  1. Hi Guy's, Would any of you good peeps have any of the following? The Strokes Last Night Stereophonics Boy in the local photograph Jet Are you Gonna be my Girl Oasis Cigarettes and Alcohol Cheers, LC
  2. Still available due to a couple of 'test pilots' who in the end 'didn't have the money after all' !
  3. The Deceptives are essentially a blues band with some classic rock thrown in. Based in Cardiff, we've just lost our singer due to work and family commitments and are on the lookout for a new front man/woman. We are Martin on guitar, Gary on Bass and Pete on drums all around late 40's and we play Peter Green, Bryan Adams, John Mayer, Clapton through to Free, Bad Company and Whitesnake. All pro gear inc PA and ready to gig. We rehearse in the Music Box on Penarth Road. Anyone from the Welsh contingent know anyone? Cheers, Gary
  4. Sound posts in classical stringed instruments are used to compensate for the pressure bearing down on the convex belly of the two footed bridge. They also serve to internally join the belly to the back allowing circulation of air within the instrument when the strings are bowed. I had one fall over on an old Cello a few years ago and the result was a very muddy sounding instrument. They are also a pigs orphan to get back into position and you need a special tool. Interestingly, just by moving the sound post a fraction can alter the sound (timbre) of the instrument enormously. Something best left to experienced luthiers. I've never heard of them being used in guitars? LC
  5. New year bump. £749 makes this an absolute bargain folks. Or what have you to swap? LC
  6. That seems like a great price for this as it must be quality. Looks in very good order too. Good luck, LC
  7. If you can negotiate another 50 or 60 quid off I think that would be pretty fair. I have a Korean made (Samick factory) Precision and it's an absolute player, very good quality and nice punchy pups. LC
  8. That has to be the most famous fireplace on Bass chat! Nice chrissy dex too. Good luck with the sale Dave... LC

  10. My 70's P is heavy (but I like that), big bodied (but I like that) fat C shaped neck profile (but I like that), strung with flats (yes, you guessed it). Turn on any music show eg. Jools and almost every band will be sporting a P (I guess they have image). Be careful about spending a shed load on one though. In my experience, there are many cheaper P's (Squiers especially) that may provide the same thing for a lot less cash. Just play loads and buy the one that feels just right. LC
  11. Play loads and buy the one that feels right to you. Be flexible with your budget if you can. There is nothing worse than playing 'the one' if it's just outside your budget and buying a cheaper one that doesn't feel as good. You'll never be happy with it!. I have a Squier ('96 Samick built) and a '70's US in natural. The US one cost 12 times that of the Squier but I love them both. You can get 'the one' for a lot less money than you think, so take your time and enjoy the process! LC
  12. My prize winning racing snail has stopped winning races. Last night I took his shell off to save weight and make him more aerodynamic. Didn't work though....if anything it's made him more...sluggish! Type Bump......
  13. Merry Chriistmas Everybody has a killer bass line, very underated Jimmy Lea! [quote name='Johngh' timestamp='1294092908' post='1076870'] Jim Lea - Slade Glenn Hughes - Trapeze / Deep Purple / Solo Stuff Geddy Lee - The Master ! Stanley Clarke - For his amazing solo albums Mark King - Saw him on BBC sight and sound in concert when I was just starting out on Bass, and was blown away. These were the guys that showed me what could be achieved on bass when I was just starting out playing about 30 years ago. Problem is they are still at the top of their game, and I'm still crap !
