I can't tune the ports as this is a vented cab design.
Ported/vented is the same. Do you mean it is a slot rather than a tube? Principle is the same, just need to make it longer.
Not going well. The seller isn't cooperating at all and eBay sent me a useless reply simply saying I couldn't open a conflict as I haven't paid for the item (I did but was refunded) and I already have another case open (complete non response from another seller after sale). Argh, gonna try phoning eBay tomorrow. Is it worth me sending payment straight back? Hesitant as the refund won't clear into my account for ages.
I don't know why you keep sending the money off like that. Just like with the 99p mic, just request a total, rapidly see if they are going to go through with the deal. Also, as they accept cheques, you can just mark it as payment sent.
Dear Stupid of West Sussex, Thank you for the refund of the money I sent via paypal as consideration for my part of the contract we have entered. Please post the pedal I now own to The House of Bass, Bristol. If I could trouble you to put a not near the address on the outside reminding the postman that he is required to take this package to the address, rather than a note saying he couldn't deliver it, I would be grateful. Cheers. Joe "Fretless 4 eva" Garcia

I'd still feel pretty guilty every time I used the pedal... Don't know what to do.
I'll have it, you get enough muff as it is.

The port tuning of that cab is probably too high for those speakers and the low note is pushing them too far. Try making the port tubes longer with rolled card or something, this will lower the tuning and the lows will roll off rather than farting out the speakers. They still won't be bottomy sounding though.

Mesa / Boogie M Pulse 12AX7 tube replacement help?
Mr. Foxen replied to absentmindeduk's topic in Amps and Cabs
So would I have to swap them both for a 'matched pair' (if such exists for 12AX7's) or can I swap them individually? Short of buying like 3-4 different kinds of valve, theres no way I can test them really, which puts me off a little...
No need to match. Swapping is fun. -
I'm all for getting rid of unnecessary egos on stage.
Sadly, however many amps joe has they can't replace the drummer... Or can they?
Or, if you use a bass amp as well you can sound like a bass and a guitar Rob, I don't want to even think about it for fear of gaining a reputation...
Like your reputation for loving fretless?
Blackstar do some quite nice valve drive pedals
Bit of bottom loss with the dual though. Totally gonna go play with mine right now though.
Absolutely fine then. Why should it blow amps up? That's absolute rubbish as long as you're not trying to push loads of low end from it which you've already said you're not. I've been doing this for ages and it sounds great. Arguably not really required in a band with a big lineup though. I use my dual rig in a three piece stoner/metal/drone band and a four piece (drums/guitar/keys/bass) ridiculous prog/kraut type band and love it.
How many amps recording that album?
-
It's totally fine. Just don't put much bottom through it, or expect any from it. Buncha Marshall amps here.

I think that just means its a Fender style tone stack. There are schematics about of both, could probably get one made in a more suitable box point to point for less than that. Trace B-type is same, think the Peavey T-max/max preamp is similar too.
I'm thinking of fitting a badass to my Precision/Jazz mongrel ? So, big thanks for this topic and especially to Muppet for the excellent diagram - which has made me think this through properly before spending any money . . . always a wise move ! ! I have just taken some measurements and deduced that as my current bridge is set very low, I dont have sufficient string height over the body at the bridge to do a straight swap over to a badass without creating very very deep groves in the saddles ? . . . that leaves me with two options - either shim the neck to kick the string up off the body a little, or recess the badass into the body to make the installation work out ? Any thoughts about which would be the best way to go . . . recess or shim ? ? . . . both from a practicle installation point of view and resulting sound . . would one of these options be likely to produce better sustain ? . . (the guitar sounds very nice already so its not as though Im trying to make up for any more fundimental problems - just fancied trying the upgrade). Cheers,
Shim, it isn't surgery, if you make a real nice shim by sanding the wood at an angle its nest, but a bit of card is the true Fender way.

'Tension' (compliance is the better word) varies between brands of the same gauge, so its a bit bard to predict. Maybe the other dead string fans could organise a pass round so everyone can try various sets.

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting

dodge solder joint opening with the vibration? Get it with other amps/leads? If you attach a jack socket to some crocodile clips, you can have a very handy testing device, clip it to the leads direct from the pickup to bypass the electrics, can find out stuff with that.
My thoughts on the matter:
Shouldn't that be impedance then, since you are specifying frequencies?

Love the way the control cavity cover is matched, but the other wing isn't.

Loose stuff rattling inside it? Such as the lining coming loose, or a wire touching the cone.
