Apparently Jaco defretted his bass after the double bass he'd just got burst from the humidity. So great things can come of it.

Well, if it can sell for £150 if fixed for £100, you are £50 up over binning it.

I reckon it might be the old cooked crossover. I think that is the actual result of clipping a power amp into the dreaded 'square wave' territory. The square wave killing speakers might be a myth, but it is effectively lots of very high harmonics, it can stick much more power into a crossover/tweeter than it anticipates handling.

Chap who does setup and tinkering for me (basically showed me how to do it so I don't see him much any more) plays one, about the only thing he has thats not extensively fiddled with. Gotta be a good sign.

Should I ever list anything on ebay, I shall be noting this stuff in my listing, such as I will not post until funds have cleared into my bank account etc. More likely I just won't use ebay though.

General consensus is no, its not the output limit of the amp you are hitting. The LGs need a lot of volume going in to get it out, as the preamp is not very sensitive, try boosting your signal before it hits the amp.
