1. Speaker size tells you nothing about the properties of a cab. So need to give some information before any valid recommendation can be made. Note that won't stop you getting recommendations.
2. Some guy took ages to pay for something on ebay, shipping price went up by £3 in meantime. Ballache. Gonna be sending much less packages with RM now as my courier contract is cheaper.
3. A mate spoke to them and got the impression they are not so keen on the full custom thing now. Might be because that guy is really annoying though.
4. I like how people draw conclusion from stuff other than making instruments that differ from those of people who make instruments.
5. The volume control is the volume, only need one. Slave is so you can run another amp from the came controls. Biamp means splitting frequency bands, probably should have an associated frequency and high/low. The slider controls are graphic eq for tone control. 8ohm is fine.
6.
Nah it's all different chasis and would be very expensive to get one specifically made, another option would be buy an older 2 band version and have it reworked.
Figure the specifics stopping a custom job being done. If its Jeff doesn't want to, or they don't have the electronics capability in house, can't help. But if its making a one off chassis and sourcing some discontinued parts, then that can be remedied.
7. A dead valve and a meter and some skill/knowledge will tell you everything you need to know. I've had one socket show heater voltage but not light the heaters once, hence the dead valve, needs to be one with intact heater.
8.
What we're the issues you had with with being glad to get rid of it? I'm just considering if its worth the money to go get it serviced.
No issues, I'd serviced it. Just managing to get £50 for it seemed good, don't think would sell easily.
9. How loud mostly depends on the cabinet, a bunch on your eq also. I had one of these, would probably keep up using the cabs I have now, but probably wouldn't of on the cabs I had then. I recall it sounded OK, and I was fairly glad to get £50 for it when I sold it. The 50w head will ahve a volume control, so that's a non issue, but an acoustic drum kit is always the thing to set the band volume to.
10. I'd start with the strings. Heavier ones, and a setup so they play easy.
11. The SP cabs only have the max output of a half the speakers you are paying for, so pretty much disregard them. Tried a latest generation Bass terror 500 and they seem to have sorted the headroom thing.
12.
In the same way adjusting the action will have way more effect than choice of wood. (I thought I was being facetious with my original comment.)
Again, choice of wood will affect how well a guitar holds a setup, stability is a big thing.
13. My singer has about 30 years of theatre behind him, suit my purpose, since I can be on the stage and not need to hide when he is there, I can be hidden in plain sight, everyone will look at him. Tried a solo gig without him, ended up stood in the corner facing the wall playing. Although at a Caricatures gig where new lady plan was present I totally showed of loads. thing is singer in that band was very much more practiced and really going for it after being tied to a mic stand due to playing bass in his other band, and was on the bar holding the ceiling.
14. Not much on a tube that can smoke unless it was burning dirt, and if its that hot, its dead.
15. The AD200 benches at 160w, so the power difference is probably not that great, assuming Ashdown are bit more straight up about how numbers in their models stack up to power ratings (not a massive leap of faith). Is the HLF the really low tuned cab? If so, probably not to suited to valve amps, much better choices out there.
16.
I have never understood the desire to have a pile of mismatched cabs on stage. It might be fun but it might sound sh*te. A venue with a stage big enough for all those cabs will probably need pa support anyway.
Sounds sh*te in the sense it totally covers how someone's guitar playing sounds with a wall of noise, which is generally the aim. Otherwise Marshall amps wouldn't be so popular.
17. There's a thread recently on TB about it, standard caution with regards to TB style opinions (having no clue never stops them having one), but fair bit more likely to have some experienced people with such cabs, due to lots of them being in the States.
18. Cap replacements usually come at the same time as pot replacements, its the pot that generally makes a difference.
19.
I wonder if using something harder than brass for the frets would have more of an influence on the sound?

*Stainless steel is now my default choice of material for full refrets. In addition to its hardness and wear resistance I believe this offers improved tone. Users report increased definition in chords and improved sustain, particularly of the high end harmonics.
http://www.edgeguita...o.uk/rout_serv/ A good fret dress is a bigger direct influence in sound, but harder frets will retain a good dress for longer
20.
He can give you good advice on which 15" 8ohm speaker is suitable for a horn-loaded cabinet of that size.
Its not a horn loaded cab mind, its a flared port. whole different set of requirements to a horn cab, like the Acoustic.
21. If you are using that many rigs at once with overlapping frequency bands, it suddenly doesn't matter nearly as much what speakers you put in the cab. There won't be the definition to notice any issues and such. A modern replaceable driver is best bet. The JBL is nice, but sort of precious and their niceness is best used in a situation where it can be appreciated.
22.
Short auction: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ac2d51b0b
Got the guys email address, so pm if interested.
23. Speakers not being the same size isn't the issue. Its all over the specs of the cabs being different. There is a lot more scope for things going wrong with two cabs, if one is a bunch louder than the other, it can mask the sound of the other farting out, and being damaged. Plus a cabs impedance is only a nominal figure, at certain frequencies most power could be going to one cab because it has a lower impedance than the other. It isn't about watts, because watts aren't a useful specification.
24.
Keep an eye out guys I've had most of mine stolen from the Stockport area last night. http://www.tayste.co...ear-got-stolen/ If someone can post it on the Matamp forum that would be great
Just posted the link. Forum is pretty dead and spammed up though. Will also stick on my Ampstack Facebook page.
25. This is because of the rickenwaffen policy, you can ask that much because of the exclusivity they have generated.
