Very nice! - Though I'm having slight problems believing the two lil dudes hanging off the end of the PCB are capable of churning out 500W - 250W RMS I can believe. That said, I'd like to see some more info' on the kit though,
It is generally just the heatsink that is a big thing, which you need to add to that.
2. Add this kit to your favourite cab: Plug in your favoured pre.
3. In homage to all the people demanding SS power sections in the valve amp design thread: A KT88 power section.
4.
Only reached £232, yet went "full term". Curious thing, Feebay. Karl.
Ah, what the hell? idn't even watch cause expected it to go down, woulda bid 250.
5. Depending on you cabs loadout, you might be able to rewire it to 2 ohm from 8. Need to know how many and what individual impedance the speakers are though.
6. Good work, nearly added to my watch list, woulda hit you up for a paint job.
7. Helping a friend sell off a pile of guitar parts left by the sad passing of her father (John Hanmore, apparently a respected guitarist), including a pile of left in a shed for 40+ years guitar bits. I sent some photos to some possibly interested parties, and two expressed interest in this pile of parts Figured that might be a bit far gone, but apparently not.
8. I'd think around £200-250 for an emty cab would be right. But I would pay that at this point as I picked up really nice cab recently so am sorted.
9. Finally got these machined. Going for some black action on the first few. Need to figure if they'll fit a real Rick now.
10. Travelling the length of the country, next weekend, so if logistics is putting you off, might be able to deliver.
11. The little bastard would probably be mint, but mostly into a guitar cab, the cab does a lot of the sound.
12. It is marketing spiel. Watts are watts, and 'cab watts' mean pretty much nothing. A 400w valve head isn't going to be more likely to bust stuff up than a 400w SS head, maybe less due to the compression. That said, they can totally still blow a cab rated at more than 400w, because that rating isn't the part that breaks. You just need to match the impedance, and pick a cab you like the sound of.
13. Is it the older one with black proper Celestion speakers?
14. My Dad bought me this in slightly misguided excitment at finding one of those big guitars I like: No so much good to me. £70 posted? I'll set it up and such, it is pretty much new. Might find a strap and some bits for it if it is going to a beginner.
15. If you have a POD and you dig the sound, get that Peavy IPR that umph is selling, and a Barefaced cab to suit your needs. Light weight endgame rig. Sorted.
16. Mate of mine asked me to keep an eye out for one of these, can ya pm an email address or something for him to get in touch?
17. Another Burman Power Pak with a crude recap. I haven't found my Bulgin lead, so not tried it yet:
18.
Don't know if this is true or not, but I was once told by a sound man that Ashdown 8x10s sound a lot livelier than the Ampeg equivalent (which I have never got on with) because they are really 4 stacked 2x10s... Or was that the Ampeg? Anyway, P bass > ABM head > 810 = heaven.
Both are 4 chambers of two speakers each (hence the weight). Some Ampegs are really dull sounding due to the speakers used in them, depends on the year.
19. Brandoni.
20. Get an Orange or MAtamp 8x10, will match the head better visually.
21. I'll let this blonde one go for £475, I kind of got a deal on it, and I don't need two. The first one blew a valve, but thanks to the awesome design, nothing difficult was damaged and I could rebias it myself:
22.
I think that RIC could be challenged on attempting to protect trademark where (i) the word "Rickenbacker" isn't used, thereby there being no apparent attempt to confuse the origin of the item and (ii) the article is secondhand. See this article on first-sale doctrine. I think ash could challenge Ebay over the John Birch he's trying to sell on these grounds.
He can't challenge ebay, because they are entitled to do whatever they like with their own website. Ebay could challenge RIC, but they won't, because it is a tiny amount of revenue they are missing out on.
23.
As for flat not being flat - iirc if the Eden is modelled on the passive tone whats-its-face like say the Alembic preamp (as per the Hartke 500), then with everything at 12.00 it will actually be boosting a bit of mids won't it?
The passive Fender stack can only cut mids. Between my V-type pre and my GS412 I can rattle the lightbulbs but still be inaudible under a bottomy guitar.
