1. 18v make enough of a change, don't think a few more volt makes much on top of that, and it cab be done for less than £2: In this thread. Not had trouble gitting two batteries in, well, had some trouble, but it was doable after stirring up the spaghetti monster wiring in my heavily modded sg some.
2. There are isobaric bass cabs out there, usually clamsheel type with speakers facing eachother. Bass cabs got a bit boring after that golden age of drivers facing in all directions and folded horns and such.
3. Resale value is not determined by new price, its determined by the market. Generally, I won't consider something at more than 2/3 of new price, as I value warranty and such. If it is something I specifically want and would consider buying new, then I might go 3/4, but this is rare, most of my purchases are GAS fueled. Remember shops are in the business of making money rather than increasing the value of their stock. If they got little money for the trade, they'd not be againing anything other than a slighty less desirable bass (one person specifically doesn't want it, whereas the bass they have one person specifically does want).
4. PA columns can be pretty doom: Dispersion doesn't matter when everywhere is in front of your speakers. Could the 2x12 guitar cab sound better as the speakers were bereaking up some, whereas all 4 were running clean, guitards like funny things?
5. More amps. More cabs. Less guitarists.
6.
The standard reply would be something like; "How many pairs of shoes do you have?"
I'm getting something started with a girl who has no feet. Totally worried about how to explain this whole basses thing.
7.
it is just so damn loud and punchy and clear wherever you stand on stage.
Thing about being loud all over the stage, is it will be loud where the guitarist is, and he'll turn up to match, when I want to be in a place where I can mostly hear me and the drums, and a bit of him. Plus I generally want to be able to step out of the loud sometime so I get note decay, and step back in front for the sustain sometimes. Am I better off sticking with my oldschool cabs?
8. Is the Vintage still coming though?
9. Thing is with the Hartke one, how does that show the capabilities of amp and speaker? No notes have time to breath, they should get some doom drone bands in there.
10.
Had one of them..... Broke first time i attempted to cut an E string. Get down to a hardware shop and buy a decent set of sidecutters/snips.
Way to check they are good is hold it up to the light and se if you can see light coming through between the jaws, you shouldn't be able to when they are closed.
11. Sounds like she doesn't want a rickenfaker, just get it back and sell it again, otherwise she'll be more hassle than its worth. Then report her. Watch all the items she puts for sale and report them too. Then go round her house and piss on her door handles, you have her address.

13. I was watching that bass and would toally have had it if I had a job. Grr.
14. Heh heh heh, 'head'.
15.
I am now saving for the Aguilar GS 412! I like the adjustable cross over / horn arrangement. Thanks for all your help.
There is one in the for sale section, in case you didn't notice. They are slightly shorter that the ABM8x10, but if you stack 2 on their sides, they are exactly the same height. Something to bear in mind.
16. I have an ABM 8x10. Not sure it kicks out the lows of the GS412s that I borrowed, but I haven't been running it with the same setup. Cpurse, you could run, say, to GS412s, and an ABM 8x10. Not sure what that would make you.
17. I think the older Traben 4 strings were 35" scale, they do exist.
18. I went from standard tuning when lerning, to playing with a blues guitarist who detuned a semitone to be more like SRV, to playing with a guitarist in drop D (so I tuned DGCF) to now using ADGC. As a result of this, I have no clue about where notes are on the fingerboard any more, and think in intervals. None of the rest of the band do notes either, so its fine.
19. It soaks into the wood and lifts off other finishes, its bad news in car spray shops also. silicone contamination can screw them right up.
20. Boguht a Nano Bassballs, quick and easy. Cheers very much.
21. Almost certianly won't help the buzz, turning down tone just bleeds off the treble where the buzz is, so taking it out will mean you don't even have that option and will be stuck with the buzz. Have you checked the earth is connected properly? Might be that the only earth connection is through the tone capacitor.
22. The keys player needs a keyboard mounted on a Segway though.
23. Copied from promoter:
FRIDAY 20 MARCH LESSON NO.1 PRESENTS: NADJA A man with a beard and a lady who looks like a character from a webcomic come from Canada to Wales for one night only. While here they intend to send you into paroxysms of pleasedness with a really fantastic musical meeting of shoegazing, ambient drone, doom metal and electronics. Releases on rad labels like The End, Profound Lore, 20 Buck Spin and others. http://www.myspace.com/nadjaluv FALLEN PAINTING Fallen Painting is the occasional project of Nickie Charles, a South Wales vocalist - currently living in Scotland - whose recordings and rare gigs have showcased a skill for acousto-electronic (is that even a term?) experimentation and folky mystery. It really is pretty uncategorisable but ought to be seen. She's collaborated with members of THE DEATH OF HER MONEY and THE SOUND OF AIRCRAFT ATTACKING BRITAIN before, not sure who'll be onstage for this one. It's not really up to me is it. http://www.myspace.com/nickiecharles CARICATURES Bristol-based doom sludge exorcism with members of a bunch of bands from around the way (MEA CULPA and ROSE KEMP's band). For fans of KHANATE, SWANS, MONARCH, NEUROSIS. It's good this, isn't it? Even though we're basically just listing chocolate bars. http://www.myspace.com/caricaturesband 7.30pm-10.30pm (get there early), £5 lessonnumberone.blogspot.com or search for Lesson No.1 on Facebook myspace.com/wearebuffalobar
If anyone can explain the 'chocolate bars' part, I'd be grateful. Packet of cheese and onion and a Neurosis bar please?
24. I'm loath to use mine as the sockets are wicked dodge, shame, cause I sold my rackmount one, and still wanted the ludicrous low end presence it gives.
25.
Nope,I don't like metal,I only play the blues on my BC Riches *I was being sarcastic,in case you missed it*
Of course, BC Richs aren't just for metal, they have a wide variety of sounds suitable for any genre.
