1. Oh, and I was just considering making the guy another offer. The work needed put it overbudget for me.
2. An American luthier I know has got a new line called the Hot Rod Vintage, which are based on his own favourite P bass. He's got custom Kent Armstrong pickups that are quad coil, they look like a humbucker, but you can switch to offset coils for the whole P bass thing. Pics here: http://www.gwbasses.com/projects/DC-2B_HRV...2_crotchwalnut/
3. Bought the Firebass stack that was advertised hear, did a deal, so ended up with the cabs that I don't really need, as I'm happy enough with the cabs I have. 2x10 with a tweeter, and a 1x15 ported. I'll happily split them, I can probably get them couriered somewhere, but clearly being bass cabs and made by Peavey, thats not ideal. I'll sort pics eventually. Hit me up with offers. Ok, imminent moving means if someone give me £200 for these, they are gone. Heres a pic:
4. Aargh, my inner santa already scored me something else.
5. Black with tort, and rosewood blocked neck was my plan, shame I don't get on with skinny jazz necks.
6. When you take the cold amp inside, a bunch of condensation will form on it, thats water. Water + electrics plugged in = unhappyness. Gotta let it warm up and dry out. Good demo was my first bass that was zebra striped with electrical tape, been sat in an outbuilding at home. Go home for Xmas, and feel the urge, so I got get it for a post dinner thump. Due to hot food and family of breathig and such, water is literally running down it, and all the tape is screwed, and sticks to me and it was pretty nasty. Course electrickery is worse.
7.
Surely you could blend it back together (or split it in the first place) with a £1 splitter? I mean, you could do the whole thing with just 2 splitters but the point of the box is so you have a pedal to switch your effects and clean off and on..? I've not tried this myself, but the idea is intriguing - if that idea would work, I might be interested in the pedal
You can use a £1 splitter to get two outputs to seperate amps if you bimap, and just have to turn volume up a little, but if you use another to put them back into 1 amp it goes funny, I guess cuase they are both connectedand they bleed into eachother, I put it though both halves of a stereo eq like that and it kind of worked, but using a blend pdeal works much better and much less constant level fiddling.
8. I don't buy expensive basses, but I would be ready to have it thoroughly check out when it arrives if I did.
9. Gonna get an estimate on trem cavity routing first, then I'll wince and change my mind. Hopefully the cavity route from a twang trem will be same size.
10.
updates: i connected the shield wires of each pick up with the whie/grey wire and with the bridge wire. hot and common of each pick up stay in the green box. now it happens something very very strange... if i plug my bass in the PC everything works.. if i plug my bass in my little 25w guitar amp and in my headphone amp.....battery led and Z switch don't work, and the sound is very distorced. this evening i will try with my bass head... but...everything is so weird......
What are you plugging intot he pc with? Is it one of those stereo jacks, or a 1/4 input? Thatmight be something to do with that difference.
11. Item no. 150197376630 Anyone have any clues? Considering ponying up, and having a warlock body I have laying about routed for the ultimate in bad taste. I really don't see it being practical in any way. Apparently it comes with no routing guidelines, but fits like a floyd Rose. I asked: 'Hi we don't have any instructions Because Installing like a floyd rose system also Include springs and claw ,hinge post etc. Thank you for asking'
12. Its going to be 200-300 I'm prett sue, dislocated my shoulder in the week, so a loft mission is off right now.
13.
ahh well pics / model etc would be useful is it a sheffield BW? what wattage is it?
Its the black and red Peavey black widow magnet, basket is marked 4 ohm, its in the loft, no idea how to tell the watts.
14. I'm open to offers and suggestions as to fair price.
15. Buy my 4 ohm black widow from me. Its a new basket I bought to go with a magnet from a bust one I was given.
16. If its the one in Bristol thats been posted here, it has a big nick in the back of the neck right where its annoying, and I don't think the scratchplate is an original, its 1 ply and has holes in the don't correspond to the ones in the bass if it wasn't for those I'd have offered the guy £250 for it having played it.This was an E one.
17. Good deal for that money? Hate buying ebay basses without trying. Will someone be interested if I go and get it and not like it?
18. Put one of those anti static sheets for tumble driers in the control cavity (seriously, try it).
19.
The wah... does it operate by a switch (on/off, like a dunlop) or does it come on as you press down? (If you see what I mean)
I'm really hoping he recieved the payment I sent him for the pedal.
20.
I don't know if that is the case. They have knurled saddles, i.e. each saddle has the threads that a screw typically has instead of a single groove for the string, allows for a variety of string spacings. Mark
If its a screw thread, its still a single groove, just a very long one [/pedant].
21. 8 including sucky ones, but not including piles of parts. 271
22. I totally have no idea where they go [looks around room full of cack secondhand basses]. I have a suspicion that Steve in Electric Ladyland may have some idea.
23.
Not the cheapest, but certainly the cheapest pearl blocks/rosewood board Jazz I've ever seen - particularly if you sniped it at its start price: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RED-ELECTRIC-BASS-FR...emZ310005286305 Jon.
Anyone tried one of these? Just made an offer on one and got a counter offer. Tempted as I was after a jazz body and the blocked neck looks cool, don't want to find its made of pine or something.
