1. Sansamp will sort you. If you like shortscale, get a SG bass EB3 or whatever it is, sound awesome into an Ampeg. Amp don't matter so much once you have a Sansamp, matched pair of 4x10s should sort you, one for not so loud, both for being awesome. Don't be tempted by a 15 under a 4x10 though, beause that can suck your brain out through your colon and into the ill placed porting, or something.
 2. Dunno is speaker break up is prized in Doom, thats where the low end dissapears. Vintage 30s are designed to not break up so much, and are the ones to use. Cope with detuning better without turning into a mushy mess.
 3.
Hi peeps, new here and thought this would be the place to get rid of some of the stuff I've had lying around for a while and give it a new home! A while ago I had a friend build me a 4 by 10 bass cab which I finished myself. Long story short, by the time I finished it I'd switched from bass to guitar and now have 4 of these speakers sat at home doing nothing. Once finished, I played through the cab for maybe an hour so they're not broken in yet. They're 10 inch, 200 watt celestions, (BL10-200's), 8 ohms each in good condition apart from the surrounds on the front which are a little tatty. There's also some solder on the connectors which seemed a little obvious but worth mentioning. There is also some discoloration on the back cover of one but I reckon this will come off with some wire wool which I will do before posting. If it doesn't, I will send a pic and we can work something out. Pics can be provided if anyone wants. They're going for £38-50 per speaker or £133.50 for 4 on fleabay, I think £100 for all 4 seems fair. I'd rather send them all out at once but will split them into 2 sets of 2 at £50 each if requested. Postage will vary, one speaker (they weigh approx 3 kilos each) is around £8.97 and 4 come to £22.97 first class recorded. I'm based in Sheffield so can deliver or meet locally within reason. Any questions or priceoffers/trades, please ask and thanks for looking! Gareth
Might wanna keep the wire wool away, it will stick to the magnet and be distressing. Think these are what Ashdown used before they went to the Blue ones, or possibly BL10-150, were better regarded than the blues.
 4. I'm going to get this tomorrow hopefully. Probably better for my purposes. Beans on toast diet beckons.
 5.
yeh sadly i dnt have a 810 or that would be prob solved, but also how do you run them so that your signal is going to both amps? andy
I either split using the outputs of a TU2 tuner, or use the paralell out on my sansamp, or some of my basses are stereo wired to have two outputs, one from each pickup. Other way is running a cable from tuner out, or with amps with multiple inputs you can run a cable as if you were bridging channels, but going between amps.
 6. Not screw back, tighen the tiny grum screws at either side of each saddle. Needs an awkward sized imperial allen key.
 7. People like to see the front of a cab crammed with speakers, with the volume requirements of modern speakers, thats not usually ideal unless you have a very deep cab, fairly sure there should be space on the front.
 8.
hi guys im a bit cross about losing bottom end when i kick in an overdrive or distotion, i still want the savage nasty distorted tone but i want a nice rumbling deep bass tone underneath it. how do you go about setting up this, i know there gonna be a bit of work but im really intrigued and wanna try it out? i use a svt pro-6 going thru a 610hlf cab and was thinking of adding a loud 210 for the effects and that? ive googled and cant find any sort of drawing that show how to do it? andy
Two rigs. Or 3, the SVT 8x10 cab be run as two 4x10s. Search biamp in the wiki, although for that sorta purpose might not want a crossover, just don't worry about low end loss on our distortion.
 9.
the G isn't to far off the pickup (as the action is soooooo low)
Lower the rest and turn up then.
 10.
Assuming its correctly implemented, then it doesn't matter whether the port is on the front, back, side, bottom, etc. Alex
Fairly sure putting the port on the botom is going to fail the implementation bit automatically.
 11.
EMG's go up to 27V, why stop at 18
Diminishing returns innit.
 12.
The louder the better haha. How does it cope with guitars?
In what way? Have seen guitar played through a GS412. Or how it comes across over loud guitar, check sig I guess, although that was studio trickery, it was all recordeed live, miced and di-ed with everyone playing in the room at once.
 13. The batteries can be fairly seperate, I managed to fit a couple into a warlock body, no spacious and a couple into an SG body, (not deep), so its doable. I found it cleans up the sound, instead of sounding like EMG's, a bit compressed and such, its suddenly very transparent.
 14.
Im going to be looking at a new cab soon to run with a Sunn 300T. I am running it with an Ashdown MAG410 which is ok, but I dont think it is the most sensitive and rounded of cabs. I have been looking at an Aguilar GS412 and/or GS212. But wondered if anyone might have some other suggestions that could really handle the power of the amp. I play fairly driven tones with a pick and Pbass, so I was really looking for something that can handle OD and volume comfortably whilst moving some serious air. Cheers.
GS412 will cover you. Used the SS version, Sunn 1200S (Joe Garcia's rig) and it copes ideally. Also ran one with a Laney Nexus 400w valve head, also happy. The Barefaced Vintage would also probably be happy. Ridiculously loud.

 16.
