    Room dynamics and simply turing up the amp doesn't necessarily mean the same sound but louder. Its a problem I had lots when I first joined Caricatures, awesome sound from my pedals in my room, turn up to practice and it vanishes.

    Taking off the Jack panel, there were 4 wires, a pair for the top 4 and a pair for the bottom 4, checked witha 9v, easy-peasy.

    Mine has 8ohm, 150w speakers. They are the Celestions not the Bluelines though, but the maths is right if the Bluelines are the same

    If you keep an eye out you can score the Ashdown 8x10s pretty damn cheap, and more is better, if you don't like 1, try 2. My one is the older one with Celestion speakers, so not an ideal comparison with the newer jobs with the Blue Lines.

    If I want to run two cabs in series from one amp, what sort of cable do I have to knock up to do it?

    I really like the profile of the neck on my Johnson bass, its a lot like a bat, thick and round, I was told its like the old tele bass necks, but I've never had hold of one. Gonna be looking for a new neck similarly chunky but with a little more quality, better fretting and finish etc. Any suggestions?

    Another horrible franken bass is on its way, so this one is going through the motions of attempted sale: £175 gets you: solid wood body, Kent Armstrong pickups, Gotoh very adjustable bridge, left handed P neck, with brass ferrules and chunky hex head machine screws holding the neck on, with some sort of figuring in the maple, Wilkinson tuners, stack knob control plate. Since its cobbled together from bits, there is a gap between the scratch and control plates, and the screw heads on the neck plate were hand machined to shape. And the edge dots are on the wrong side. It plays and sounds great, but the faded fiesta red (pink) and the sound are not doom, its my polite sounding bass.

    If it was a 2x15 and had no tweeter, it was likely a sub and only designed to produce low frequencies, which would account for lack of definition. Generally bass cabs are designed to produce full range with tweeters and such, whereas PAs tend to only do this when they are small, larger ones tend to be split into tops and subs with crossover goodness. Although I might have made that all up.

    12Ax7s are abit impractical. There are plenty of other valve that would do the job at far less current draw. They used to be cheap and plentiful is probably why there are the standard preamp valve.

    It just occurred, are you putting speakon connectors on the Vintage? Cause vintage heads don't comewith them, so you'll need a funny cable. And they won't look vintage.
