Damn, I actually want most of his sig rig. I do not sound or play like Mike Dirnt. I would but a mudbucker in the the neck of that bass.

My left shoulder is pretty screwed from multiple dislocations, I had surgery on it about 3 months ago, and it seems sorted, only thing is I lost a lot of muscle on it (used to work helping a brick layer and do 150 push ups a day before I screwed it) so I have one bony shoulder, where my strap goes. Hoping the physio will consider bass playing when they are giving me excercises and such, but it all seems rather generic. I did notice the fingers of my left hand spread furhther than those of my right also. Also, there is no way I can read braille.except with the ring finger of my right hand (I chew my pinky).

I need lots of sustain. And I use of lot of open notes, no brass nuts though. Could check sig for why.

Cardiff / M4 / S Wales Bass Bash venues? Any ideas?
Cant we just borrow the croft for a day? Nuff room there. Rob.
Most of it doesn't live in the House of Bass, so Croft isn't as convenient as it would appear, still close enough a short van trip will score some nice goodies. Fairly sure even with all the cabs in attendance, Joe will still plug into all of them at once and still turn up loud enough to explode something. -
Looking at my local music store a few weeks ago I noticed that some basses are made in China and Indonesia, both countries which seem to have problems over human rights and ethic issues. Is this a problem?
Its not a problem, it's awesome, I can buy a bass that is totally playable for less than £100 because of it. Then I can sing a song about their plight, which if I understand celebrities and the media correctly, makes it all good. Maybe one day I will hold hands on stage with a token liberated Chinese router slave.
don't expect your money back if you sell it.
Same rule applies as with other rig bits. If you buy the parts second hand, you can expect your money back if you par tit out again. Parts I have rotate between my basses until one is 'done' or someone likes one enough to cover the costs and buys it from me.

Reckon I can make this, have a lady friend in the area. No ideas on a venue though. -
You definitely can. I've done it to most of my basses. The added flex you get in choosing your own bits is the key to making it good over a just expensive bass. Only thing is the neck pocket and such woodwork issues, thing is, with modern C&C woodcutting hard to go wrong. Oh, fret dress too. Its not financially worht it generally, but its cheaper than going custom to get what you are after.
Lots of strongly held opinions here but not much evidence (make that no evidence). This is not the scientific way, guys. It isn't so just cos you say so.
Bill almost never elabourates on why he's right, only on why someone else is wrong. I don't think it is in his business interests to do otherwise. When pressed, Claber will write a huge essay that takes several reads to understand. I prefer the latter approach.

Smallest in terms of total watts was the 300w Ampeg SVT I borrowed from ChiSeerkind in Bath. Ha. Other than that it has bee 475w from the Firebass o2 1200w + 200w from the Sunn and Traynor. Am I in the running?
Ok Cheers Alex Matt
Hassle Shockwave to sell you his Little Giant 1000 and Peavey cab, he needs to get a rig to match his bass anyway (Ampeg and a Vintage).

Resale value and the fact the rounded corners stops the paint chipping so they don't become 'reliced'.
-
Have the EQ, pretty much same as a boss one.

2x10 is a good call, handy enough, and easy to get a second for the fabled pair of 2x10s stacked vertically, although that won't agree with a LHon top. If you get the LH1000 and are worried about the cost, chances are I'll be after one in a few months, so you have a fair chance of recovering most of you pennies. In fact, if you get one, I'll give you a lend of a rack case for it, in anticipation of consideration on resale.

Fairly sure the cab is usually the weakest link in the chain, probably due to misleading power claims and the whole, have more power than cab rating idea.
Unfortunately if Reverb Bristol is your nearest store it has a crap selection of bass gear.
And the worst guy selling it. One of those that thinks there is one sound for bass, and thats an Ampeg into an 8x10 with the treble cranked. I went in saying I was biamping and wanted to try a LH1000 for my low side biamp rig and he plugged me into a sealed 4x10 and turned the bright button on. Then when I said it was the cab lacking lows he told me I was wrong because its a 1000w cab.
Just tried the tapping trick with the end of my car keys on each pole piece and I can definitely discern a louder click/tap on the E/A PUP. Tried a few times just in case I was biasing my tap and I am convinced of the result. Pooped PUP?
Yup, can get rewound or get a new pickup.
Ahh, Cheers I missed them -- Looks like they are not really around yet then -- I think I will play safe and look at an Aguilar DB112 B
Risky, what if its too small? Play it even safer and get the GS412.

Don't go giving people ideas that the Joe '500 amps of doom' Garcia route is the way to go. It's just cursing the poor guy to everlasting GAS. Just swing by the House of Bass to see the consequence of this. After a sale of a cab, it took roughly 4 hours for 4 valve pre/power amps to appear in its place. Anyway dude, PM.
so if you strike a note with a sealed 10 the speaker moves back until it can't compress the air in the cab further then that compression drives the speaker cone back ready for the next signal, with a ported cab it will travel back further creating more sound and pushing more air but on its way back there's not much help from compression so its just the spring in the material to get it back so it must be slower surely.
Its powered both ways so pressure inside and outside the cab affects it both ways. One way you are compressing inside, the other way you are trying to create a vacuum.

What do you mean by fast? Does the ported cab lag behind notes? Fairly sure that thing was made up because that 'slow response to transient peaks' idea would just produce distortion. Mostly, middle agrees with your ears more, which is why people of unsubtle taste are drawn to the sound of guitars, and guitar cabs are sealed, guitars have rather more range than guitar cabs, and sound rubbish if that whole range is being produced, you just want everyhting piled into the middle bit, which is why guitar cabs are sealed with no tweeters; less low, less high. Other forum members have a bit more tech to them, but if you want to argue the 'slow' point, go right ahead, I'll watch. I use a sealed 8x10 for guitar type distortion, loads of mids and not much horrible squeal, but I run another ported cab for lows.
