1.
I've used the Pro 3 a fair few times and to be brutally honest, it sounds quite good but needs the gain maxing (ignore the usual clip light) and a very 'punchy' sealed cab to shine.
This bit says poorly controlled low end from the amp, and a low tuned cab like the big One is about the worst thing you can pair that with. Dunno if it works the same with the Big One, but maybe plugging a section of the port to lower the tuning will control the low ouput a bit better and make it act like a sealed cab, free to try.
 2. I sort of assume transmission in the air is the thing exciting panel resonances, and the unevenness from lining meant that the energy reaching the panel was less coherent, and thus less able to excite resonance. Also I was picturing knobbly foam, since that is what I've lined cabs with.
 3. Take it to the Musicman forum. Then you won't want to own a Musicman at all, and can go buy a nice bass.
 4.
Not sure the SVT3 is the problem Mr F to be honest. I just re valved it and had the bias set and the amp sounds sweet. I've used that set up at rehearsal albeit in a smaller room and it sounds good. On that stage and in that venue it didn't come together.
That's the sort of place where you need effective EQ, especially with a cab with lots of bandwidth, partly the problems with choice of hifi cab, because they brutally show the limitations of other stuff, like the room, but the control is ultimately down to the amp. Also, isn't the SVT3pro solid state? Don't usually have bias set in them (although they do need it, you don't change out the power valves and replacing transistors tend to be like for like).

 6. Finding a bolt that screws into it will save the thread, and force can be applied to that. Might be glued/epoxied in.

 8.
I played my first gig with my newly aquired BigOne last night Not good I'm afraid to say. We were on a 12" high wooden stage and I got nothing but boom and no note clarity at all. First set was with a Gramma Pad and I tried the second set without it with no discernable difference at all. I was pretty disappointed if I'm honest. I was running the cab with an SVT3pro, Bass rolled of to 10oclock, i tried all sorts with the mids, bumped 'em with the graphic as well as the mid selector. I had the same venue last month with a Techsoundsystems 410 and the BigOne did naught to rectify the problem. I have another gig this Friday so hopefully I'll get better results there.

Just don't use an SVT3
9.
Their lack of bass output is why one had to use two of them back in the day, or today for that matter. Why guitar'd players think they need two when an AC30 with two v30s can kill small animals at 50 meters one can one only wonder.
They wish they were bassists, but aren't smart enough how to figure making bottom end.
 10. I use speakers similar to V30s for bass, but not for the bassy part, I have a rig set up bassy and a rig set up guitary. They'll sound pretty guitar, you'll do ok playing bass with acoustic or clean guitar through them, if you aren't trying to get loads of low end space, but that's about it, and a V30 loaded 4x12 is a big heavy lug when a Barefaced Compact and a bit more power will do loads more for you.
 11. Think that is a cheaper wilko that the ones with nice hardware, black overspray on contours says plywood body. I think a tug on the neck with loosened bolts will sort it, there is a suspicious bit in the top of the pocket.
 12.
Ah I see so I would have to get a special lead made up of I wanted to link another cab in the loop yeah ?
You will need to mix up series and parallel connections to not go below minimum impedance. That can mean special cables or connecting boxes. But all that achieves is having lots of cabs connected, might end up with less volume than using less cabs, you need to decided what you want to achieve, then look into how to get there. If all you want is a big pile of cabs, just pile up cabs, and only plug in some of them.
 13. It isn't the daisy chain part that makes the difference, its connecting in series or parallel, however that is done, generally you'll need to do funny things for series connection, like make new leads.
 14. You'll have to feed the Legend CA154 about twice the power to get the same volume as the Delta 15A, and it takes less power to break the Legend. Either needs the box matched to it to work. PA drivers and bass drivers aren't any more different to each other than a driver and another driver, there isn't a defining characteristic, you need to pick one to suit the purpose. Also, aiming for a 4ohm driver will tend towards being a bad idea.
 15. Check measurements of upgrade MM pickups, they might be bigger.
 16. Random beardy metaller threw me the goat while I was shopping in Aldi today. Metal.
 17. I'm pretty involved with the metal scene. 18. Idea of this thread was to figure what is gonna be selling underpriced, so I can sit on them for a while: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/134417-what-are-really-unfashionable-at-the-moment/
 19. Peavey is easy to reccomend to any young person starting out, as good value for money, but a bit heavy. biggest downside to people like that is they tend to have a ton of tone options that make a wrong one a bit easy. Bypass it all and put a Sansamp/BDI21 into it if you want easy good tone.
 20.
That's exactly right, which is why the advice to put the brace straight across the middle (given by someone who should know better in another thread) wasn't very clever. You don't damp bass string by putting a finger above the 12 th fret after all.
But I would go for the middle if I was trying to reduce its possible displacement from a force applied along its length. Depends on thinking in resonance or flexibility. Because knocking stuff up an octave might put it out of a bass loss because of bending place, and into a middier place that lining will deal with.
 21.
I have a suspicion that a thin-wall but heavily braced panel can exhibit high rigidity at lower frequencies, thus giving good lows but the sections between the braces can have a degree of damped flexibility at higher frequencies which can absorb unwanted midrange, especially if those braces are positioned to give each part of each panel a different resonant frequency whose harmonics are an non-coincident as possible with each other panel section. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to scientifically test this but it makes sense from a mechanical engineering perspective and it certainly sounds good in practice!
So the idea point for a brace is the same sort of deal as the idea place for a piano hammer to strike the string, where it doesn't hit any harmonic?
 22. Ashdown make a full range from cheapies to fancys, so you can pretty much get what you pay for, plus great support at every level.
