Mate is trying to lose one of these, has the jack repaired: Shott me a PM, ideally with a phone number, not a super net oriented guy, if you are interested.

Just picked up a power block for cheap on ebay, planning on passing on to a guitarist. Since its 75w a side stereo, I just plugged my Sansamp into the fx return and plugged it into the rig of Doom (Aguilar GS412 and a ABM 8x10). Does fine, not much really low, but fine, portable solution, except for the cabs. Handy back packable rig for bus jammers.

Inside measurements and port info is the main things. Like length and area of the port. -
That's a pretty annoying thing to say without an explanation.
40 year old amp that's been treated badly enough to kill the power transformer and is grotty is good enough reason.
Surely, with an amp like that in your arsenal, your rig could kill small animals?
Hopefully. Got some trouble with them at the moment.
It really does sound better! The standard Marshall cabs aren't even that thick or heavy compared to the beastly Orange ones. I have two Marshall cabs, one standard 1960a and one oversized one from the Mode Four range with way thicker ply (built pretty much the same as the Orange PPC412). They both have the same speakers and the Mode Four one is much bigger and deeper sounding. Wins hands down.
Get out my forum with your guitar cabs.

Check this thread. It covers all the stuff about why there is a bit more to it than picking a 'good' speaker. You need to tell us more about the box. -
http://www.orangeamps.com/products.asp?Act...View&ID=111 It says neo on the website. What i mean by plastic is the eveness of respons through the frequencies that is too even and too tight to sound natural/musical. Kind of the sound like you have a crappy limiter somewhere in the signal, when you're using a good tube amp and expect natural, breathing, warm sound.Instead the sound gets boxed in in a way that sounds artifitial. Not the best ways to put it but i hope you can imagine a little bit of what i mean.
"Neo-Dineum", looks like they've invented their own tech, only references I can find to it is orange cabs. I figured the weight I'd heard about was from ceramic drivers, looks like heavy woodwork though.

It is also handy for earthing the strings if you have a monorail type bridge.
It's a set-neck Rick 4000 - as far as I know (which I'm not proud to say is quite a long way these days) there aren't any copies of those. I suppose there's a fraction of a possibility that it's a massively obscure copy that either me or other Faker nuts have never seen before, or that it's a custom one-off, but all the evidence points to a Rick 4000, built at the point when this model had a set-neck, which would be between about 1975 - 1987-ish. I'd need a look under the scratchplate, or better, the truss cover to be 100% certain - but I'm OK with 99.8%. J.
So its same sorta job as the guy in this vid has?
Second that,i'm kind of interrested in the actual sound of the actual cab.Especially the SP410. So,i can expect the sound of a 2x10 with lots of lowend for a 2x10,but does it sound plastic like other neo cabs, anyone? The OBC cabs have great warm rock sound. Are the neo's anywhere near that?
Are they neo loaded? And what do you mean by 'plastic'?

I think everyone should note that all your cabs matching is Not doom. One being much more wrecked than the other is acceptible.
-
Definitely a good way to go. I hope you have long hair and a scruffy beard though. Not sure the miniscule delay is the true path mind. Keep the cabs close together, minimise the weirdness from multiple sources. If you are distorting one side, don't worry about the bass loss from your chosen drive, it doesn't matter much, and just means there isn't the second bass signal to cause comb filtering.
I would really worry though, guitars don't put out much that low, surely? It's a 2 x 12" SS johnson combo, about 150W or something. Am I risking anything?
Plug a guitar into a bass amp and you'll hear the low they put out. Their standard lack of bottom happens in the amp, so the bottom reaching the input is no prob, the preamp is made to roll it off.

The Hartke LH1000 and the Ashdown Little Giant 1000 both will power a pair of 4 ohm cabs for their max output. 1000w into a pair of GS212s should sort pretty much everyone. Most PA power amps will also do that, stereo.
If you are clenching your teeth enough to make your jaw ache you must be very tense while you are playing. You need to find some way to relax while you are playing.
It's only been recently, not unlikely its because I have to concentrate so hard to deal with new drummer's dreadful timing, whilst still trying to make up some music. It was worse when it was a jam with him and a guitarist who likes the sound of off key shredding, because 'its free and pure'.
I tried everything above 400Hz. I thought I might risk the guitar amp if I went lower. SF - what you say about combining the crossover signals back together afterwards makes sense. This is what I effectively do with some of my settings.
Guitars put out down to 80hz or something, the fundamental might not be very strong, but they tend to have a pickup closer to the neck than most basses. I'd figure 100hz or thereabouts would be a more appropriate sort of spot, where I plan on setting mine if I start messing with that plan, sounded good in the living room.
I've been doing some quality control consultancy for a musical instrument importer and some of the Chinese stuff is getting scarily good. Witness the Squier Classic Vibe range and how good they're getting.
Isn't that Korean?

Get the RPM1 preamp in for sale section and a power amp. Ultimate Ashdown rig. I'd have got it, but that much chrome is Not Doom.

Since when was ebay a musicians wanted forum ?
Mr. Foxen replied to josh3184's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You put ads up in the local music shop, well, now it's closed, you use Ebay. Anyway, how much more time do you spend looking at gear on ebay than anything else bass related? -
I use a clean blend, but I use it to give extra "punch". RE a crossover - I tried this before, using my peavey combo for clean bass, and my pedals and guitar combo for effects. It sounds awful compared to running both amps from the effects (with the low tuned out fo the guitar combo). Maybe I just like it when the low frequencies are distorted.
Where did you set the crossover point?
