1. You won't necessarily have to change it that often, when it gets chudded up enough to be a problem, a dressing is all it needs anyway, much less hasssle, repeatable depending on how thick your board is.
2. New policy of posting these here instead of buying them. 190255410304
3. Minimal number of windings round the peg helps too.
4. Sounds like exactly the sort of thing I'm after.
5. A few times I've thought of a way of putting together a nice guitar out of something a bit crap I've acquired, get all enthused about guitars, make it then never play it. It's inevitable black pointy metal guitars too, got a collection now, never play them, no-one else even wants to look at them. Got a full valve stack sat about too, completely pointless, not even like I'm minted to have such toys laying about, just opportunistic. Even when I'm writing a guitar part, usually use an acoustic laying about. Get a mando or something, can do chords and learn to think in 5ths.
6. Is there any way round that volume drop thing? Made my neck j-pup p mono and been noticing it.
7. Maybe, 120310071485 Might be ply, but got those bridges on a coupla my basses, and they are cool. Good starter.
8. Cut the slots deeper or grind down the bottom of the nut to lower it. If you go too far it will rattle, but you can put a thin bit of plasitc under as a shim.
9. Does the reserve show up before anyone bids? 330273376493
10. Lacquer the cat first, this will not only prevent shedding, but also give you a challenging practice run. Leave it in a cool place to harden, as the cat will be attracted to a warm place.
11. I went to my local brew shop, they do the rubber seals for 15 pence each. Boguht a dozen, ended up giving them to people and ran out really fast. Dammit.
12. Switching the cable round did the trick. Excellent.
13. Caricatures - doom metal, always looking at slower louder and lower. Don't ask about the band name, or if you must, ask the drummer, not because he knows, but it annoys him most of all. Myspace as in sig for those with them off. Got 1 gig in Trowbridge coming up, gonna see how things go now we have shed a guitarist. Gonna be under-rehearsed as drummer is on tour with Joe Garcia and Rose Kemp.
14. Depending on transport, the JCM600 will be being tested as the high end side of my biamp plan. However, if someone were to come to pBristol with a sum of cash to offer me for it, I'd have a hard time refusing, as I have my eye on other toys. It's 60w and I'm suspicious that the reverb might not work. Since the reverb isn't useful to me I haven't bothered trying to fix it, but will if necessary.
15. Bit like this one then?
16. I like my gas one, cheap from Lidl, trick is not to turn it up very far, cause it gets far too hot and burns out the tip.
17. Buy a fretless neck and sell the fretted one. I kinda want a nice fretted neck.
18.
Also doesn't Sheehan himself use Rotosound Swing Bass strings?
He does have some dude change them every gig though, not entirely practical for mortals.
19.
I might be able to get my hands on the wood. They're cutting down some maple trees where I work and I could see if they'd be kind enough to cut me some blanks. I could also provide my own hardware.
You'd have to season it for several years before using that. Course, get it anyway, stack it up in garage, will be doing your future self a favour. With luthiers its always the time not the materials that is the cost.
20. Its been out of the bass I bought it in, might try the quick connect cable, its the smaller one, not the one the batttery goes to that is being a pain, will dismantle tomorrow.
21. I haven't earthed the bridge, left the wire floatin free with tape on the bare end. Its very specifically when I touch that half of the pickup when no touching anything else, and strong when I touch the screw, possibly as the screw is touching the earthed shielding in the cavity?
22. If you get something unecessarily bit, it will last you longer, but is less practical as a practice amp. It's likely that eventually you will go head + cab, then a small luggable amp would be nice. I bought an Ashdown Electric Blue 15", which was fine playing with cheesy blues guitarist, but when I got to do what I actually wanted to do, it wasn't nearly enough, and it's not a carry about with you for living room jam size. Really it depends on opportunities and what you plan to do, as well as budget.
23. I don't think that is an appropriate portmanteau to be using in these parts. Did someone let you have a whole cider to yourself?
24. Yeah, compensatin does spring to mind.
25. Even stuff I've bought and sold outside of bsaschat turned out to be from basschatters, dammit.
