Chris Squires telecaster bass?
Mr. Foxen replied to beerdragon's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Sounds a bit expensive for a Squire P-bass. (Aware of the relative positions of R and E). -
What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???

Trussrods are overrated. And Wishbasses are awesome. -
As soon as anyone uses the word sterile I ignore everything else they've written. Sorry! Alex
Well every time someone uses a graph I ignore what they've written. -

If you've not had any experince with modding or anything, might be beneficial to score a cheapy to play with from gumtree or Trade-it. I;ve scored a couple for under £20. You can practice neck shims and hole drilling, and you'll have a set of spares, any upgrades you buy can be taken off and put on the new project once you are confident.

Remember to take the strings off, kinda important, and look out for the bit of card or plastic in the pocket (maybe), might want that.
how the crusher works with bass?
Not great in itself, loses a lot of the bass (bearing in mind I'm a lot about the lows, tuning down to A), and fizzy into a solid state amp, drives a valve amp nicely, guitarist useed it, and I used it with the crossover toput my highs through a guitar rig, but it loses out to my DHA pedal as you'd kind of expect.

I've not managed to lose any of the basses I've boght since joining. Distributed the cheapies around other peoples houses, but not sold at least. Got silly now. And I've bought ludicrous amounts of pedals, not too bad on the amps, but the cabs? Damn.

Think the bit about weakening the other magnet by equivalent isn't true, stuff you can magetise is magnetically 'soft', whereas most permanent magnets are much 'harder' and more stable. Bunches of pickups in a drawer is what I do, generally the pairs of humbuckers stick together, I'd figure that would strengthen the magnets if anything, as their fields are lined up and the tendency would be for the atoms to line up correspondingly.

Moving in with another gearhead bassist has meant I have accumulated lots of new stuff, old stuff must go, all prices need post on top: BBE Crusher, not used much, can see the boasts in the pic. Not good for bass it would seem. £25. Boss bass overdrive. Don't like the sound of it, eq and blend give lots of options, I prefer my other pedals. Used by plenty of people very happily, just not my sound. £30 4 way footswitch. Not really sure why I own this. Metal encolsure, 4 three pole switches, two stereo jack type plugs. £15 Dunlop wah pedal, being replaced by a bass one. After a checking, seems to have a crackle in the 'Shaft' end of the sweep, I've given it a wiggle and moved the pot so its slightly bassier and works fine there. £32 Peavey bass cab, taken it apart and realised its had a replacement speaker, 8 ohm, so £50. Aria Pro 2 30w practice amp. Modified so with a bit of jiggery pokery you can run an external speaker off it instead, suddenly its a whole lot louder. £20. OHM GA140 bass (?) head. 70s or early 80s solid state head, guessing bass as it has a compressor rather than 'distortion'. Goes down to 4ohm, guess its 140w from the name but not sure. Light and easy to carry. £65 Pioneer hi-fi stereo eq. £5 Boss ME50B multi effects. Obselete due to owning all the effects I use. Damn convenient though, not desperate to sell it. £100

Was really curious as to what that bass was. Looks smaller and lighter than a Rik. Also, seems to have tape markers on the back of the neck, just like my reverse neck bass (dots were on bottom).

I was all thinking it was a unique custom, but he appears to be playing the same bass as this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCdGO2PZC-0...feature=related Unless its the same bass.

I've modded all my basses (which were rubbish to start with) so ain't managed to sell any, and probably wouldn't be worth selling. Nearly sold my mockingbird to Shockwave cause I greedily saw a profit. Very gald I thought better of that, only bass I have that deals with my band. I'll be regretting not selling some stuff when my current temping finishes and I'm screwed.
Just get another Fender Jazz and have it strung BEAD... then the feel and string spacing is very nearly the same so you won't have as much trouble swapping between normal gigs and Dub gigs.
Then Tim Commerford it up with a lefty neck too. Not cause that's what I have at all.

Westone thunder still at a low price with 2 hours to go, no. 300249575653 -
I'm hoping it isn't too great to play, since its gonna be in my house, would hate to start gassin for something Rik-like. Looks toally right for the stuff he is playing now though.

Having taken this apart, I found the speaker has been replaced, its 8ohm, sounds fine, just not the well known black widow, so £50. Collected in Bristol. In addition, in a both for £100 special offer, I could include this OHM solid state head: Or £65 on its own. It has a biamp out and a slave out, so should be some tricks to do with it. Its no Firebass though.
