1.
Cheers. There ought to be a supplier of well played in round wound strings for all of us that don't aspire to be Mark King or Duff McKagan. I'll try the Chrome XL route and see how I get on
I've got a couple of grotty sets going.
 2. I might be getting the Allparts neck one in a P bass, if someone buys some of my stuff for sale.
 3.
Personally, I think it's the placement of the pup as much as the pup itself. You could stick a P-pup, a Single-coil or a DarkStar in there and it's still going to lack definition..
I have a P with a Jazz pickup in the neck postion, its pretty bassy, but not totally lacking definition. Well, the tuning to A doesn't help definition, but when it had sensible strings and tuning, its was still ok.
 4. Some valve amps don't go down to 4 ohms, if they do, an 8 ohm cab is still better, as you have the option of a second. The 'full potential' doesn't really apply to valve amps, as they aren't the same as solid state ones, where the output is dependant on load.
 5.
second hand sound city / simm watts / laney / carlsbro. Anything from the 70s with atleast 100watts will get you great loud tone
Once they've been serviced. Sansamp into a firebass, theres a couple for good prices in trade, and not all from me. Then you use the firsbass crossover to split your signal into another amp.
 6. Pic, £225 now.
 7.
congratulations! let me know how you get on with it. andy ps, here's another one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ashdown-ABM-8x10-Bas...%3A1|240%3A1318
Don't do that. My brain just said 'They'd still be a bargain on average'.
 8. I just bought it. Fate wanted me to have it. Turns out the seller has seen my band play, and we've exchanged myspace messages, and he was coming to our next gig anyway, which he is bringing the cab too. And we'd already hired a van. Wooo.
 9. Sounds a lot like playing bass through a guitar distortion. Actually, haven't tried it with a valve amp and a year more experience of bass distortion. Will give it a go in a bit.
 10.
Worth mentioning that it has navy blue/purple carpet covering. I can try and check the model later tonight for yer.
Pretty sure its black. Maybe dusty, but it ain't blue. Pictures to come as Joe has photoed it and such. The cloth covering is detatchable and seems original. It was bought in Germany a pretty long time ago (not by me).
 11. Would like to know what sort of money I could get for this, its ply construction, can't recall the specific model as its at the practice space currently. Edit: Now priced up as its back home: £100
 12. £25 posted, is boxed.
 13. I did, and Tim Commerford put a left P neck on one of his jazzes, not sure if his others also have.
 14. £42 inc. post
 15. Still in my bass, as reluctant to dismantle it until I know they are going, will post a pic later. Comes all wired, £55 posted. Black encore strat copy, with rosewood board, white scratchplate. £40, would rather not post, but can do at cost. Not strung, but I can string it.

 19.
Different common names for Tilia species.
Its not lime as in the fruit but lime as in those trees in cities that cover your car in sticky crud. And its pronounced like the fish which is an unending source of frustration.
 20. Amybe your bass is too loud for it. Got actives?
 21. The punk bass is playable, the first 9 frets are fine, and who really needs more than that? Te 'point' is explained on his site:
Doesn't it strike you as odd, that you see million selling bands on MTV dressed like French "clochards", but playing the most expensive guitars out there? What's wrong with that picture? I felt a moral obligation to change that... So, I designed a bassguitar to match the looks of those MTV-bands: rugged, dirty and rough.
22. Grolsch type rubber things from the local brew shop > than these. They also stop the strap twisting around so eaisly, which has bee the source of most strap failures I've seen, where the end is pointing down and folded over.

Might bid a tenner just so they can't change it.
