1. It is to do with boundary cancellation. The sound bouncing off the walls cancels the sound from the speaker, further away stuff gets mixed up enough it doesn't matter so much cause of all the other reflections going on. Some info
2. For simpler practice without two rigs, I have a little mixer on my board to recombine my split signal to one amp. Problem is it clips really easily, I think the impedance is wrong for the purpose. I did use the FX return and the blend option of a Pro juggernaut and that was fine, but ridiculously heavy for the purpose. What other options?
3. Ported cabs have a hole in to let air into the box, they are generally bottomier and more efficient. 8x10s are usually sealed, bit more primitive, and a bit more its own sound. I have an ABM 8x10 and its not really bottomy enough for me on its own.
4. What 8x10 is it? They don't tend to go very low, ported one might be better. Should be plenty of power if you are after an 8x10 sound. If you have the right sound now, go for more of the same. What are you currently running?
5. There should be a pet drummer scheme. Hit up your local drum teacher, pick a promising student and adopt them, jam with them regularly as a supplement to their lessons, and they'll get better much quicker, then you'll have a tame drummer that knows your playing. And there is no guitarist based problem that can't be fixed with more amps.
6. Great unit with many useful sounds, but I am not taking advantage of the MIDI switching capabilities, so it is a bit overkill for my purposes. Pretty much an industry standard piece of studio kit, rack-mountable, can be used as a preamp for guitar, bass or other instruments, sounds good clean, but the drive settings are what it is all about. All analogue signal path to keep your tone pure, but also MIDI switchable so you can program patches and switch them on the fly for live use. This one is boxed with manual. It is a 110v one and includes a step down transformer and appropriate lead. Manufacturer's site: http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/psa1_1.html Reviews: http://www.harmonycentral.com/products/35239 Looks like HC have changed things there, so they aren't so helpful £225 to BCers.

8. Gutted, you'll have to buy my Peavey 8.5C power amp now instead. And hit the gym.
9. Alien was after the preamp. Shoot him a PM. Was gonna sell him mine, but decided to keep it.
10. Suppose you could try the free solution of stick the Compact on a box. In theory I think that might not work as well as with other cabs since its dispersion is good (although I might be thinking of the Big One, and 15s are much of a muchness as far as that is concerned), but it is free to try.
11.
Love it's tacky-ness. Just the thing to belt out Metallica's Am I Evil?
Grrr. Diamond Head's.
12. If you want the same sound but louder, another Compact. Maybe get the tweeter one if you want the top bit.
13.
And another MIJ Washburn. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Vintage-Washbur...=item414e6d2d84 How much are these worth? I have no idea if these prices are cheap, middling, expensive, or "That German Guy".
I played a white bound one of those and it was very nice and I wanted it. Price is probably upper end of about right, cause they aren't known or popular.
14. Won't lack of partridge transformers and Mullard/Gold Lion valves be a major hit?
15. Could score a new neck easy enough, got all the hardware.
16. What is all the hardware? I think that is where the value in trade of this bass will be determined, it will be dissapointingly low. However skilled the carpenter, they are an unknown quantity and may lack the touch of an experienced bass builder to make things work well for other people. A figure to say roughly what you are expecting in return would give us something to work with. Also, I think the pics on the site are different.
17. With cheap imported stuff, CNC routing etc it is a challenge to find a really bad bass that isn't fairly old. The old Jedsons and such are sometimes properly bad, but essentially a plank with the right dimensions and some mass produced hardware will play fine if it is set up well.
18.
Old thread, I know, but rather than starting up another similar thread . . . Can I connect my Hartke VXL Bass Attack directly into a power amp? Perhaps it might be useful if someone who knows about this stuff could post the factors that determine whether any DI can be connected directly into a power amp? Thanks, Mark
It's the output that is the determining factor. If it isn't really loud into a normal input then it probably won't be great driving a power amp. Also important is the input sensitivity of the amp. Often this is given as a voltage, my Matamp wants 1-1.5 volts to reach full potential, some only need 0.75v. Not many pedals tell you their voltage output.
19. A ballpark equivalent trade value you are looking for would be nice. I quite fancy it.

23. I have a really beat up ebay set it my bitsa P bass, one of my favourite basses.
