Well i need to sell some stuff first but if your up for it i'd be seriously interested!! would there be a big improvement in tonality/volume over the mag cabs? i'm assuming there would be as the ABM series is pro gear
As I say, different animals, not actually tried the MAG cabs, but am assuming they have rear ports. Sealed cabs roll off in the lows a bit more, but sit happily in the 'loud' frequencies. Everyone loves the Ampeg fridge, which is also sealed, same sort of frequency range, maybe a different 'colour' within that range, although the only ampeg fridge I've played through was a bit of a mish mash of speakers, so not sure if it is good to compare directly.
  2.
Really? She obviously made a mistake when she listed it, why would you try and force her to send it to you?
Not really, it was listed for a reasonable figure for a Big muff, adding a 1 to the front would make it a very odd figure to list something at. Plus if you make a mistake at listing, you have still listed it and sent out your contractual offer, this is why there are so many confirmation stages before it goes live. If someone sold me a wallet for £5 and it had £5 in it, that I knew was there, and they asked for it back, I'd probably not give it back to them. My wallet is in dire need of replacing. Similarly, JoeGarcia is a guy with a chronic shortage of fuzz pedals.
  3.
If loaded with the same drivers it will be but more of the same result.
Mine has black Celestions, pre the blue sicas, think the blues in the ABM are different due to the sealed, but maybe they aren't that sophisticated.
  4.
Thanks you given me alot to think about maybe i could trade them in an find an ashdown ABM 8x10!!! guitarists get it so much easier its not fair!!!! :snob:
If you have 4-500 then you should be able to get an ABM 8x10 easy enough. They aren't like the 4x10s though, they are sealed like the classic Ampeg. In fact, you can have mine for £400. As much as I love it, I need to lose a cab.

  6.
The grub screws on my Badass I are just a tad too short. Does anyone know where I can get longer ones?
You need to raise it more? Have you checked the neck pocket for a shim you could remove?
  7.
Guitarists get away with swapping speakers because they don't use ported cabs they aren't producing much real bass most guitar speakers are similar in design
You forgot 'Their insturments sound horrible naturally and they like horrible midrange and distortion'. I think the Ashdown cabs have tube ports, so if you can find a suitable tube, you can retune them to an extent, easily, but the ports might be a bit small for actually good bass drivers.
  8.
Absolutely: but that pushes the price up for something which might not make much/any difference. Next stop the Gallery.
Well, try them ugly first, then if it does the trick, work the wood.
  9. Better spending that sorta cash on better cabs. Unless you have a fairly good understanding of such things, port cabs and speaker swaps are unpredictable.
  10.
Just like in a shop, if they get the price tag wrong, they HAVE to legally sell it to you at that price.. my friend got a portable HD for £50 which was labelled £49 instead of £99, the shop made the error and they said it was an error but they said they do have to sell it at that price.
The legal positions are different there though. In the shop the price label is an invitation to treat, the contract is when it is rung up at the till. In this case it has got as far as the till and rung up £50. In the shop, if the till rings up £150, that's what your contracts says you have to pay. You could take a civil action against the shop for mislabeling the item, but they would not be forced to sell you the item at the point of sale. Most store policy is to sell you the item and change the label, because it's not worth the hassle, and the staff rarely know otherwise.

  12. Which way are your fingers hitting the stings? if you are pushing them down into the bass rather than across the face of it, that will do it.
  13. Ah, thought someone had mentioned, but it was in another thread, cheers Bigwan.
Tech 6x12 = 43,3”H x 29”W x 16”D
It's neo speakered and is a one handed lift, although the width makes it kinda awkward.
  14. This is still for sale, even though Higgie is undercutting me. Save yourself a fiver and buy his, if it's gone, gutted, you snooze you lose, and I win, cause you have to buy mine.
  15. Have you heard from Grandon recently? Seems to have vanished. This was before he had the custom Kent Armstrong's made for his basses, so guessing these are Bartolinis? Heard the have a rep for being rather dark, and a pain to have stuff fit in the same hole.
  16. Bumping this, even though I was loving it at today's practice, the GS412 is taking its place as soon as there is space.
  17. Whatcha got planned for that V-Type then? Is the Ampeg lighter?
  18. Peavey ones do 4 ohm bridged, mine might be going soon.
  19.
You can't put them on top of each other, because then you'll trigger the "combing effect". Blue touch-paper lit, HJ tiptoes away giggling ...
Speakers are too close together for that to be much of an issue. Its the horizontal dispersion that you will spoil, it will become more directional. And Doom.
  20.
Mmmm, having a second one of these is tempting Stack them on top of eachother horizontally with my tweetered one on top. Lovely.
Putting Claber's speakers next to eachother will implode the world. However a bit later in the year when you want to sell all your gear to buy different stuff, I might give you a pittance for it.
  21.
Is this Vintage constructed with the new lighter ply?
If the one you have is too heavy, you should probably drop the cash on a gym membership.
  22. Blackstar HT Dual of any interest to you in part exchange, this might replace it?
  23. Mr. Foxen

    Matamp

Matamp are oldschool made cabs, which means they are unpredictable, as each different shape/loading has a different sound. Probably a sound that will have a character that will be pleasing with an Ampeg.
  24. The long periods thing is the power compression you get in live PA applications, the subs are working hard, the voice coil warms and it's impedance increases, making them go quiet, they get turned up and get warmer etc. With bass speakers, the are running 'full range' or at least much broader range than a PA sub, and without all the processing (compression, limiting, filtering etc.), so they have less low end high power hitting them, and more low power time to cool off. If the signal is not limited, potentiall a peak can push the speaker past it's Xlim (breaking point) and destroy it, farting kicks in after Xmax (clean limit), so those speaker specs are important, and not just the realms of Claber and Fitzmaurice. Course, with the compressed by distortion sub bass drone in Caricatures, the smell of hot voice coil was not unfamiliar.
  25. Made in Taiwan, in the box with manual, good condition. 1 and 2 octaves down along with clean volume, classic pedal, classic sounds. My EBS octaver does what I'm after, so spare. £50 posted.
