Making cabs is pretty simple woodwork. Te design part is litle more fun, but only needs doing once. Do you mean speaker cabs or amp sleeves?

Did you just bung in new valves, or check the amp properly and bias it to suit? Blowing power valves often take some resistors with them which will make it cease to function. Generally its easy to spot when they've done this due to the resistors burning up.

Also twice the price, and about same price as the Kappalite, which has slightly better specs.

Choose two of those things.

You'd need to port the cab and tune it. Plus that celestion probably handles about 100-150w tops.

They were discontinued in favour of the Super 15 because that wasn't the case.

Do you use the pad on the tweeter? Probably best just getting a plain vintage and turning the tweeter up, maybe its already padded some, two separate tweeters will make a mess. Fairly sure there are more Vintages about than that, they were pretty popular among people who refused to believe 1 15 could be enough.

If the cab is tacky enough to break up from vibration, it will be compromising the sound long before that point.

Nail varnish makes a good selection of touch up paint.

Pretty much all amps should not make noise when they are working properly.

What cab are you using? Are you sticking with it?

Cool, glad he got a sale, felt a bit bad for sport haggling followed by spending all my money on more amps so he didn't make the sale. Was considering buying some just to part out.

One of many factors. Its pretty hard to tell if the neck is stiff though. Aluminium necks are assumed stiff and have a bright clangy sound often, but may well be to do with their own resonance. Graphite necks also stiff, and rich sounding, non resonant due to foam filling is probably a factor. Wood is too inconsistent to make generalisations.

He also appears to have put the binging all the way around instead of stopping at the neck block. Also, good thing you didn't post pictures in this thread.

Just read OP. sounds like what happens when you have a bass you are happy with.

The wattage rating of the amp isn't really useful as a limiter to keep your cab safe, cabs can break with much less, listening and turning down is the only thing that keeps cab safe. More speakers will generally help being louder, but mixing cabs can give tone fun.

Get a proper cab not a smart power one.

Geddy is ahead of you.

Ignore knobs position as percentage volume, farting tells you you've exceeded its max. Back off one pickup on your J, both on full scoop the mids, and mids is where dinky combos work. There is probably a bass knob on the amp, turn it down.

V-Type preamp didn't get far into dirt, but heavily depends what you are hitting it with.

If the guy can drop it in Bristol, I can sort shipping easy enough. I've asked my mate in Weston, but he doesn't drive either, so kind of not hopeful scenario.

Couple of teflon discs either end of the spring loses some of the squeak.
