1. Thought I'd list em here in case. Marshall JCM 600 head, pics to come, with footswitch, around £275. In Weston Supermare, but can be got to Bristol or nearby places without a problem. Also:
Gibson Les Paul Deluxe for sale. Black with cream binding on body and along neck. 50s neck, 2 mini humbuckers. 3 way selector, 2 volumes, 2 tone dials. Guitar has never been gigged but has some light playing wear, great black gloss finish and great versatile pickups. Would be interested in taking a part exchange + some cash so if this interests you throw some offers my way.
He's after something single coil in trade, gotta cut through our dense sound a little.
2. If not, will let mine go for same.
3.
you bought a v-type head for £10? what one? andy
I'm suspecting that was the delivery cost. Hoping that is.
4. Sometimes its a new neck job, but I've also heard horrible wrenching can sometimes cure it.
5. As for small hands: Debra Killings
6. Give him the neck too, cause thats useful to me, if thats cool. Joe, pick up that neck for me if BMK is cool with it? Cheers dude.
7. I play metal. The riff the guitarist plays inspire me to follow the root notes exactly, otherwise he threatens to punch me in the face and turn his octaver on.
8. Main things are roundwound, which you have on it, that is wire wrapped around more wire, so bumpy. The other sort is flat or tapewound, which are smooth and a bit special, probably not something to tinker with at this point. As far as roundwounds go there are nickel and stainless steel. Steel is generally agrressive and bitey, both in sound and on your fingers. Your best bet would be some standard nickel round wound. Theres lots of other fun things to try like nylon wounds and such, but nickel rounds are the middle simple ground, turn down your tone a bit when they are brand new as they are super zingy, but that soon goes. Guage is the nest fun, there are a few thicknesses of strings, depends how you play, .045-.105 is standard, can go lighter or heavier, heavier means harder to push down and more tension, but thicker sound to an extend. Again, probably stick in the middle ground. Keep your old stings, you might miss them.
9. A cunning plan I had was once you have the neck a bit smooth is wrapt the board in course sandpaper facing outwards, and rub a soft piece of pine or something on it to make a radiussed sanding block for later finishing.
10. I've got a dimarzio type hex key polepiece job spare, ceramic, have to take a look at condition, out of an 80s jap bass. Interested?
11. I kept being tempted by one fo those, but was suspicious of the build quality. Dunno why, I play loads of terribly made basses. If it hits bristol, might have to give it a try out (I know where you live bassmankev).
12.
Generally, the denser the wood the greater the sustain and the heavier the guitar. Like my acrylic bass. Very dense material, heavy as a concrete block and you can pluck a note, go make a cup of tea, come back and it'll still be audible - slight exaggeration but you get the point. More subjective is the "warmth" or "brightness" of the sound. Softer wood = warmer tone, harder wood = brighter tone. Or something. Like I said - subjective. Actually, it's all pretty subjective, open to debate and I reserve the right to be right. Or wrong. I'll get my coat.
Cheers for that. Theres also real wood vs. ply. Everyone is gonna say ply is inferior, but whoever tried putting nice hardware on a ply body? I tried a ply Aria witha nice bridge and a Kent armstrong pickup, sounded fine. Course, I pretty much draw the line before ply when I'm frankensteining something up.
13. You got friend request. Tunes were a welcome break from the horrible metal that most of our friend requests are.
14. Amount of time I spent thinking about this... Then realised the Attitude is a bit close, and I don't play nearly like Sheehan. P pup and neck humbucker, add through strung and maybe 35" scale to cope with the tuning down to A and still have some string tension. Notch in the headstock for the on the cab feedback moments. Wooody finish, maybe walnut and purpleheart. Total low end madness and not much else. This is pretty close:
15. If I hadn't just seen this in the porn section, I'd pass comment on the finish.

Octaver

Ha, I found that vid a while back when I was trying to score an octaver. Not very pleased with the Boss offerings, lent my oc2 to the lead guitarist. Tuned my bass down to A with custom strings instead.
17. Its all about the Funk Finger.
18. I had no idea that GW and that wishbass were in this country. Both are really familar to look at due to UBP.
19. I've got a couple of Johnson basses and considered that mod. There is nothing to work with past the last tuner, so a reshape will require moving the tuner to other side, on the plus side you can take the tuner apart and put it back together left handed. If you do destroy it, I've got a spare rosewood board Johnson neck (I like their chunkyness, just need fret dressin). I found the notch in the end an ideal locator when I put my headstock on my cab to give horrible low end feedback.
20. Just thought I'd note, the green one is relisted at lower price with no proper title: no. 320249959442
21. One of those brushes for cleaning the inside of gun barrels might be ideal for jack socket cleanin. Dunno where you'd score one about though.
22. Much better off gettin an OBBM cable, I got 2, very pleased. Course current band situation means I back down to a single precision pup.
23. Top row on the screen, button called 'Search'. Answers a surprising amount of questions. In short, people have been pleased with their SX purchases from Rondo.
24. Pretty sure awesome tone isn't important, so an amplug would be ok, the is a stethescope type job that sticks to the back of your bass, that would be cool, or score a stethescope thype with and stick it to your bass, that would also be cool.
25. I picked up a Johnson P on ebay for around £70, chunky necks on them tohugh. £30 for a less flimsy bridge or a nicer pickup. The one in it was bit wooly but plenty of output. Trade it and gumtree is the place to be.
