1. This thread needs more amp guts though, especially since I put two shots of the same part in and no-one noticed.
  2. The album title gives it away, so no peeking:

  4.
What about the 'dont ever mix drivers' debate that the cabinet designers always state?! Thats what I dont understand. If its done correctly, like TC, why not? Cheers
Its not mixing in the same box, the bit ones will try to suck the little ones in and such like if they are all in the same airspace. Not mixing cabs is cause some cabs are louder and take more power, so the loud one can drown out the weaker one farting out and breaking, or otherwise interfere with each other.
  5.
What about the TC Electronic RS210/212? I heard it and it sure sounded good! TC even have a video on how to set it up so the 10s are further back so more of a balanced mix. Any ideas? Or is it just science? As in, my Orange rig sounds good, so who cares?!
What about them? There are factors other than driver diameter at play. They don't sound good because there are 10s and 12s,, they sound good because they are designed taking all the factors into account (or at least getting them right inadvertently).
  6. This is where the old speaker properties are not determined by speaker diameter thing comes in. 4 10s will have more speaker area so might have more sensitivity, but this could be offset by being in a sealed box. A 15 in the same size box as the 10s with will have more breathing room, so possibly better sensitivity in the lows, plus 15s are generally in ported cabs, also adding sensitivity in the lows. Really, there are so many other possible factors, it all becomes a bit irrelevant to generalise. Basically, anyone who makes a statement about speaker size/number affecting the properties of a cab, outside of other considerations, is wrong.
  7.
Absolutely +1
The original precision and the tele bass were through strung though.
  8. I got it to preamp my Matamp slave, so its in white and green, but I don't hugely need it and am currently 'between jobs'. £50 posted? Probably keep it if it doesn't go fairly rapidly, it is dead handy, but my Sansamp and rack preamp cover the ground. From DHA listing:
The DHA-DI-EQ is a fully balanced XLR DI with a 3 band active EQ plus mid band Q sweep designed to interface between an instrument, Mic or effect at line level to a power amp, PC soundcard or mixer. The DHA-DI-EQ is totally hand build using a high quality PCB and point to point methods, it is built to last and is part of out "Custom Shop" range.
9. Still in my bass, as reluctant to dismantle it until I know they are going. Comes all wired with a 18v adapter so you have a choice of 1 or two batteries, £45 posted. More info
  10. Will let this go for £500 if someone can pay me very soon.
  11. Any momentary switch for the switches. Behringer do one that is solid enough.
  12. Get a feedback loop on your board, see what it does with your other pedals. In fact, one of Umph's switching ones, so you can use it as a bypass loop too, in case of catastrophic board failure.
  13. If you buy in maplins, check everything and believe nothing the staff tell you.
  14.
Go on stage.... play a kick ass bass solo. Set your headstock on fire and then twirl it round your neck without setting yourself on fire. Then stop playing and leave. Don't put the fire out. You want to leave them something to remember. Like the venue burning down.
Bassist for Impaled opens the set by breathing fire using his headstock as a torch. Here's a Doom one. Set up an 8x10 either side of the drummer, stand in a null and turn up till you can hear yourself. Then wonder why everyone watching is clutching their bowels.
  15. You'd kind of hope that bass amplification equipment could take a bit of vibrating really. The direct contact with the floor bit depends on the floor.
  16. Very slightly damp cloth and some detergent if the finish is intact should get the grub off.

    Octave
And notes below low A are a bit pointless anyway.
Not Doom.

    Octave

Octabass sounds kind of like the OC2, but tracks bunches better lower down. Plus mine is for sale.

  20.
Interested in trades at all?
Shoot up what ya have, might be able to find someone after them locally, so could be. I'm really only selling cause I want the cash.
  21.
is the octave multiplexer nano too??
Yes it is. Has effect and dry outs, and a switch, not sure if the full sized is different. Both are in tatty boxes.
  22.
Is it only me that thinks that eternal sustain (or even sustain increased above and beyond BBOT sustain) is never, ever used when actually playing?
Not Doom.
  23. I do need the sustain for the sort of stuff I play, I've not had a fender, but I have had bent tin bridges, and I have had very noticeable improvement with a more substantial bridge. Especially not that the saddles can't slip if I dig in.
  24. Bit used, works fine. Not sure what the switch does because I've never had one. This is dead simple two knob octave pedal, tacks happily down to B, then gets shaky but still makes bottomy sounds, bit better if you roll off the treble. £70 posted. Also have a Nano bassballs and Octave multiplexer going for £35 posted each. Also a line 6 Uber Metal (instant Dethklok) for £32.50 posted.
  25. Mustn't forget this classic: Monster copyright infringement claim.
