Totally agree - I got this answer to my stern email from dear old Ebay who have basically whimped out and put the blame on R corps ...... My name is Megan and I?m happy to resolve your query about the removal of John Birch Bass Guitar listing (item no. 140548626245). I understand it can be a matter of concern to have a listing removed from the site. I've checked your account and your listing was removed on the basis of past breach of the policy. Please note that your similar listing was previously removed because RO, Rickenbacker International Corporation sent us a signed legal statement that your item was infringing their trademark/copyright. eBay can?t give you permission to relist them, that?s why it had to be removed from the site. You'll find their contact details in the email notification we sent you when we removed the listing. If you're able to resolve the issue with the rights owner, and they grant you permission to relist this item, we'll reinstate your listing and remove the breach from the account. Moreover, the restrictions are automatically placed on member's account on the basis of severity and repetition of the breaches. Unfortunately, we can't lift the selling restriction from your account. Your restriction will be lifted at the end of the restriction period after you've taken the eBay tutorial. I hope I've been able to explain things clearly. Thank you for your cooperation. Kind regards, Megan Vickers eBay Trust & Safety Hmmm....it totally failed to address any of the concerns i raised of course...I doubt there's any point in writing to Mr Hall and his pedants....I'm interested to find out what the tutorial will be about anyone done one, any suggestions?
Write to Mr. Hall anyway, asking him what is infringing, and what laws, pointing out the country in which you reside. See if you can get a copy of the legal statement out of Ebay. I'm 90% sure it won't apply, and there is probably some sort of action that can be taken against spurious legal letters, although there may be a corresponding that law doesn't apply overseas going on (and it would have to be ebay that takes it anyway).

Handy thing about having a dirt rig that doesn't worry about lows is you can use guitar cabs, so on the shared gear gigs, you can use the second guitar cab, assuming you aren't running two guitars and distorted bass, which is definitely heading messwards. One incarnation of my dual rig had a pair of preamps and a stereo power amp. Is pretty much having two amps in one box. I decided to go for the valve power section on the drive though.
Having clean and effect was my first thought but there is nothing clean about that bass sound. Found an interview where Nate says he uses the AD200 because it gives him more low end and the Thunderverb because it gives him a more guitar-amp bite and that he doesn't use any effects.
The low end is the clean part. Distorting low end tends to make it not low end any more.
-
Downside is having two rigs. Upside is having two rigs. Two same or similar rigs is a bit pointless, aside from more is more, louder, more messy. But clean and effected rigs is great, you don't have low end loss from effects and drive mainly.

Capacitors drain on their own after a while, so leave it off and you are good to go after a day or so, the resistors bridging the end are for that. Don't lick anything in there or clean it with soapy water are the main things. Take a bunch of photos, clean off any cobwebs and stuff that is bridging components, clean contacts with alcohol or similar. Avoid messy solder joints with poking out bits. Lubricate the screw/bolt holes for next time you have it apart, it gets habit forming. Post the pics in the amp guts thread.
If they tried to take it to court though it wouldn't stand as the law doesn't reach here so they have no right to have it pulled.
They have every right to because it is their website, just like mods can edit people's posts here. They probably couldn't keep your listing fee though.
I would love to register the shape and then send them a cease and desist for a laugh. Then sell the UK copyright to them for an extortionate amount of money I wonder how close they watch proposed copyrights to put in against them.
Our copyright law doesn't work like that, you get copyright for an original work automatically, so we don't get that sort of sillyness.
If they come back with the Ricky excuse you should point out that Rics IP doesn't extend outside the US .
The IP thing applies worldwide, but the law that makes it doesn't, wherever something is, it breaches the IP of RIC on US soil, meaning it can't go across the border, so possibly if you are offering worldwide shipping, they have something, and you need to put a 'will not ship to (which is an option).

You can breach copyright here by making the rick shaped object, or supplying goods to make a Rick shaped object. Get them to say specifically what policy.
One thing to watch is that the baseplates are very big on the Fender style ones. On my Mighty Mite neck it was a bit of a squeeze. The D and G baseplates are actually touching - i didn't drill the holes btw! Still they all fit on ok though so not to worry.
I had this issue, ended up grinding off one edge, and a corner poked out from the headstock on one a tiny bit.
Sorry to take the thread OT somewhat, but on this point I've just had an auction end and the buyer immediately message me his phone number and ask me to call him. Do you think it's unreasonable for me to refuse and ask to keep contact to the ebay message system?
Dealing over the phone is loads easier, but send a message confirming what you talk about after. Wanting to talk on the phone is totally fine, refusing will make you look a bit suspicious.

Need to use the line 'Never mind the Buzzcocks, here's UNM' or have a T-shirt made or something.
If memory serves me correctly, BC's Mr Foxen dabbles in this kind of thing
Yep, cheers. Thinking of doing something like this, but haven't sold enough of the Rick plates to pay for it yet. I was going to copy the plate I have on this bass:
f*** me thats mental. Especially as Rickys IP doesn't reach our shores. Someone should do a UK copyright on the shapes and get get ebay to pull every genuine ricky on Ebay for breach of IP laws
Report all the Ricks for being fake Retrovibes.
Yep they keep pulling it and I haven't even mentioned the 'R' word or even shown a full picture - this time I was told the very small picture of the bass which incidently showed no 'cresting waves' or other product identifiable names or shapes or associated artists infringed copyright.... hmmm...
If they took it down with a pic that basically showed some wood and a bridge, just spam them with spurious reports of everything else made of wood. Take more time for them to get to your listing.

I don't think the T part will be great if you get some drive involved.

I have one of those in poor defretted shape if you want it for £30 if ya fancy.

If the limiter cuts them, then it is coming from before the limiter, which will be in the preamp, so before the amp to cab part.
Yes - you are probably right. That's what I think I will do. Are there any decent plans available through the Bsschat site? Thanks, Stompbox.
Depends on the speaker. The cab has to be tailored to the speaker. Throw up what they are, and a bunch of loudmouth internet know-it-alls will give suggestions.
