1. Stacked in theory is better, if the guitards can do it, you can do it. Mostly, help them set up their stacks, then make them help with yours.
2. Easy. Don't forget to lube your nut for accuracy.
3. All about the multiple rigs. And you don't have to worry so much about the very bottom, cause you have all of the space in the frequency range to play with. Dude from Big Naturals plays through mostly guitar stuff (and a Marshall 8x10), plenty dense enough.
4. Think French chalk is the way. Sandpaper makes them smaller, could make it worse.
5.
so anyone played one? how do they sound? are they loud enough?
Depends what you do and what cabs. Think they are a bit of a collectors item, so could be looked at as an investment.
6. Gonna be 'that guy' and say, try the 2x10 alone and the 4x8 alone, get two of whatever you like best.
7. Coulda done a neater job of winding the strings on too.
8. Might give foil wrapped freshness a try, might be a struggle getting the wires through as they are. Tight hole.
9. The one from my Mockingbird, which I have replaced with the Original Badass, as it had, er, originally.
10. This is my one, its up for sale, guess prostitution more than porn then:
11. I have an instrument to wire up for a chap, he has given me copper tape for the cavities, but I realise all the wires going to and from the switch on the top horn will be unshielded. Is there a way round this aside from sourcing 4 (or 3 as shield is ground) conductor shielded cable thin enough to go through?
12.
I don't really know much about small stuff, but I suppose you couldn't get smaller than a micro amp DI'ed through the PA.
One of them active basses with a built in DI to PA.
13.
gonna need a few pointers to help find someone to recone a couple of speakers in my vintage 8x10.bored doberman ate two of them.TEEERRRRWWWWAT!
Wembley loudspeakers are supposedly the top dudes.
14. Got close with an 86 Japanese Mockingbird. Nearly bought an 84 precision but someone on here scored it whilst I was playing it cool, the one with the dig in the back of the neck, they posted loads of pictures of just to taunt me.
15.
Wonder where that puts my two main gigging basses - both Tanglewoods, one free from freecycle and the other £23 delivered off ebay?
About on a par with a poor Gibson I'd guess. Maybe a little ahead since CNC etc. has improved quite a bit for the far East manufacturers, whilst Gibson like doing stuff oldschool. I had a Gibson, it was pretty far behind my Epiphone, bar the nicer hardware (except the output failed on the day I tried to sell it, never trusted Gibson since).
16. Peavey Firebass will sort you. Plenty of power, solid as a rock. Or a Sansamp into a PA power amp would also be awesome.

12" Cabs.
I've been looking at 12" speakers for bass cabs, and if you want a Neo, the Kapplite 3012LF looks like a good bet. One problem with many 12's for bass is that they are often excursion limited at very low freqs. Low E and Low B strings... You can't use them anywhere near their max rated power... The 3012LF has an Xmax of 9.1mm (comparatively large) and Xlim of 14.5mm - both very good for a 12. Also, it has a decent sensitivity of 95.5dB, whereas many of the other LF speakers have rather lower sensitivity... Better though, is the 3015LF, with sensitivity of almost 100dB - Loud! (but that's a 15). Play with it in WinISD, and see what you think.
Think cause its a woofer driver, you get weird in the mids and rolls off loads as it goes higher, needs to be paired with a midrange speaker plus crossover.
18.
not while the rugby is on my man!!! valve amps are one thing but wales v england????????????? its bigger than jesus
Gutted
19. Sold a set of EMGs to Tom, nearly missed the paypal, cause Hotmail saw fit to junk it, but a PM reminder and no hassle ensued. Cheers.
20. Thunder 1A with soapbar variant. Also appears to be broken in half and taped back together.
21. Move into a house with another gearhead bassist. Stack amps higher than your head. Occasionally gaze at them with smug self-satisfaction.
22.
Well, you might've been able to sell the Schallers to me, if you weren't too greedy - been looking out for a set for my black hardware Rick copy. Anyway - nice looking Thunder, if that's a 3 a the start of the SN that makes it '83. Looks very tidy for its age & not a bad price. Jon.
Just had a closer look with an eye to swapping these for a set of originals, and notice the Schallers must have been put on the wrong way round, then corrected, as there is extra filled holes. Anyway, buy this now if you want the nicer tuners, otherwise I'll whip them off for cashflow purposes.Or message if you want the Westone branded jobs put on it, that would be ideal.
23. Is it the blue speakers one? What sort of stuff are you looking for?
24.
Should'nt there be Gotohs on here as standard?
Westone branded, probably made by Gotoh (think they made the pickups that are Dimarzio copies too). As mentioned, this has been upgraded prior to my ownership. I do have a set of the Westone ones from a 'project' Thunder, But I decided sticking them on would be a lot of effort for a downgrade, as the holes have been filled.
