When you have the speaker out, just make a note of what it is, probably Celestion, and get in touch with Celestion, they may recommend a functional equivalent.

Is it a rosewood baord? Sometimes they can dry up and shrink, especially with aircon and central heating. Soaking the board in lemon oil can have a surprisingly dramatic effect. Skimming the ends off then doing it is the even better option.

Oh, Barefaced 69er is gunning for the original SVT cab tone with modern lightness, dispersion and power handling. Not quite sure of the status since the Barefaced forum went, but is listed on the site without description.

Try a Sansamp VT into something fairly transparent (like any of the other rigs you mention).

Lot of definition is in the mids, and the muff and sansamp tend towards scooping mids.

A lighter flame will sort the scruffy poking out threads after a cutting. Correct application of fire and sharp things will correct most problems.

I think the principle of Caveat Emptor is so named because it has been about since Roman times, or at least since we were in the habit of writing law in Latin, so I think it has stood the test of time as a good principle.

I do sort of want to do it as a business, but those things are a little specialist. I only did the rick plates because three people were interested right away, I've not really had much further interest. Was gonna do P plates next, it is easiest if I have a pattern from which to work.

People like compressors, that do that all the notes the same volume thing, kind of like guitarists that always pay with distortion and never learn to actually play their instrument. I think it might be part and parcel of being in a band to be in a band, go through the motions style, rather than doing it because you have music you need to express.

I think the low end roll off on sealed cabs is the main thing valve amps 'like', but there is probably some impedance thing too that I don't understand yet (see other thread discussing impedance curves). You can get some messyness in the bottom end of some valve amps, that a sealed cab will clear up or something, not something I've experienced, been happily using ported cabs with valve amps, I don't really think it is an issue with well designed cabs, I suspect it is the 'boomy' cab tuned too high that gets loads worse with the valve amp's drive meaning a lot of content in that area.
