Got my Matamp back from its service but still need to sell stuff. Mazeti explorer copy, set neck, Mighty Mite motherbucker high output picks with coil taps to tame them some. Black with a white plate and gold hardware, £145 Traded my more practical but much more boring combo for this beast. Totally impractical for me, as much as it is a classic and sits looking cool. I always wanted the 360 my tutor had, now I have a horn cab, I don't need this to satisfy my Acoustic urge. £250. Other stuff: Johnson pedal chromatic tuner, metal, simple, Two outputs, £20 EHX Bassballs Nano, in box, funny/funky noises, normal boss power and dinky £35 Line 6 Uber Metal pedal, ridiculous metal sounds, loads of knobs, bust battery snap I have replaced. £35 Yeah, I put a lot of stuff up for sale, cause I buy lots of stuff I don't need. Or bust up instruments I can fix. Pm for shipping plan, kinda copied from local forum.
that would look sweet. i'm contemplating a matamp rig after i get my shuker
I've done the 8x10 either side thing, its not ideal. Best way is 4x10 bottom, 8x10 on its side on top, then vertical 8x10 on top of that.

BassBod has one, enthused about it and pretty much tells me I should get one every time I speak to him. Fairly sure he'll be along shortly.
That is tasty - but worth noting that the front & headstock have been stripped, the rest is the original black. He says Hondo - 99.9% it's not, there wasn't a through-neck Hondo as far as anyone can tell, so maybe a Shaftesbury. Either way, I don't know who made this. The fretboard looks unlacquered & very orangey - like my Frankenbugger, which is a great player. Having said that, the action on this looks alarmingly high from what I can see - the bridge will lower a lot so it's probably not structural - but if I was going to bid, I'd want to know why it's set up like that. J.
Could well be its cause he strung it BEAD without changing the setup.

Actives seem to do really loud pops if the socket is not happy. Might be a new socket, just a decent stereo jack socket should sort you.

Some southern rock band dude was playing a white SG bass through ChiSeerkind's 70s Ampeg, one of the best bass sounds I've heard, just so right in every way.

You have to find a way of getting the bridge or something metal in contact with it connected to your common earth. Might be able to do the Fender style earth strip from bridge of bridge pickup hole, think of a cunning way to make it look right. Depending on colour, a straight narrow strip of copper foil will do it, if you have one of those stripey through necks, it could blend really well. Or if its black colour it black, it will be in the dusty under pickups and strings bit anyway.

Fender's are likely to appreciate in value eventually. Also, a lot of people can't see past the name on the headstock, even if you can, they will still judge you as a player by it.

measure the outside, the thickness of the board is probably 18mm, also have to deduct the driver and the port. If you are thinking of modelling for a new speaker, bear in mind you'll have to change the port length, or maybe make a new one.
Hi Do you have any more info on the pick ups?
Pretty much the standard P bass EMG active, I made an adapter to run it at 18v, its very clear and defined, but active is a complication for me, can't leave it plugged in. Need space in cavity for 2 9v batteries if you wanna do 18v. EMG website can tell you more specifics than I can.

I love dirt cheap basses. Have managed to spend 6x the amount I paid the bass on new bits before though.

How many strings on a standard bass guitar?
Mr. Foxen replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
4 string basses are extended, real basses are 3 string: -
[I'm gonna have to start putting this answer in my signature lol] I currently tune Drop C Standard for my band FSOF and use string gauges 45-105, with similar tension and action to standard tuning. It's as much (if not more) to do with the core thickness, thicker core, more tension! Try giving Malcolm at Newtone Strings a call, tell him your preferred gauge (what you find comfortable), the tuning you wish to use, and he'll sort you out a tension that works best! Oh and they cost no more than a set of Elite/Rotos Si
I did find Newtones die fairly quickly (especially nickels) but the old meths bath sorts them rought out.

Big up Bristol Massiv! ...of Doom.

Get some lemon oil on that fingerboard. There was a chap selling a bass banjo locally, could chase up, see where it went. Was made out of a drum.

Whatever wood you make it from it still sounds liek a bass, wood has a small effect to the sound produced, but a fairly large effect on the ssound of a bass, since the spectrum of sounds from different basses is very much more narrow that the spectrum of possible sounds. Also consider if the body is vibrating, the pickup is also, and its the movement of the string in relation to the pickup that makes the sound, if the string is still and the pickup moves, sound will be made (like microphonic feedback).
