1. Other thing to look for is some of the gubbins inside where the sparking has marked it. That will need a pro repair.
2.
would this run off my ashdown combo ? not sure on the ohm thing lol oops its a Ashdown EB180-15 combo
Disconnect the combo speaker and you are good to go, probably best off having out the amp section. The speaker int he combo won't contribute much anyway.
3. You have cleaned the pins on the bottom of the valves and the contacts in the sockets, right? There are plenty of other places that could be causing fun. If you run it open in the dark, you might see one valve flashing, which would be your explanation, something shook loose inside it, seen it happen on an amp before, looked like fireballs shooting up inside it.
4. Dirty connection, cleaning all the valve basses might help. Pull them all out and stick back in after wiping off visible crud. Cleaning other contacts too, cotton bud and meths.
5. Use the 9v battery trick to check the polarity on both.
6. That guy that walks across the front of the stage waving, and swiveling his eyes, and when you ask him what he is up to, he produces a card saying:
I cannot speak. Barbary pirates cut out my tongue. Can I have a go on your bass, mate?
7. More mids. The GS cabs are scooped, so they don't do the frequencies you hear so well.
8.
'Your drummer's good, but I know someone who can do this gig better.'
This is how The Who were introduced to Moon.
9. Check the connections on the speaker and jack, one being loose and intermittent will do it.
10. I'd say put them up indvidually, all over the place, at a high price, not Ebay, but gumtree and classified adds. Rare things go cheap if you are in a rush to sell, but if there is no competition, you set the price, you just have to wait.
11.
Another thought is to ask someone on here who lives close to you to run through the process with you slowly in exchange for a future favour/beer/food/beer tokens?
I'll do this for anyone round Bristol. I like ales.
12. Thought I might add, if anyone in the US is getting GAS pains from this thread, Midwest Matamp can hook you up. Also on Facebook. Any of the Matamp users here can hit him up and get a band bio page maybe.
13. I was told the smarty caps on the rectifier diodes were an addition on mine, but yours has the same. Maybe it was a standard mod.
14. Word got round about Sound City's now, so they don't go as silly cheap as they did.
15.
I read on some official Rick propaganda that use of any old stereo cable/y-splitter will result in 'unwanted hum and significant loss of treble' - anyone noticed this?
If you use a two core screened cable, you might get some fun, but the OBBM cable is individually screened.
16.
I've read that the rags used with boiled linseed oil have a tendency to spontaneously combust before the oil on them dries. Some kind of chemical reaction. In all honesty, I don't know how true that is, but I've always been really nervous about using it since then.
I read the warning on Danish oil and tried to make it happen. Didn't. The cloth soak in it and dried up did burn cheerfully and real smokey when I had to figure which of my chimneys was connected to which pot though.
17.
You can order these sheets pretty cheaply, the thing is cutting them right so they dont rupture.
Reckon water jet cutting can do that. If people want batches done and can sort the material, I can get that done.
18. Rest is pretty ugly, woulda grabbed this if they would port, because I do like the pickup config: Gould

20. I has OBBM make me a stereo to two mono jack cable. id the job with my dual mono basses.
21. This is a MK4: The one above looks like one of Harry Joyce's (his signature is in some Hiwatts), they don't often look like that, I'd imagine the custom ones for certain bands (such as The Who) looked like that.
22. Er, why hasn't someone bought this? Any preampy type pedal will complete it, and it sounds awesome with Sansamps.
