1. Sansamp last, think of it as the amp.
2. Oh, thought of a feature that came with my old valve amp, that seems to have gone out of fashion, the ability to deliver 500v to people touching it.
3.
That would be my doing and my amp as it happens. That gig was massively rushed and running extremely late. The house engineer only had a tall stand for it and nobody was going anywhere near the amp on stage so it didn't matter. Only ended putting it on during quiet sections in the end as the PA was puny and the amp was crazy loud.
We had quiet sections?
4. Stereo inputs and a balance, and fx loops for them. Really I just want two preamps, but with an option to go to a single output. Oh, I'd like coupla bands of sweepable mid, and sweep quite low on it. Hmmm, I'd like a drivey side to be responsive to volume and how hard you play like a guitar amp, but again, probably not of interest to most, just trying to find a pedal that does it is what I really need.
5. A band where the drummer is the best at pulling.
6. This one has some of my face in: 'BarefacedBass: I guess I'll take two then' or 'A little more bass in my monitor please.'
7.
John East's designs are highly praised and he also makes Alan's ACG EQ 02 which is a strange beast. Rather than the traditional layout it's a "filter" based design that's hard to explain and gives rise to some interesting sonic possibilities (but takes a bit of getting used to).
Is that what Entwhistle's buzzard has in that mmade it sound like a wah when he turns the knobs?
8. I traded my EB180-15 for a vintage amp and picked up a EB150-12 to take its place in the living room, the 12 was the previous generation without the toroidal and slightly less output but it was also considerably less good. Not liking it at all.
9. If I can lose my 4x10 or something, I'll have these to put in the bottom half of my Ashdown 8x10 as the damp is gradually killing its speakers. Just need someone to buy my stuff.
10.
LOL he beat me to it...That's the best Warr Guitar player I know. I'm not surprised, that's Mathcore, it takes a bit and with no vocals it's even harder but it's all rock n roll to me.
Stop pretending its not jazz. Plenty of people here listen to jazz, nothing to be ashamed of. Here at least.
11. I set my action high and use heavy strings, this means if I need to get louder I can dig in more, guess that means I have more control over the dynamics just by the way I play. I also play crappy basses because I am too tight to buy a nice one and do all the funny stuff I do to my basses to it.
12. Shim the neck so you have to raise the bridge higher to compensate.
13. Shielding your bass and ensuring a good earth contact. The soldering to the casing is usually the hardest part with a dinky electric soldering iron.
14. That looks great, but I think I'd have extended the bridge plat to cover the hole for the J pup I wouldn't have put in.
15. Ebay-fu Kinda hate being that guy, but I have been after one recently and noted prices.
16. Tried putting something on top of the switch bit inside so its a fraction taller on the bust ones?
17. I'm guessing it is a jack then. I can't be 100% sure as I've never touched that head or pedal, but I have used either sort of footswitch on either sort of socket, and it its done is not functioned like I'd hoped each time I got it wrong.
18. What sorta thing do you have in mind for swaps? Also, check up new prices on Schaller 3d bridges.
19. If its a switch with a mono jack plug on the end it can be one of two sorts, latching or momentary, digital stuff generally wants momentary. Latching means the switch stays in one place when switched, in either on or off, momentary is just a prod that tells when its plugged into to change state. Gernerally if you plug a latching switch into something that wants a momentary, you have to hit the button twice to make it work. See if your head specs mention which sort it is.
20. Sure I commented in another feedback thread long since buried, but have traded a fair few odds and ends back and forth since he introduced me to Basschat. Should definitely have a bassbash of some sort again soon.
21. Higher action is better for sound, you can hit harder, so you get more range of sounds, without rattle, but it will tire your fingers. High action is awesome, low is for guitards. I think people obsess over getting the action low far too much on basses, no-one wants you playing diddly 64th notes. Intonation isn't a huge deal if you aren't chording or playing dead high, and its easy to do with a tuner. What does make a difference is if the bit the string sits on can wiggle about, its going to do you no favours.
22.
Interesting technique, have you always fretted that way?
That's JoeGarcia, we were discussing this thread over beers and he was going to post it, but he is at work (we live together in the House of Bass). Gonna go though his pics of gurningness later when he's back, and he'll sort his proper entry.
23. Can rob the EHX out of my VT1 if anyone really wants a pair of EHX in this. Considering offers also.
24. Got a typo in the header there that got me excited for a second.
