.
I had this issue when I got a guitar from the states off eBay. They told me that they had paid the taxes already on my behalf to customs and excise, and the admin fee was for doing this. I said I'd never asked them to do this, which they said I was welcome to travel to Coventry and pay customs directly myself, thus avoiding the admin fee. When I said I've paid for delivery to my door, they said I had only paid for delivery into the UK, and it was down to them if they then carried it onwards to my address. Just felt mugged. Rip-off Britain.
Did you pay them for delivery to your door? Or did the seller pay another courier to deliver it to your door? Important contractual difference they'll pull if they lose or destroy it. In this case, I'll cheerfully pay for it, if they invoice me for it, because I have no contractual obligation with them currently.
