I'm not living there, just that's where the workshop where I make the metal bits is. The whole town smells of smoked garlic and incense, and all the shops only sell crystals and dreamcatchers. Not Doom. The House of Bass was dissolved at the start of the year. No noise complaints there, in the middle of the city, in spite of the whole testing cabs to see where they fart out in the living room thing.

More to do with the Buy it now being really low. It sold in minutes.

If someone sees something like this pickup only in central bristol sorta area, just grab it, and I can sort picking it up and sending it out for appropriate money (postage, bus fare, a beer) and some time.

Could be loads of things, only way it is worth trying to find what on an amp that cheap is so you know a bit more about such things for next time.

It isn't high string guage you want necessarily, it is high string tension, to compensate for the detuning. There are other ways to achieve it than thicker strings. That said I used a 0.145 for my low A, in steel because the brighter sound is due to stronger overtones.

Totally not worth that much cash. More of a hard to do better at the price at £150-200 sorta thing.

Is pretty comparable to a Ibanez, I'd be tempted by it. Probably a very serviceable bass.

Get hold of a variable high pass, it is more enlightening as to how important frequencies are to tone than charts. Basically, you miss surprisingly little below 60hz, even 100hz still has your tone, but missing a bit of guts. Spent lots of time detuned to A.

Tweeters do tend to show up deficiencies in setup an technique, it is good for practice, but bad for doing stuff. It is pretty likely the tweeter is connected with spade connectors that will pull off/push on. Put in a sticker saying which was which lug, and disconnect them.

Sold to me as working, I did my usual maintenance, of photo everything, open it up, and clean everything, all the sockets with meths and suitable sized cleany things (interdental toothbrush, pipe cleaner, cotton but), sprayed the pots. Visual check of everything, fuse check, and fired it up. Works fine, sounds great, bit of hiss, reckon it needs a recap. Never sure what the deal is with Sound City ratings, the 120 has 6 EL34 so 150w+ by conventional logic. Maybe they worked from a cleaner standard or something. Pretty much going to move on the GECs, don't like putting wear on things I can't replace, and is likely this will be taking over from my 120, anyone wanna buy a 120? Also scrubbed up the case, a voice from above said 'Is that a Hiwatt?'. After a bit of confusion, turns out the guy lining the neighbour's chimney plays lap steel and used to rock a SC50. Oh, I put shorter screws holding the chassis in too, cause there was about half an inch extra going through which meant it took ages to get them out. Cut some high eq might help, or roll off tone on the bass.

Clanking will be the tweeter, might be able to disable it somewhere, knob by the inputs.

They tempted me. But I get tempted by amps a lot.
