1.
Does that mean it's old school and vintage? Or just not doom? Alex
Note my sig. Is Doom, in that it is obselete and unlikely to make you popular.
2.
We are now befriendable at: http://www.myspace.com/barefacedbass Oooh, modern. Alex
Dude, Myspace is old news.
3. Pretty much all of mine are carved up. I was once very pleased to sell one of my assembled basses for slightly more than the parts cost me. Can't be dealing with standard stuff.
4. How about this power amp? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/QSC-PLX-1602-Light-W...id=p3286.c0.m14 Also, I think if you go for that much power in valves, I foresee a sale thead of nasty pointy basses entitled 'I need to revalve my amp'.
5. That Aguilar DB680 on Ebay + the Crown power amp in for sale. Ticks all your boxes for knob twiddly, valve preamp, and lots of power.
6.
I have a Fender Stu Hamm Urge 2 and that has strings through body configuration and I use Rotosound RB45s. Theyre an excellent string and not to pricey either.
Aren't Stu Hamm's basses 32" scale? Or is the 2 full scale?

8.
You beat me to it. I know Steve quite well and it is cracking kit he has there. You can take the neck off as often as you like then....
I beat you both to it. Fairly sure I can get the screws and inserts a whole lot cheaper if a bunch of people want to do that. I used allen (hex) head ones for exctra convenience, since a set of allen keys are much handier than screwdrivers.
9.
I have wondered about this but don't believe it to be the case- surely if you are correct lighter strings would be louder, since amplitude= volume? I do stand to be corrected however...
Going via magnets though, the amount the string disturbs the field is dependant on mass moving through that field.
10. Overkill way is have metal ferrules set in the neck and use machine bolts. Can't strip them. Did it on my franken jazz and it was beasty. Might not have such a 'bolt-on' tone though.
11. A mate managed to blow up his Peavey by running most of a PA off it at practice, the trip went, here is his drummers (my ex drummer who forgot his kit to a gig)'s account: 'the power transformer was red hot 15 minutes after the amp transistors had cooled down but even after that had cooled, still no go and we bypassed the trip we removed the connectors and, erm, connected them :)' His suggestion to fix being bypassing the trip that had tripped, then wondering why it still broke.
12.
Ampeg built isobaric cabs and they flopped. As Alex says, there are no benefits that outweigh the drawbacks. If you've got any money to spend on these cabs give it to me. I have much more sensible things on my shopping list!
Or, buy the Isolvent cab anyway, and give it to me. They are 'Foom as Duck'.
13.
The programmable one is too big and has too many features.
Aside from 3 switches, it has less features that the normal one, no second line out. Actually it might have a boost that the normal one doesn't.
14. The isobaric cabs should agree nicely with the huge wattage. There aren't very sensitive but have lots of bottom for a small size (if you like your cabs they way I like my ladies). Damn, I sound like a sleazy Claber.
15. Not diggin it as much as the normal one, although it does kind of the same thing, the lack of second out is a pain. Sort of a feeler as not sure, just want pedal cash to play with. £130 posted, with the box (turned inside out and taped).
16. I'd google it. Not necessarily because I want to view various equipment mounting boxes.
17. I have one of those. You can have it for £50 + post if you fancy. Its beat up though, think my dad might have lost a tuner 'tidying it up' also.
18. The LS2 has loads of functions, probably want to pick oout what one you are after, and make a pedal hardwired to that, depends on what function it is as to how complicated that will work out ot be. Tempted to sell mine.
19.
That looks a decent price! I'm not sure why you doubt how 'warm sounding' the Hartke will be; I've played some SS amps that are far warmer sounding than valve amps and by all accounts the Hartke does a decent impression of valve 'warmth'. Looking at that eBay listing, one thing I'd want clarifying is; what power is the Hartke delivering into what loads? Dual Parallel Mode: 2 x 225 watts @ 8 ohms, 2 x 320 watts @ 4 ohms, 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms I'm thinking/typing out loud here but I'd have to assume that 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms = a pair of 4 ohm cabs releases the full power and that you'd be getting 320 watts into a pair of 8 ohm cabs... yes that has to be it!
Think its 2 x (225w at 8ohm) to equivalent to 550w split between 2 cabs.
20. Working 9-5.30 all this week, home about 6.
21.
i going to cirencester to pick up a 2x15.i can pick it up on the way through.
The 2x15 that I wanted? That you got for opening bid? Grrrr. Anyone else want this? What day and time? Just bear me in mind if you don't like the 2x15.
22. Looking for offers on this. Its clearly a high quality piece of kit, I replaced it with a modern one due to convenience. It works but the voice coil rubs, so it sounds bad until it warms up some then its ok.
