1.
With the "Master Axe Sharpener"'s penchant for cutting the "zero fret nut" to within a gnats cock of the fingerboard, I wonder what he'll do if he ever gets a guitar with a locking nut on it?
There was one and he did something terrible to it. Can't remember what but I think it was filing in grooves so it wouldn't lock any more, and then declaring no other tech would put the time in to do such a thing.
2. Had the issue with Shockwave's Jazz, turns out the earth and live were swapped, they'd changed the way it was made at one point and there was an addendum sheet I hadn't seen.
3.
First time I've got to see Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in all its glory. Best bit of the entire vid
8.15 if you don't want to sit through crap tunes and rambling.
4. Servisol is the spray for pots, cotton bud and some methylated spirits for the jack, full on cracking can be bad connection or shorting against something, which is more of a soldering job.
5. I got given my first bass because I looked like a bass player.
6. He's not really taking the hint to lose the big picture with 'Gibson' written on it.
7. When you say 'looks straight', have you put a straight edge against it, or held the string down at both ends to actually compare it to straight, there should be a barely perceptible gap in the middle.
8. I use solid copper wire from mains cable offcuts I scavenge for the earth between pots in guitars, solid wire means if the pot comes loose it can't rotate. Screened wire from Maplins for the signal path, massive pile of scavenged wire, bundles from washing machines being scrapped for spares, that stuff is good because its silicone sleeved for head resistance in some places, which means no burnt ends.
9. Kinda both, ended up making one good one out of the two, other one is pending a refret and new bridge.
10. If it turns out to be a scam, give them the run around as much as you can, if everyone does that, it will become not worth the time for them.

12. The guitars changed scale apparently, so maybe the bass did too.
13. Lots more power needed to make lows is basically it. The bulk of the wave is the bass, the mid and treble are just along for the ride and put kinks in it.
14. Being a massive valve head, caught my eye, its a modern one so not what I'm after, but £995 seemed cheap for a 200w UK made valve head with a pedigree.
15. Fussy local tech uses baby oil
16. What pickups does it have? I thought they came with 1/4lbers/Steve's one did, but those look like normal sized poles,
17. I've got tons of tested good old ones, and there are some up in for sale. Hard finding new ones as good as the good old ones.
18. Ha, pretty much ever finished it, put a non smashed scratchplate on, and it sat around strung with old strings because didn't much like the shape. Given it to another bcer who wanted a go, in exchange for him finishing filing the nut.
19.
They were Craig's out of Who's Next then, nice going Mr. F. Think they were on a several days mini tour Ash.
That's him. Actually they are in kind of a state, both bridges fudged, one has had a fairly bad refret, so bunch of work and parts to go into them.
20. Familiar looking: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/101055-cmi-rickenfaker-restoration And if you want a chromey thing: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/114335-stainless-steel-rick-scratchplates
21.
Surprised the Rickenwaffe haven't spotted these however very wisely no reference to the name or headstock pics. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649
I just scored these, they are both having bridge troubles, luckily, I have those repro bridges. I'm probably not keeping them both.
22.
I've done the same re: Blocking buyers and have a list of over thirty blocked bidders who were either non-payers or very late payers etc.
Share them. PM if funny about it. All about stopping them before having to deal with them.
23. You have the option of blocking people with x number of unpaid item cases against the too. Mine is set: Block buyers who:

Have received 2 unpaid item(s) recorded on their account within 1 month(s)
24.
the fretline markers are a different radius to the fingerboard
That makes no sense at all. That would make them sticking out of the board or sunk into it at the ends or the middle. But if you've offered a refund if returned, in ebay message record, and he goes and has it fiddled with, then he loses, just need to be clear and polite in the comms, and highlight and submit them in a case if one gets opened.
25. With Ebay's brutal oppression of sellers, its bidders that are the potential problem causers now, that thread is here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/181272-blocking-problem-ebayers/page__p__1734439__hl__blocking%20problem__fromsearch__1#entry1734439
