Someone ask what happened to first sale.

[/quote] Well, Matamp were making high end amps for bass in the 60s, Hiwatt in the 70s, Burman in the 70s (just checked, been emailed about a 1965 amp specced for bass, transformers are huge), those are all top bollock, and I'm sure some small players were making high end stuff. I had a bass specific Carlsbro made with C-core transformers that are ridiculously high specced components from the 60s, Vampower were making amps in the late 60s and have bass specific models, those are high spec, c-core transformers also. That's just stuff I've owned so I can verify they are high end build quality. The Alembic preamps paired with the super fancy power amps might count, although not particularly excited by the build quality in Alembic pre I've seen inside. Tons of little boutique makers existed, that would have been putting military spec and general hi-fi/radio frequency grade skills into making music amps (like Matamp), and they'll almost certainly have turned sometime out fairly immediately after the electric bass became available as the amp offerings from Fender weren't well suited, and the technology to do it better wasn't anything arcane at the time. Ampeg always were made cheaply.

Its only screwing people if a bad feedback actually puts off legitimate people from dealing with receiver of said feedback. As it stands, you have to do something horribly wrong to get a feedback that is anything but positive, so the strength of a bad feedback is high. If it were open, then its a bunch of information from which to make a decision on your own personal dealings, rather than having moderators dictate what information is available. It isn't for anyone else to dictate who I choose to deal with at any level, especially not with personal non-business dealings that are what I do via BC. The only relevant thing is the ability to block PMs, that's totally annoying and basically the reason I don't do much by way of listing spares and parts on BC any more, and go straight to ebay, where I can block people at will, and pay for that convenience, and generally not have to deal with lowballs. This is about the feedback section is a forum for information, and restricting said information only serves to undermine the validity of the information that is there. I've not really had any bad transactions, but I generally rely on my intuition on if someone is worth dealing with rather than the feedback section.

In fact, its more that I run my hobby like a business, since my actual business has nothing to do with BC or bass at all. My aim is to deal as exclusively as possible and pick and choose who I bother with, which isn't really business practice and entirely to do with my personal preference of who I want to bother with. I charge people extra because their band sucks, and talk people out of buying my things that won't suit what they want to do. In order to make such choices, I need the information, which is the value of the feedback thread, restricting information doesn't help me at all. And its definitely not the shop front that is at issue otherwise, that's back end stuff. If a transaction doesn't complete, because one party say, doesn't actually send the goods, that is something I'm going to want to know about.

Seems like the intention is, that if someone is doing the timewaster thing, pm a mod about it, and if it happens loads, then the mods will deal with it without publicity. The feedback section is just there to give a utopian view of the trade section.

[/quote] Do you allow feedback for transactions outside of BC? because transactions within BC have got evidence of their existence. guess the only thing that wouldn't be on bc would be affiliate discounts, and that really isn't much to do with BC, you are just ragging on a business after getting a discount.

[/quote] I PM block anyone who makes stupid lowballs, which sort of sorts that, but turns out PM blocking doesn't work like I thought it did.

The moderator intervention part is just editing that reflection of reality, I don't want that to happen. Telling people not to do it to start with or deleting after the fact, either is a fail for what I want. Win for people using the feedback section to decide if they want to deal with someone is not having moderators intervene. If someone wants to be a butthurt crybaby spamming up the sellers thread because a bass wasn't set up the way they like after shipping it, then I want to be able to see that, save me a lot of hassle setting up and shipping a bass.

Feedback goes two ways, if someone is chucking about unwarranted negs, and generally acting like a tit, I'm happy to know that and not deal with them. Definitely a disservice to restrict feedback that is of interest to potential traders. Even if they can't put it into public, they can still be a nutpain not in public, and that is relevant to people anticipating dealing with them in future.

PM me the timewaster's name, I'd appreciate not having to deal with them, even if policy is not to publicise them.

Feedback is there for other people to benefit from, not to settle scores. If you'd known he was a timewaster, you'd have had him waste less of your time, so do that favour for the next person.

Alright if you are expecting to sound like a guitar. The speakers are going to break up a fair bit, so you'll have a lot of distortion even if the amp is clean, don't try and get any bottom out of it.

I think that is the one I used on a gig and was pretty impressed. Not much top, but took my low A with enough grunt to carry the venue. Hmm, if there was any money to hand, I'd get that as a lender cab.

Good work can be done with bridge pickups.
