1. Count a Smart Power 2x12 as a 1x12 with two motors, since that is effectively what they are, rather than a 2x12, one of the 12s doesn't move air. effectively, you are better off with a 1x12 with a more powerful motor, one of the super 1x12 cabs.
2. That's not strumming. Cuh, he even says he's a finger picker.
3. Also, you can get taperwound strings and it makes fitting to the bridge easy.
4. Come round my house to try amps, Heron music just down the road. Also, in obscure places, The Loft in Radstock is run by mate of mine: https://www.facebook.com/theloftradstock?fref=ts
5. Are you worried about the bridge effecting the magnetic field of the pickup? It would need to be moving about as fast as a vibrating string to cause much issue.
6. If trade in vintage copies is doing harm to their business, then their action definitely has done a good half a dozen vintage copies worth of damage, because a guy who got annoyed by their attitude took up trade in vintage copies purely out of the need to express that annoyance, because they don't have much truck with copies as instruments, since they are copying a fundamentally duff instrument,
7. Now I actually spotted it says in his sig. Mate of mine is selling the 370 head with 301 cab. Pretty endgame rig if vintage Acoustic is your thing.
8. Give an ABM head a try out. They come up second hard pretty often, so fairly cheap, then put the rest into a good cab. I'll be the guy that says Barefaced, because they are basically way ahead of the competition, should be able to get the guidance direct from them as to specifically which one. Just bear in mind they tend to be much louder than their speaker compliment might lead you to believe, because you are used to pretty crude cabs.
9. That a 220 head? Just picked up another one, sounds really good with the Barefaced cab.
10.
Sorry Mr Foxen, I thought you said Ross Kemp, I was thinking of a bald bloke running away when the music got heavy Back on topic, Rick is a great player and a gent, met him years ago before a Steeleye Span gig in Glasgow and was a top bloke. Great bassist.
11. Checked out his daughter Rose's stuff? Bassist in her band (which I think is done if not on indefinite hiatus) is a member here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_XaFAW51QU
12. Use a multimeter to check the speaker is connected up right and has an intact coil.
13.
I'm pretty sure Alex is the first person in the thread to identify a pertinent issue: That speakers have different impedance ratings at different frequencies. I believe I understand correctly that this is the real reason why tube amplifiers appear louder for their wattage. They are able to output a variable current to match the changing impedance of the speakers over varying frequencies thus applying full wattage regardless of the frequency, which isn't true of solid state amps, so they have a fuller more balanced and efficient transference of energy across the frequency range. Does this sound correct? D.
Not really. Valve amps cope less well than SS one with uneven impedance, part of the reason why some consider them to disagree with ported cabs, and I suspect quite a lot of the reason why they disagree with multi driver cabs with crossover that have weird impedance spikes (nicely designed ones are probably less of an issue)
14.
He probably tried to stop Hipshot marketing it as a 'Rickenbacker Replacement Bridge'. But it clearly hasn't worked. http://store.hipshot...ct_detail&p=215

the new, completely redesigned Rickenbacker Bass Bridge
Is because this is the post change one, the previous one was made to get less complaints like:
I really wish that this bridge looked a lot more like the stock Rickenbacker Bass bridge. This one is very angular and squared off making it look out of place on the instrument. Design, finishand increased tone are worlds beyond the rather crude stock bridge though.
15. Isn't the Jag medium scale? Action looks pretty duff.
16. The Orange has the same EQ as the Mesa and that's very close to a Marshall one. Matamp EQ is related to the one used by the SVT, but the SVT has another section with the midrange control.
17.
The time period avavilable now for viewing completed listings has been reduced from 90 days to 30 days.
Completed listings stay up for months though, seemingly at random. Sometimes I look them up to copy/paste my text, stuff from last year still comes up, other stuff disappears.
18. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COOL-AND-RARE-VINTAGE-70S-KAY-BASS-GUITAR-FOR-EASY-RESTORATION-/130914004066?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1e7b152c62
19. Back: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rockinbetter-4003-Rickenbacker-copy-Neck-thru-bass-/221230306828?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item33825a960c not fixed anything.
20. I think trimming the headstock of a Jazz neck that you like the feel of into a tele shape would be the better way to go, you know the ergonomic par tin advance, so the reshape is just cosmetic.
21. Underground trade is much more fun. Otherwise I'd have no interest in Rick shaped things, since the shape is the shape of fail.
22. EQ is there to fix other problems in your signal chain, to equalise it to the ideal. Neutral cab, bass I like the sound of, and the limited EQ on valve amps suddenly is a non-issue. I think a fair chunk of valve amps sounding right straight away is in the limited eq, less ways to really mess up your sound eqing by eye.
23.
And if you watch it an item, you get to see if it sold and at what price. Helps you build up an idea of what the going price for such an item might be, for future reference.
Useful if doing a completed item search is beyond you.
