Wishbasses come unfinished, having him finish it is an extra, and he doesn't advise it (I wouldn't either), much better to consider them a blank with all the machinery requiring part done for you. I took a week ever christmas saning mine and then a few evening over a month feeding it oil, pretty pleased with how it came out. I like the thick neck, like a big classical guitar. What woods are there? Mines a purpleheart/maple neck with maple walnut sandwich body wings.

Its not the alcohol either, its people that take something as an excuse to be a dick. You can be a dick sober, in a silent place. Point is that the association should not be the focus of legislation. Hopefully this will bring back the DIY ethic of gigs in your living room. Plenty of illegal raves happen, should work fine for bands on a smaller scale, since they have their own equipment. nless they are those boring folk who DI and have no backline, they are screwed. Oh, and singers will have to buy a PA. I'm happy with instrumental music anyway.
Correct HJ. The VT1-EQ-Bass-Drive and VT2-Twin-EQ-Bass are designed to do this. But maybe not everyone wants a valve as a pre-amp so I have been thinking of doing a SS pre-amp for sometime now. It could be used with other pedals or standalone with a line and XLR balanced out, 3 band active EQ plus mid band Q and maybe a headphone amp and line in for home use without an amp. Maybe one version could have a tuner mute as well? Battery and power supply connections and in as small a box as possible. Anyone interested? Another product I have been thinking of would be the above but with a few FX loops as well, maybe with wet/dry blends. 9 and 12V outs some nice lights for levels, etc. A sort of pedal board interface if you like.
I'd be interested in this, do want a lot of headroom thought, the output from my neck Model 1 + the eye pedals filter tried to clip everything, getting drive on my sansamp even when the drive is down.

Seen a few ABM8x10s go for £300 sort of area on Ebay (cause I totally need a second one). I think ABM vs. MAG cabs are a good demonstration of how much more important the cab design is than the driver choice.

dead batteries, and corner shops in East London

Check the batteries with you tongue or lower lip before you leave the shop. -
Off the back of posts like this, I'm going to build a line driver pedal that will allow the use of normal pedals like the M80 to be used as a preamp. (to boost & control the output up to the right levels to drive a power amp correctly) I've got all the bits, just a matter of getting round to it.. I've even come up with a cool valve version* * I expect a few to come up on the market now lol lol
I could do with one of these.

Also, you might be putting an average of 500 watts into them, there'll be peaks of loads more, and probably a lot of much less than 500 most of the time (unless you play awesome manly music that is entirely droning distortion and feedback).

So, what size is good? seems the holes in my 18" cab are slightly different, meaured OK, in practice not so much (metric vs. imperial I bet). Also, amo doing overtime to cover the cab I bought on Saturdays, so I need to buy online and not see what I'm getting, so someone let me know. Existing screws are an inch and a quarter long.
you both play in one band don't you? At the same time? I think I can hear you from our house....
Yup, Joe is on guitar in it though, actually quoted as saying 'But I need three amps'.

Not sure you need the sensitivity, a pair of those Acme 4x10s would be good I reckon.
Hmm, interesting points, bit of a loss and a gain then. In theory, it would be great to use the 4x10 speakers in the sessionette as it's own cab without the amp (assuming they will take the Mag 600), however i'm not sure how easy it would be to implement that. Perhaps a cheap used Behringer BB115 to compliment the BB210 would work well? Mr.Foxen - Could you describe a bit more what you mean by running the ashdown into the sessionette? Would running the ashdown head into the sessionette amp work? I.e. are you saying it just takes the signal and then lets the sessionette run as loud as i've set it, so it works independantly from the Behringer, which will be taking it's signal and power from the Ashdown? Cheapest option is the best atm
Basically, you plug the Ashdown head into the behringer cab as one rig, then run a lead from the tuner out of the Ashdown (supposing is same as my ashdown) into the input of the Sessionette. Might need to eq fiddle. Score a big cheap 15 and run the ashdown into that with the treble right down, and turn the bass right down on the sessionette would be ideal way for this.
I've been reading through all these posts for a while now and think I understand it (just), but would like to post my proposed setup to double check I haven't missed something. Basically, I currently run a Sessionette 100watt combo (4x10) with a 2x10 Behringer Ultrabass BB210 cab. The cab is rated 600watts @ 8ohms. The Sessionette has an 8ohm port for the cab on the back. However, as the Sessionette is only 100watts, it starts to show signs of weakness when the volumes are all cranked up (which is almost all the time to keep up with the rest of the band). So, am I right in thinking, I will be ok running for example an Ashdown MAG 600H EVO II Head, with the Behringer Cab. The ashdown is 575watts RMS at 4ohms, and the cab is 600watts and 8ohms. Additionally, is it possible that I could get more volume running the Behringer cab with a higher wattage head than running the Sessionette 100 to it's limit (curent setup). Would it be possible to easily cause damage with this setup or do I have the wrong end of the stick? Thanks Roob
Bacially, you aren't going to get more volvuem from a cheap 2x10 than you are from a cheap 4x10. Can you tun the ashdown into the 4x10 somehow? Or, run both, the Ashdown has a tuner out I think so you can use it to feed the other amp, stick the 2x10 on top of the 4x10 standing tall so its pointing at your ears.

Can't really do it, if you make the 2x10s 32ohm (2 x 16 in paralell), then they'll be crawing much less juice than the 15. Otherwise, the 2x10s might have a pair of 4 ohm speakers, in which case you can make them 16 ohm between them (paralell pairs in series). In short, probably not worth it. Other options are a pair of 2x10s are enough (Ashdowns don't go very low so probably not) or a pair of 15s. Running 3 mixed cabs is not the way.
Pure doom!
Sadly, not very doom looking shiny modern cabs. Considering covering them in some sort of grill cloth to pretend they are oldschool. The sound is there, check the Caricatures recording I borrowed one for.

Heavier strings is the way, some nut filing and tweaking required. I had sets wound for tuning to a low A, on a standard 4 string, and it works fine. A 5 string set will sort you, just need hefty speakers for it.
Jeez! That must be sooo crazy loud!
No so loud he didn't borrow my 8x10 also. And he claims its only unlucky he blows up all the amps he touches.
By god I bet thats about as loud as any rig on BassChat.... Nice!
Suspect JoeGarcia's twin GS412s and Sunn1200S (plus another valve amp when he's between exploding them) might have the edge, 4-5 times the size, and many times the weight though.
