1. Might be clipping the input stage, tried turning down the pre gain (or bass voume) and upping the master?
2. Think you forgot to mention the last pedal pictured.
3.
What HAS he done to this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEMMY-MOTORHEAD-CUST...id=p3286.c0.m14
laid out a bit like the bass Linus of Hollywood (I think, google said) plays in this. Can you tell he's not a bassist? Take it away Marco!
4. Theres no attenuator or switch on the back, so I unscrewed it to have a look, three wires soleder to it, nd a crossover etc. What to I need to disconnect to stop it making high noises not appropropriate to what I do? Disconnecting a wire will stop it, but I'm worried about cooking the crossover or some unforeseen side effect.
5.
How the hell does he play those brilliant triplets, with just two fingers, at a blistering pace... and through a whole gig! does he have some super android fingers that Eddie gave to him? could he lift 500 pounds with his first two fingers on his right hand? Maybe we'll never know....
What bass is he using there?
6.
the boss odb-3 is a brilliant pedal
I dislike it. The blend knob has potential. Sansamp BDDI with blend at 11 o'clock and drive at 2 o'clock is todays favourite flavour of overdrive.
7. The LP is sold. The head is being dubious, looks likely that I'll buy it soon.
8. I didn't get as far as sending monies, but I never heard more aou the tuners after initial pm.
9.
get some heatshrink tubing of an adequate diameter and stick that over your knob, then heat it up and shrink it.
I had a problem a bit like that, I discovered around puberty, had to have surgery.
10. There is more flex at the saddle, seemed to make things feel a bit livelier. I'd image this would give more sustain as the windings aren't damping the movement. Another advantage is that if you string a 4 string BEAD you don't have to file bridge saddles.
11.
You forgot 'brighter LED, preferably blue or white (or colour-changing!) = better'
Blue LED = The future (treat with suspicion) Red LED = Trad and reliable.
12. Magic, also known as electrickery. Main important things: More knobs = better Louder colours = better tone Large pedal = Electroharmonix Small pedal = MXR As used by [insert famous guitarist] = expensive
13.
Nice one, I hadn't thought of using blend pedals - this way I could have the bass drive on all the time and use it in conjunciton with the clean signal so it wouldn't be as raw. Hmm, I understand how a blend pedal works - obviously blending a clean signal with an effected one but how does this work in relation to your pedal chain, as in, what would you connect to what? Thanks Again mate
The LS2 has two fx loops witha volume on each, so you just connect a pedal or series of pedals from the out to the in on that. It has various settings, I use the 'A+B' one, with the B loop empty, then balance the two with the A and B volume controls. The other way I do it is have seperate outputs on my bass, neck clean and effects on the bridge, then the two chains either go to seperate amps or into a pedal that mixes the two to a single output. It will involve a lot of knob twiddling and fiddling about, then one pedal will fail and everything is screwed and you go back to plugging straight to your amp and thinking it sounds fine like that.
14. Blending an effected signal with clean works, an LS2 has been my favourite purchase of late. Using guitar pedals in the loop is fine if you have the clean to keep the bass in.
15. Joe G and I were discussing that chap and those yesterday evening. Having checked bank, might not be getting one super soon though.
16. I think what those guys have in common is a multi amp setup. Tim C in particular is pretty notorious for uising 3 SVTs, 1 clean, one dirty and one filthy. All I know aboutJC's rig is from the tribute band guy on youtube, who mentions using that ying-yang pedaql instead of multi amps. Not sure about Flea but have seen 3 GK rigs behind him.
17. Your best bet would be to perv up This place.
18. Looks like one for Shockwave.
19. If you don't like the skull knobs I'll toptally trade them for something. Just bought a cheap explorer gu*tar in trade it so I can look like Skwizgar.
20. Check out www.wishbass.com, that guy makes about the simplest fully functioning basses out there. And he is dead helpful and replies quickly to emails. No frets, only bought parts are tuners, pickup and minimal electrickery.
21. Bought a Blue Bawls cheap, thinking it would be an easy mod to shift the bas sweep. Its easy to lift the ratchet and move the pot, but capacitor fun, anyone know how to figure which is sweep? Theres lots going on as there is overdrive on the same board. Also, I can't spot the inductor unless it is the huge thing seperate from the board.
22. I know the LS2 has its own power out also, so that can power some others, as it doesn't use much. Check all the power consumption rating on pedals and daisy chain the low drain ones. I recall the octaver eats batteries, so that would be one to not put on the daisy chain. Tuner should be happy.
23. It will all have changed again by now. He's got me doing the same thing now. Grr.
24. Well, Joe is encouraging me to buy stuff, although I was stereo wiring my basses long before I knew him. He will also share my difficulties paying bills when I spend all my cash on toys. Course if I run out of money I won't secretly sell my gear on ebay without telling anyone in the hope that people will believe I sold it for the asking price.