Heya, Just a quick question, I'm buying a Matamp 410 (8ohm) with the intent of getting another soon and possibly an 810 further down the line (depending if this band require it ) . My amp can go down to 2 ohm so would this work? One out -> 4ohm 810 One out -> 8ohm 410 paralleled out -> another 8ohm 410? From what I gather the overall load here is 2ohms right? So if I use both the 2ohm outputs would this work? Ta Ash
Sounds good and Doom. Also, wiring seems right, as long as everything is paralell. MAke sure you push all those cabs real slose together if you are running all off same signal, otherwise you get mad nulls where there is no bass.
 17.
Right as I don't have the budget for another 15" ATM I have a few choices. I could use just the 4X10, I could put both cabs on the same power amp, I could turn the limiter off or as they are bi-amped on a cross-over I could give the 4X10 more to do. Which would work best?
Nothing to gain by turning off the limiter. If the light upsets you, put tape over it. Guessing the 4x10 is on top of the 15? Leave it there, but don't use the 15 and see what its like. Try those things and see what they do for you.
 18.
All the manual says about the limiter is "24. LIMIT: This LED illuminates when the internal limit circuit is activated. This indicates that the amplifier is nearing full output and the limiter is keeping it from clipping the output signal." Hmmm I'm guessing the 15" is causing it as that is 300W, might be worth investing in a new cab.
The watts bit is kind of irrelvant if it is your amp lighting up. Its if you are cranking the 15 side because theres not enough volume from the 15, that you need a second 15. Guessing you are running the classic 1x15 and 4x10. Probably the 4x10 is more efficient all round, so you are getting plenty from that, but the 15 is struggling to keep up. What you really want is a 6x12, will cover everything you are after. Totally trying to explain the 'don't mix speaker sizes' thing without being as much of a douche as I generally think people are when they say it. But I kind of understand it. As a person who lights up clip lights a lot, the problem is probably with your cabs more than your amps.More cabs and more effiecient cabs (sensitivity rating) will probably do more for your volume than anything else. A 2x15 will probably balance volume wise better with a 4x10, and the correspondingly bigger box will give you lower, unless you go for a 2x15 in a 4x10 sized box, when it all falls over. Ah, beer makes this hard to explain. Get big cabs and loads of them, and loads of heads, and be Doom. Awesome and Manly.
 19.
Earplugs are ESSENTIAL.
A lot of the Sunn O))) suond hits you in the bowels, so another plug is also advised.
 20. Best gig we played in Bournemouth, everything went great, no screw ups aside from the guitar cutting out, and me smoothly chording all my parts to fill out till it was sorted (our set was one long song), we played tightly and awesomely. Problem is we just played at about 40bpm between 3 grindcore bands (one minute 160bpm songs). As I sweatily packed up my stuff, a dude who looked like he might be the grown up version of a guy I hated from school waners up to me and says 'Are you in the band that just played?" good question, as I have just been stood in front of you for half an hour making loud noise and am now putting an instrument away. "Yep" "What even was that, it was like grindcore but really slow?" - another great statement, grindcore mostly defined by being fast. "Was it loud?" "Yeah, but it was really slow and dirgey" "Yeah, awesome, that's Doom, totally what we are going for, slow loud and dirgey" "but its crap, there wasn't even any riffs" "Fairly sure there were riffs, was just playing them, spelt out pretty slowly, should be easy enough to catch" "I used to be in a band that was like 9 Inch nails so I know what a good tune is, and you are really bad" "right, might wanna take that up with the guy who writes the music, the angry bearded chap over there." - Just spotted my lady approaching. Then the chap goes over and gives the same spiel to the guitarist, we've just played a raging set, he was ok to staart with, but the guy insistent on telling him how we were crap, after several wanrings to shut up and go away, he dropped the 'There weren't even any riffs" line and got punched in the face. He responded to this with "How dare you?" then more angry bearded men persuaded him maybe going away was a good plan.
 21.
Thing is you're looking at half the power for not much less money if you go the Orange route, less control too. Having said that, don't Laney do a 400watt all valve bass head for around the same money, if not a bit less?
Recorded using one of those (if you mean the Nexus). Fairly fiddly, not stupid heavy considering, brought the doom though. Lots of LEDs, didn't really have the look, prefer Ashdown styling.
 22. All a bit dubious with it at the moment, gonna have to sort a mission over there to get our back, and will do some sort of report on the situation. Suspect a lot of people are in the same situation, and a ton of phone messages might not be the best way.
 23. Rack preamp and lightweight power amp? ticks the boxes, you can lose the power amp if you don't need. I've just put together a pre + power and its the heaviest thing in the world though (Peavey).
 24.
If my four KT88s kisck out over 300 wouldnt their 8 be able to push well beyond 400?
Classic question of what THD? Betting you are loving the grind at that point, whereas Umph is a clean valve sound sorta guy and will be looking at 'clean watts'.
 25. I have a Johnson pedal tuner, metal like a boss, but longer, chromatic led job, will post it to ya for £22.50. Seems to like the low B on my 5 string (before I sold it).
