1. Hey Debs, I know what you mean. I used to contort my chops when I was playing the 'cello? I don't believe I do that whilst playing bass, but you'd know as you've seen it??? I think it may have been to do with concentrating on intonation which of course you don't struggle with on a fretted bass. What's the story on Gentleman Jack - seen it but not tried it yet? Our guitarist reckons it's a lot smoother than regular jack? BTW, I'm a huge Floyd fan too and love playing Comfortably Numb to relax too........glass of jack in one hand! LC

Traded

Great price dude. Know what you mean about weak E strings. LC
3. Where'd I get Ben from? Clearly an age thing!, sorry Dan, I'll report back on Saturday! LC
4.
Welcome to the club http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1
Nice one Ben, can I expect good things and is the pup a standard AM or a custom shop as on the new standards? Cheers, LC
5.
I don't imagine LC's pop/rock covers band will go down too well will a Roger Miret cover singer
Erm...........no!
6. Sorry to hear that Debs. Someone has got in touch with me today from 'join my band' and he sounds like he has the right credentials so were gonna try him out week after next when our drummer gets back from his hols and he's had a look at the set. Fingers crossed! Good luck with your band too, never seems to be easy does it? LC
7. DV24 is minus the only one of these they are gonna get! Arriving Saturday! I know, I know, it's just an American Standard with a hand finished Ash body...but I like it! LC
8.
Squier Vintage Modified would be my choice. Liam
Aye! They under promise but over deliver in almost every way.
9. Unusual, interesting, desirable, different! Like it a lot (and read the great reviews in BGM). Good luck with it dude, LC
10. Thanks Debb sies! Yeah, last nites gig did it. Were on the lookout on Join my Band and elsewhere, but good rock singers are few and far between! LC
11. Ha, yeah mine too. Love a trip there, an Aladdin's cave of temptation!
12.
I haven't posted anything in this section for ages but I think this is worthy of a mention. I know Nick (Doctorofthebass) has one and Nigel did a well documented build of a Chris Squire "Tribute" version. I mentioned at the time that I had one but as the saying goes, no pics- it doesn't exist! Up to yesterday, the only shots I had were some iffy ones that I sent to Jon, Bassassin but the weren't very good at all, so went west!! So, here it is - a not very often seen instrument on this side of the pond. **Now sits and waits whilst two dozen more turn up!!** I will be doing a big feature on it, in my Collection Blog, in the next post - explaining about the Modules, the sounds, the switching, and how it plays. Cheers.
I've played Nick's Outlaw and what a machine. I don't think he's finished it yet. Yours looks like an absolute minter, I drooled over the one that Andy Baxter had until someone saved me £650 quid!
13. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Alembic_Orion_4.html It's a lovely thing!
14.
The amount of people who think they can sing but can't is astonishing. A few years ago I tried to start a band with a couple of other people & we advertised for a vocalist. We had quite a few replies, and every last one of them was bloody awful. 15. Beautiful example! I don't ever recall seeing one of these anywhere. Doctor of the Bass (Nick) might be along shortly to take a look as he's a bit of a Vigier fan too. Good luck with your sale (and the studio). LC
16. Played a pub near Pontypool last night. Appreciative crowd and may replace the August bank holiday Karaoke with us! Singer flat a lot of the time unfortunately (subject of a separate thread in gen discussion). Tried out my newly scored 60's RI Jazz which 'honked' like a good'un! Search for a new front person is on! LC
17.
loads of demos on that there youchewb - the parameters can be adjusted so it doenst necessairly need to make you sound like Cher went to try out with a new band last week and the singer had one - although she didnt need it for pitch correction, the harmony and loop settings are pretty useable - i was impressed anyways if it will do the trick of getting the punters to come and compliment rather than criticise its 200 notes well spent imho
Checked out the tube. Seems like a useful bit of kit and there's one on here for sale for £150! The trick is to get him to try the medicine!
18.
would he very upset if you tactfully introduced one of these between his mic and the mixing desk? http://www.bossus.co...?ProductId=1043
We have suggested one of these, but not sure how good the auto tune function is?
19.
no, ...but the singer is the most important.. As you have found, everything goes thru the singer and you live or die thru their performance. Crap singer = crap band and this may just about be rescued to a tiny degree if they have charisma and energy but that is no real substitute. Everyone remembers a bad vocal...more than the gtr killing a solo. You are only as good as the main vox..no way round that, IMO
Yeah, I agree with that. The search is on....
20. The sound engineer at our first gig commented that my Markbass R500 and 151H cab had the cleanest signal he'd ever come across.
21. Knowing Nick, someone will have to prise that out of his cold dead hands before he sells it! Lovely thing and GLWTS, LC
22. So the deal is that our current singer is not cutting the mustard. He's a good bloke and all that but sings flat probably 50%+ of the time. After our gig last nite, we asked for some feedback and it wasn't positive, so things are coming to a head. This was only our second gig so no reputational harm done hopefully. The thing is that the band is really tight and we get lots of favourable comments about our playing which is great, just not so about the singer. He has said, on more than one occasion, with some pride, that he hasn't had a singing lesson in his life? We have tried collectively to gently steer him toward some without success. So just wondering, is the singer the most difficult band member to replace or find? LC
23.
He's back - happy days!
He's gone again! We've come to the conclusion that he's just not up to it so the above invitation stands! LC
