1.
I have a 4X15 Acoustic cab (a la Jaco) that I bought in 1980 that should give a fair degree of trouser flap. I haven't used it for 15 years because I can't afford a crane to get it in to the van.
The one with the speakers in the middle facing eachother = Doom is it for sale? As for rig plan, point is, all but three Caricatures gigs were without PA support for bass, so were running off backline. We brought our own totally awesome sound engineer, but had to work with what we had. Suspect new project will be similar.
  2. Run the lows to both B2s and have another amp/;cab for higher stuff, like a guitar combo or something.
  3.
Also if you're going for dirtier sounds then you're less likely to hear the complaints from your speakers as they run into mechanical (over-excursion) problems.
This is the problem with the whole 'if it makes bad sounds, turn down' rule, I have my stuff make bad sounds all the time.
  4.
This is the answer for the op in regards to using the 2x10 and 4x10 together at the same time. Although Alex comes in like the second coming of Christ just in a more engineering manner and spreads the truth via his teachings We should really erect a bunch of statues for him and the other experts like Dave Hall and Bill Fitzmaurice who grace these forums.
#I think its important to note that the power is split evenly between the cabs, but the speakers in the 2x10 will be getting double (provided they are all the same impedance in both cabs, which I'm not sure you can do).
  5.
they are in the same *.wdr format WinISD pro uses, not sure if that's different to the regular non-pro one.
That will be it, I'm using beta.
  6.
Greenboy has lots of the data here: http://www.lowdownlowdown.com/greenboy/DL/WinISD/ Nothing will move more air for the money/weight than the 3015LF. If you can find some pipe that's ~10" in diameter then you can use one of the exisiting 10" holes as a port. In fact if you can find a bigger pipe as well then you could put it behind one of the 10" holes at the top to act as a sub-enclosure and then chuck a guitar driver in there for your mids. Alex
How do I import those? I saved the files to the 'drivers' directory, but they aren't in the same format. I tried copy and pasting the data, but something was wrong as it suggested a .2l enclosure with a 200m long port for 3015LFs. What I was trying to do was figure if I made a box the same size as my 8x10 with a pair of them in, how big should I make the ports. Alternatively, how much low would I get from one in the box from my 6x10.
  7. I hated the tweeter in the Peavey 2x10 I had, even turned down it sounded wrong, possible because it was very directional. I think the bright box is a bit of a rarity, and a bit colectible, I've seen other companies equivalents go much cheaper.
  8. That sounds like brand new steel strings before they've done a setup, loadsa trebly rattle.
  9. With metal coned speakers? In fact, is it the same as the one at the back of this pic: Silly big Cause I've played through that and it sounded plenty low. Tempted to score a pair, seem to come up on ebay fairly often.
  10. I've put a Dimarzio model 1 at the bridge on a P bass (custom narrow spacing on the bridge) and it sounds really nicely defined and you can get some nice squealy harmonics if thats your bag (even on a bass tuned down to A).
  11. Go for a 16 ohm 2x10 so each speaker is getting the same juice, that way the 2x10 won't be breaking when your 4x10 is running at half power. Or get 2 8x10s because it's Doom.

  13.
Ampeg SVP Bass Pod Tech 21 PSA1 All good!
Do you mean the Tech 21 RBI? PSI is the guitar one. I think it would be pretty much the same as using my pedal sansamp wouldn't it? Looking out for an SVP, but also considering cloning some simple classic valve head preamp.
  14. That would cost me the same as the amp; overdraft Doom. Seems a lot of scratch for a small box with few knobs. Not like light weigh/portablility is a factor. What does it actually do? No noise and super duper squeaky clean? I suspect the pennies would be better spend on a beasty cab.
  15. Have my eye on a big valve slave amp and I'll need some sort of preamp for it. It has XLR ins in the front. Right now I have the XLR out on my Sansamp programmable BDDI which I think should do it fnie. But what other options do I have? All the valve amp/cab sim of the BDDI seems a bit wasted. I don't need vast amounts of effects/tone shaping, and am not determined to have an all valve path.

It's ok if you use a blend with it to keep tyour clean lows. The bass version has more usefuul options for bass. In particular the kick drum feature. The resonance filter on the wah is really nice, about the only deature of mine that I miss (I had both versions at once, one on each channel).

  19. A collection in the fairly near future will score this for £75.
  20.
Although his wood working skills are good, his botching skills are terrible.
Probably why we get on so well, I'm an expert bodger, Waghorn covers the pretty side of things.
  21. I want a clear W horn so I don't have to try and explain it.
  22.
"yeah but more cabs is more DOOM" whatever......
There is no 'more Doom', there is Doom, and there is not Doom.
  23.
This will - much more. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/p-audio-p210-254-21-...93%3A1|294%3A50 Put it in a 200/50 litre box and you won't look back. Just make sure you have money in your budget for some castors.
OK, severely tempted to bid on that, even if the Xmax is bunch lower than the 3015lf, just to have a 21, pretty Doom as ALex says. The cab will have tractor tyres. And no more of this 'midrange' nonsense, I'm sorted for it, and it's off topic, as is everything above, say, 150hz. Looking out for the big old Peavey 15 cabs with the white edge bits, not the ones Shockwave has.
