2. Move into a house with another gearhead bassist. Stack amps higher than your head. Occasionally gaze at them with smug self-satisfaction.
3.
Well, you might've been able to sell the Schallers to me, if you weren't too greedy - been looking out for a set for my black hardware Rick copy. Anyway - nice looking Thunder, if that's a 3 a the start of the SN that makes it '83. Looks very tidy for its age & not a bad price. Jon.
Just had a closer look with an eye to swapping these for a set of originals, and notice the Schallers must have been put on the wrong way round, then corrected, as there is extra filled holes. Anyway, buy this now if you want the nicer tuners, otherwise I'll whip them off for cashflow purposes.Or message if you want the Westone branded jobs put on it, that would be ideal.
4. Is it the blue speakers one? What sort of stuff are you looking for?
5.
Should'nt there be Gotohs on here as standard?
Westone branded, probably made by Gotoh (think they made the pickups that are Dimarzio copies too). As mentioned, this has been upgraded prior to my ownership. I do have a set of the Westone ones from a 'project' Thunder, But I decided sticking them on would be a lot of effort for a downgrade, as the holes have been filled.

I think the standard ones in GS cabs are near enough Delta 12LFA, suggested as replacements here.
# Thiele & small parameters # Resonant Frequency (fs): 51Hz # DC Resistance (Re): 6.06 # Coil Inductance (Le): 1.45mH # Mechanical Q (Qms): 7.28 # Electromagnetic Q (Qes): 0.51 # Total Q (Qts): 0.47 # Compliance Equivalent Volume (Vas): 67.9 liters / 2.4 cu. ft. # Peak Diaphragm Displacement Volume (Vd): 243cc # Mechanical Compliance of Suspension (Cms): 0.19mm/N # BL Product (BL): 14.1 T-M # Diaphram Mass inc. 7. So many views, disappointed by lack of pics? Heres some, not great ones: Trying to catch the tuners there, proper nice Schallers, feel really smooth and positive.

9. Bought a wah from Rick. Rapid and smooth.
10. No reason why not. Set mine to tune my low A down to G, wasn't useful, but it worked.

13. Still a bit unemployed, and if I'm honest, this one doesn't do anythind my other P copies don't cover except look cooler and be older. Early 80s Japanese active bass guitar. Maple and walnut center with ash winds, three piece maple neck. Upgraded with Schaller M4 tuners. Has an aggressive Precision bass type sound, with series/parallel option and a bass/treble boost circuit that can be switched in and out. A classic instrument and has become a collectors/nostalgia piece. This one is in good condition except that at some point the Westone logo has been removed (fairly cleanly), and there is a little fret wear visible (nothing you can feel whilst playing. Fairly new Rotosound steel strings on it, still bright and bitey. Welcome to come give it a try if you are near Bristol. Pics to come when I figure this camera.

16. Mate has a lefty Westone Thunder 1A to go, shoot me a PM if interested and I'll chase him up, I won't check the thread, not being a lefty and all, so PM.
17. Apparently Jaco defretted his bass after the double bass he'd just got burst from the humidity. So great things can come of it.
18.
what have you got on the go there!?
Mostly JoeGarcia's stuff, Traynor YBA200-2, Ashdown ABM 8x10, Sunn 1200s and an Aguilar GS412. Think I'd cut my pedals right down at this point to a bad Monkey is an LS2 to dirty up the valve side, and a Bassballs and Octave multiplexer for horrible noise glitching.
19. Welcome to Doom:
20. Well, if it can sell for £150 if fixed for £100, you are £50 up over binning it.
21. I reckon it might be the old cooked crossover. I think that is the actual result of clipping a power amp into the dreaded 'square wave' territory. The square wave killing speakers might be a myth, but it is effectively lots of very high harmonics, it can stick much more power into a crossover/tweeter than it anticipates handling.
22. What is the neck like on this? It looks like it should be beefy, but Ibanez have a skinny habit.
23. Chap who does setup and tinkering for me (basically showed me how to do it so I don't see him much any more) plays one, about the only thing he has thats not extensively fiddled with. Gotta be a good sign.
24. How well did you score on spelling and grammar in your dissertation? Can you post a copy up, I'm curious as to the thinking behind these sort of products, being a 'true-bypass sceptic'?
