Just had a practice with Robwaves Peavey 4x10, with sansamp into fx return of a 100w laney head, it outpunched the bass drum, not really ideal with first practice with a drummer, but would normally be a good thing.

Joe is working on it as hard as he can, OK? Someone needs to get themselves a POD and floorboard.
The standard RAT is rather righteous on bass. Alex
Plus there is an easy mod (clip off a diode or something) for more bass and less drive. Can't reccomend the Jugger, it has a pretty odd sound, but good features.
Hello there, just wondered, what speaker is in it, and what wattage is the combo? Cheers, Karl.
Info here: Acoustic fansite Speaker appears to be a replacement, although everything eappears in really good condition, looks more modern smooth black job. -
Or find a Black Russian like mine which benefits from loose tolerances! Alex
Fairly sure there are several black ones. There are two in the House of Bass, one has a matt finish and one is gloss, and their sound is very different (suspect one is bust as it has a fair volume drop).

Fair few basschatters will happily do it for free if you swing by with a bottle of fine stout. Myself included. Where ya based?

I think the results of the Compact road test will need to be in before this play grows legs.
Working on it. I've had the LH-1000 above 6 [where it really gets loud] a couple of times with me Big Juan, but I haven't as yet found a suitable venue for an extended play at these levels and the other bands tend to complain in the rehearsal studio. Quite fancy 2 Big Juans X-fired though.
Joe thinks the living room is a suitable venue to see how loud a 2x15 will go without farting at 2am. What would be the guess for a side by side comparison between a Big one and a GS412 or a Vintage and the same? Thats what he really wants to know.

Ot you can rewire the 8x10s to 16 ohm fairly easily. If they are wired like my ABM 8x10, only need to take of the jack plate and swap some wires. Check with a meter though.

More people should play Banana Phone as their encore.
Question for ya. Do Ashdown sound like sh*t? The reason I ask is, the only decent? amp I have ever owned is a Ashdown mag300. Before that it was all practice amp, small stuff. It`s a few years old and one of the british ones. I took the head out of it and stuck it in a case for ease of transportation. I was in a local shop the other day and heard a guy playing through a Eden ENX260 head and a 6 x 10 Apeg cab and it sounded fantastic! But at 499 it was a bit steep, but on Thoman it`s only 395. Told the guy that I had an Ashdown and he instantly replied Crashdown as they keep breaking down apparently. I keep spending money on guitars but I think that I should spend some cash (not a lot though) on a new head. What about Gk or Hartke? Any tips? Jez
Some Ashdown's were prone to breaking like the Superfly, then they sorted it out, the rep remained. The do loads of ranges at various price points, the higher ones are great, and the cheaper ones can often be great for the price bracket. Pretty good demonstration of why many companies use a different brand for their cheaper lines. Their customer support is great too.

Just had a mate rag it at a gig, there was some concern it might blow up, but I assured him we had a reputation to maintain. Had no response from Sk8 about taking it from me, Apex is next up, but hoping to hear from him.
does that mean you want to be on the tour then?
Yup, Think Joe might be even more enthusiastic, considering before I'd even managed to plug the Compact in, he'd sent me a rambling text and posted a review about how great it was.

Of course everyone wants to play with the bigger cab.

Get a Barefaced Vintage with the right coloured cloth. If you no like, someone will have it from you.
like it's challenging me to really push it.
But when your amps explode, thats just bad luck. Bear in mind the amound of very large cabs that have passed through the house of bass, including the folded horn 18. When I got it back last night, I passed a band loading out from the venue next door, pretty funny to be passing them carrying a 15" cab in one hand and be able to unlock the door with the other, no troubles.

Fairly sure is it is a 90 deg the it should be fine, especially if it is crossed over as comb filtering affects mostly low frequencies. As the off axis disperion of the speakers probably isn't great (why the side speaker is needed) they probably won't interfere with eachother much at all.

I sent a questionto the dude, fairly sure he doesn't actually know:
Hi you can wire this to a standard passsive setup and it will work but the piezos are not as loud as your bass pickups so if your switching from pieos to your standard pickups you will get a sound drop thats why people use a preamp to control the levels Thanks

Hi All , I have been playing for a while now but have recently been playing a lot more death and black metal and as a result have found that when it comes to playing such complex fast music I suck , now instead of throwing in the towel I was hoping somebody could recommend some death or black metal that is fairly easy to play, im never gonna be alex webster but hopefully I can use that as a building block and work my way up to some of the more complex stuff , thanks
Learn to play jazz. That sorta stuff is dead usdseful for death metal. As for Black metal, some is very simple, but there is one thing you definitely need:
The MM Jazz is an awesome Swiss Army Knife. I know a lot of bass players who use one, in a great variety of musical directions from funk to death metal. Great basses.
+1, MArtin MEdez is very present in a dense sounding band:
