1. Problem isn't that the head is too powerful. Problem comes when you can't hear the 15 farting out because the 2x10 is louder and still comfortable, so you don't turn down and the 15 dies. Had it happen with that combo of speakers before. Always better to have matching cabs than mixed ones, so nothing is out of balance. Two different cabs have different impedance curves so at some frequencies, power won't be distributed evenly, and that frequency can be one where the speaker copes badly with the power.
2. I have a guitar arriving tomorrow, but need to figure if chromey will look funny.
3.
Forgot... Marshall 2001: 8 x KT88 conservatively rated at 375W RMS by Marshall. Bit of a bu**er to lift but emmm very present when it's finished sucking all the power from your street and moved into KILL mode....
Umph has one of these for sale.
4.
You can see the attraction for copycat makers, make your own Korean bass and sell it for what its worth £99, or copy a respected brand with a poor immitation and get £500. But who pays £500 for a copy. If you are going to kid yourself and stand on stage and kid everyone else, £500 buys a Fender. Ricks are expensive, pick one up and you will soon see why.
I've picked up quite a lot at this point. There is not much about them to justify the price tag. £500 gets a pretty respectable Korean made instrument.

6. Making plans with Subthumper, possibly be able to make a 200w Hiwatt style head with genuine Partridge transformers for about £1200. Pretty vague figure, but do have an already built one to try out in Bristol.
7. Ever used an Aphex xciter? That does an impression of lows using harmonic distortion.
8.
But British?
Wouldn't trust their word on anything. Their own website is self contradictory. Plus its well weaselly about saying 'British' as much as possible without actually directly saying modern line are made in England.
9.
So the spec is just age related not strictly anything to do with "jaco"?
Still pretty mucha guess, but if it was a 60s bass JAco used, a reissue would have to have 60s reissue pickups to be as per jaco.
10. Mexico vs. USA, who has the longer history of guitar making?
11. Hiwatt are bit dodge now, not really related to the originals, and related to Musicground.
12. Probably is distortion, just not recognising it as such.
13.
going to put a bid in Mr F?
Its buy it now, in London, and I'm in Bristol. People ignoring 'collect only' is a fair explanation for being relisted. Edit: And has been listed once before. You can see that on ebay.

15.
Maybe I'm missing the point but what else is special about a "jaco" bass apart from the "finish"? I didnt think there was anything unique or non standard/modified about his bass; other than the fact that it was fretted bass originally? Or do guys actually pay huge money for a standard jazz that looks like its been dragged behind a car!
Think it had reissue pickups appropriate to the age of the original. Lots of differences to be had between a current standard model.
16. Got this one to behave today.
17. People get quite angry when you won't tell them what brand your bass is.
18. Opened up my Little Bastard out of curiousity
19. I have accumulated a fair pile of amp badges from scrapping amps and just having them fall off and suchlike. I'm having a custom amp made at some point, I have a blank sleeve for it, and I might put them all on it.
20. The shape and the sound. Sound varies even within models. Precision is the go to simple and right (P bass is same thing shortened), Jazz is the go to for a bit more knob twiddling options. ypically a P neck is chunkier than a J neck, but you can get necks of one on the body of another.

22. Don't add lows with eq, cut them. The speaker in a combo is pretty much never going to be suited to lows. Add some low mids maybe.
23. Courier van pulled up outside my house, I saw through my bay window, dude slips and drops the amp out the back of the van, looks around guiltily straight at me looking at him thorugh the window. By the time I got to the door he'd already filled out the 'item delivered as damaged' box on his handset.
24. Generally I'd report stuff like that, but somehow don't feel the urge to do RIC's job for them.
25. Again, punch in the highs doesn't come from speaker diameter. No experience with those cabs. Are they still with their original speakers? Don't really rate any Marshall cab's I've used, I think including the 2x15 and 8x10 versions.
