1. Probably awnt to go heavier than a .125 low b though, will be bit slack on a 34" scale bass. My reverse headstock jazz is on pause as I need a better string retainer.
2. Ha, I was expecting one of those dot maps that showed the concentrations of instruments in the world., like a follow up to the how many basses do we own thread.
3. No-one want my Wishbass then? Everyone I've met off basschat independently of anywhere else has said 'your the Wishbass guy'. Gonna be rocking it in the Culpa if I get a chance.
4. Bigger strings will sort you, and bit of playing time so they lose the new string zing. Bridge should be fine, thicker strings aren't that much thicker. Only thing is you need to file out the nut a little wider so they fit, then draw in the slot with a soft pencil. Make sure you make the slot wider not deeper. As for buzz, thats an allen key job, can do it on your own much cheaper than a tech, pm me and I can talk you through on msn or something if you like. Oh, mickel strings probably what you want, if you don't play regular, steels will eat your fingers. Nickels are warmer generally too.
5. I just won a GA140 head on ebay, google gave me your profile, haha. Only one who bid. Whats it like then? Solid state of joy?
6. Use something hard, rubbery glue stuff will affect sound transfer. Ideally you dowel and redrill. When a sucky kids guitar had that happen I jammed them in with card, made a lot of difference to the tone and sustain (better than when loose).
7. There'd have to be cunningness to make them both not hum. Pretty sure the J hummed on my sucky p/j. The P did also, but less.
8. He tells me its like this except 5 strings. Bolt on. PM me for his email.
9. Aargh, you beat me to that cause I was drinking instead. Karma for that comment on choke. I have a suck plywood bass marked Ventura.
10. Apparently no, just asked, he's been in foothold, map the stars and sightless riot.
11. Still hazy on details, black, jazz type pickups, 5 strings, but he's lazily thinking of selling it to Cash converters, so if theres someone in Bristol who'll come get it, everyone will get a better deal. PM interest and I'll hassle him for more info. Or he might turn up and list it himself.
12. If I hadn't just dropped my jazz project at Tom Waghorns for assembling I'd have so scored that for the purpose. Now I'm putting up with a red hung in a window till it faded to pink finish.
13. Not so sure they are actually actively looking as much as I already fix their guitars and get on with the guitarist, and play bass, so offered a tryout.
14. But they are so outside my previous experience, and I seem to be expected to learn it all by ear. The band is Mea Culpa Previously I've played chessy blues and 3 chord rock, generally covers where I can hit the tabs or chord chart up if I get stuck. Any tips?
15. I use a D-tuner to go from D to C. They are awesome. Low B would probably be fine, but use a heavy string, cause they are wicked floppy as it is. Make sure you lube your nut also, otherwise it saws through.
16.
I can't recommend the Boss ME-50 enough and I have seen a few on here for £100 - can't seem to find many of them now though, having done a search... here's one though: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=boss+me Multi-effects are great because they'll save you money, take up less space and open your mind like a whole new instrument!
I'll let my ME50B go for £100 + postage. Just about done replacing all the stuff I use with singles.
17. I've got a cable with an arrove on saying 'signal path'. What's that mean?

GLX pedals

Theyycan be found here: Dangleberry music I'm after knowing if the Octaver is OK on bass.
19. I expect they all make bits, some necks and some bodies, and some put the neck and bodies together. At the end of the day they are lumps of wood, the ones I have make the required noises and for the most part fit together with other bits.
20.
Hmmm ........... there a are quite a few companies who claim that (not to mention four different factories who claim to make Epiphone's Les Pauls) so with the greatest of respect I would advise taking that claim with a pinch of salt.
I was told that by a guy who imports them to America and uses them as a basis for customs (works out cheaper than painted body blanks or something) that was the case, when he was reccomending a buy from someone other than himself.
21. Just came across this dude, anyone else play like that?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHTSVU_e37U
22. I've used one as the basis for lots of modding. I decided I like the really thick neck, so I kept it, took a bit of a tinker and by this point I've replace pretty much everything except the wood and some screws. I just bought a Johnson jazz and am modding that too, using the neck I was planning to put on the first one. The nuts are terrible, looks like they put a soft plastc one on the put the strings on hot, also they are glued in and a pain to change.
23.
With all these super duper prizes being offered, would it be an idea to throw it open to all Basschat members? This way the pot would be bigger. You could allow people to Paypal an amount for tickets up to the day before the bash, then some poor soul gets the task of allocating tickets to those "non-present" members. Perhaps if anyone who doesn't make it to the bash agrees to pay shipping for any prize they win. Should be fairly easy to organise, easy to show that all is "above board", and would I'm sure attract a lot more raffle entrants.
+1 I'll poke through my miscellaneous crad just post moving, will have something bass related going.
24.
PMed for tool - 10.000 days
Oh, dammit.
