1. If the guy can drop it in Bristol, I can sort shipping easy enough. I've asked my mate in Weston, but he doesn't drive either, so kind of not hopeful scenario.
2. Couple of teflon discs either end of the spring loses some of the squeak.
3. I did a guitar rebuild for a guy like that. Lefty guitars mess with my head enough, that was worse, ended up with more winds on the tuners than I usually do so I had a second chance if it went wrong.
4. The no ventilation does that, need to run dehumidifier in downtime.
5. Massively depends on your requirements for sound and volume. I had the combo briefly, pretty much regarded it as for guitar.
6.
The RH450 is actually up on ebay, shipped from the US, for less than £400 (brand new). Now that's a steal. The psu is auto-switching, so no issues with power either.
Shipped from US means VAT, duty and fees.
7. Soundproofing rockwool is a bunch denser than general insulation stuff, its basically blocks. http://www.rockwool.co.uk/why+rockwool-c7-/sound+proofing
8. Rockwool works as sound insulation by converting the sound energy to heat through friction as the fibers rub together, its a good balance of practical and functional, because two walls with loose sand between is difficult. Other consideration is ventilation, got to keep sound in, but avoid the rooms that stink like a bunch of sweaty blokes are in them often.
9. Can you ship this? Or pack so I can have collected? Rough weight?
10. I emailed them and negotiated a direct discount.
The very best I can do is £40 (+7.99 Shipping) if you were to pay directly over the phone using a Credit/Debit card. Give me a phone on 01383 733 353 Thanks again! Magnus.
11.
Well, almost. It is mildly scary that no-one can begin to determine a pickup's performance from its technical specifications.
Thing is, its dependent on items not present. Like trying to say how an amp sounds without knowing what speakers its attached to. Impedance a pickup is connected to makes a surprising amount of difference.
12. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a2d53c451 Pretty sure it was one of these I hotrdded for Shockwave, not bad with some fettling. Sort of tempted to grab so and part out.
13. A fake pickup will have no output. If it has output, then its real. I've had one bass that had pickups drawn on with pen, that was fake. One technical factor that has no effect on a pickups sound or properties is the brand name associated with it.
14.
If you look at Google images for a particular piece of gear often you'll come up with pictures of items seen or that you have sold on here or on eBay. For example today I was looking at JV Squier basses and I found pics of several I have owned and sold on here - it was especially poignant since there was one I really miss! I guess that once published on a site they are in the public domain for all to see so they could be used anyway, unless you add a 'watermark' ID or copyright.
Copyright comes automatically. There has been some fuss recently about legislation to make it actually legal to use images that are floating around the web where the creator doesn't care about them being used. I've bought an amp on ebay that was using a picture of one of my amps, surprisingly, when the amp arrived, it was not as pictured (since the pictured one was sat in my living room the whole time) so I tapped up the scrote for £50 back for using my image/item not being as per image.
15.
Just looked through his first few hundred listings... and what a load of manky old tat! Everything looks as though it's been retrieved from a skip or a fire damage sale. Even the parts have an unhealthy grubbiness about them. IMO you'd have to be pretty desperate for an item to buy it from him.
Tone grub. Or the funk is in the funk. Sometimes, you need grubby bits to replace bust ones on your grubby instrument, there are threads on how to age hardware. Its a niche. I just got £5 for a battered Sound City amp knob. Spare because I tend to put shiny new ones on restored amps.
16. Looks like I have two CMIs I don't need, a blue one and a natural finish one.
17. Dunno about impedance, but the bigger the cab, the less amp power you can get away with, I'd say a massive cab is pretty much going to be required with only 50w. Amp is old enough to require a recap if its not already done.
18.
Our German "friend" Music Outlet Shop. Full of over-priced crap. Does he ever sell any of the instruments he has advertised? IMO we should put a ban on mentioning any of his eBay listings here. The idiot doesn't deserve even the publicity of ridicule.
13,230 feedback as a seller, mostly parts, but obviously you get a lot of parts per guitar. Some guitars sell, the weirdies, always a shame to part them out.
19. Getting them water jet cut? Sort of thing you can add on to the edges of a batch of something else.
20. Danish oil covers a lot of territory. Some is wipe on varnish and you want to avoid that. You want stuff with tung oil in it, it is basically easier tung oil. Rustins is what I use. I thin it and feed loads to the wood to penetrate over a few days, then do layers of it neat, the more time you put into the initial sanding, the better it looks. Putting it on with fine wire wool does the forming a slurry thing, I wiped it back with a cloth round a magnet to pick up any loose bits.
21. A plectrum stuck in place with congealed sweat is a classic to find under a pickguard.
22. Oils tend to all work the same, just thinner ones like white spirit evaporates. Cleans resin off bongs too.
