I've got small discreet plastic dots on my EUB but I could probably do without them.
Is that one visible in your avatar?
I'm waiting for the first Carbon Fibre bridges and machines to appear
Graphite is common for bridges and nuts already. Carbon fibre isn't very suitable as is rubs away fairly easily.

Ashdown MAG410T vs Marshall JCM800 Bass Series 1935A...
Mr. Foxen replied to StevieD_FenderP2009's topic in Amps and Cabs
Played a fair few Marshall cabs, and none were much good for bass. I do mean 'bass' cabs too, but didn't have much bass going on. -
Dunlop 65. It's made for this particular job. I believe silicon in some polishes can affect some paint finishes.
Lots of household furniture polish contains silicone, which can soak into exposed wood, and it will stop you refinishing in future, as if forces new finish off, causing fish eyes. It's pretty much the enemy. Local guitar chap uses autoglym to put a shine back on.

Depends what you want the trem to do. If you don't use it, block it, if you just wanna do a bit of trem with your palm, only need a tiny gap. Just sorted a couple of strats suffering from similar problems.

P-Bass hum that goes away when you touch the strings?
Mr. Foxen replied to Moos3h's topic in Repairs and Technical
I used to have this problem with an old P-bass (wish I still had her...early 80's jap) and to get around the problem I used to use a spare instrument cable, one end tucked into my trousers so it was touching my skin with the other end touching the metal on my amp (held down with some gaffa) sorted!!
I heard a studio had a crocodile clip wired to a spoon for that purpose, clip it to the bridge, and other end tucked into your trousers for humming basses. -

Go to a shop that does model railway bits and get a track cleaner. Its an abrasive impregnated rubber, for shining up tracks, which are pretty much the same as frets.

I've just found I can get them cut, but would have to order 10 at a time. Round up 5 sales of any one pickguard shape and its worth my while. Plain metal or coloured anodising.

I do IT support for Lloyds bank, they have people coming back and forth between India and Shaftesbury Avenue really often, might try and sort somehting.
Two things - yep, I've had others say the Eminence Kappalite 3012 (in both its HO & LF forms) would be a great speaker to use, but at what cost? They ARE inordinately expensive for what is, after all, a small gig back-up cab only...! As to using a smaller cab - that defeat's the object of the exercise. As to the member who asked me to say I hadn;t cut-up an Orange 4x12 cabinet - I hadn't - I'd bought it like that off eBay some years ago!!! At this rate, it would seem that using a pair of Gallien-Krueger 12" NEO speaker might be a cost-effective solution...any thoughts?
A single kappalite 3012 LF and make the other hole into a port.
-
I'd use a bigger ported cab, and Kappalite 3012.
Then there is a solid state output driver, transformer DI and crossover for bi-amping. When I owned one I took it apart and sketched the schematic.
Any chance of a scan of that?

Get newtone to make some for it, no more expensive than hunting down funny heavy strings or a 5 set, and made ideal for you.
Ta for the info. Just got me a non-master volume Vox AC30, looking for something to either overdrive it at low levels (like a power sponge), or a decent tube overdrive pedal - I think the Blackstar or similar is the way to go
[s]Get a blackstar, maybe the HT boost, but whip the valve out and stick something better in it. Stock one pretty much sucks.[/s] Get the DHA VT1 purist, sounds totally ideal for what you want, its funny colours and you don't need funny eq and stuff. It's also true bypass.
-
How does the DHA VT1-Purist compare to the Blackstar HT? Interested!
Not really comparable. They have valves in, thats about it. Blackstar is pretty much a valve preamp, with its own drive and eq such. The VT is more of a valve boost that drives if you push it. Never much use to me outside of a blend, mostly lived with second guitarist to push his unsuitable Marshall Vintage Modern into Caricatures gain.

Got my Matamp back from its service but still need to sell stuff. Mazeti explorer copy, set neck, Mighty Mite motherbucker high output picks with coil taps to tame them some. Black with a white plate and gold hardware, £145 Traded my more practical but much more boring combo for this beast. Totally impractical for me, as much as it is a classic and sits looking cool. I always wanted the 360 my tutor had, now I have a horn cab, I don't need this to satisfy my Acoustic urge. £250. Other stuff: Johnson pedal chromatic tuner, metal, simple, Two outputs, £20 EHX Bassballs Nano, in box, funny/funky noises, normal boss power and dinky £35 Line 6 Uber Metal pedal, ridiculous metal sounds, loads of knobs, bust battery snap I have replaced. £35 Yeah, I put a lot of stuff up for sale, cause I buy lots of stuff I don't need. Or bust up instruments I can fix. Pm for shipping plan, kinda copied from local forum.
that would look sweet. i'm contemplating a matamp rig after i get my shuker
I've done the 8x10 either side thing, its not ideal. Best way is 4x10 bottom, 8x10 on its side on top, then vertical 8x10 on top of that.

BassBod has one, enthused about it and pretty much tells me I should get one every time I speak to him. Fairly sure he'll be along shortly.
That is tasty - but worth noting that the front & headstock have been stripped, the rest is the original black. He says Hondo - 99.9% it's not, there wasn't a through-neck Hondo as far as anyone can tell, so maybe a Shaftesbury. Either way, I don't know who made this. The fretboard looks unlacquered & very orangey - like my Frankenbugger, which is a great player. Having said that, the action on this looks alarmingly high from what I can see - the bridge will lower a lot so it's probably not structural - but if I was going to bid, I'd want to know why it's set up like that. J.
Could well be its cause he strung it BEAD without changing the setup.

Actives seem to do really loud pops if the socket is not happy. Might be a new socket, just a decent stereo jack socket should sort you.
